What was the last product you rediscovered and loved?

I wouldn’t say I’ve TOTALLY forgot about them, but I recently used some Make Up For Ever Artist Eyeshadows and remembered just how amazing they were!

Cover Girl Cheekers blush. At one point I probably owned all of them and many limited edition ones. Got rid of all but 3 in a declutter phases. One is now discontinued and I wish I held onto it. Bought soft sable due to Emily Noel talking about her old ds favs. Released how much I love those little blushes and their smell reminds me of youth lol

I have been using Asian cushion foundation for some time now and haven’t been reaching for any of my other foundations. I took a trip recently and inadvertently left my cushion where I was visiting. When I went to put my makeup on the next morning I didn’t have it and was forced to use one of the foundations that have been sitting in my drawer. These included Nars Sheer Glow and MUFE HD foundation (the old formula). I decided to use the Nars Sheer Glow as it wasn’t as old. I have it in two shades which was part of the reason I had stopped using it but I mixed the shades, Siberia and Mont Blanc and was pleasantly surprised by the color, coverage and wear time. It is probably the worst named foundation as it doesn’t glow at all on me but I did enjoy it and will use more.

Today, when I put old standby warm fall eye together again using UD “X”, MAC Woodwinked and Soft brown, and UD Roach after neglecting that combo for a long time. Wore it with another neglected goodie, Sephora Go For A Ride. Seeing them together on me, and how they work together to brighten up my eyes, just made me feel kinda pretty!

I rediscovered my Kat Von D Shady Business I bronzer and have been wearing it non-stop after literally forgetting about it for over a year. Sad to see it’s not carried at Sephora anymore, but it is on Kat’s own site still – on sale – may have to get a back up of this one…

My Givenchy lipsticks! #103 Brun Createur is probably my favorite shade of all time, and for the past two months I’ve not wanted to use anything else. I also have Rose Dentelle and Rose Dressing. The formulas and colors are beautiful and so comfortable to wear. Love this product that sat dormant for so long!

(I haven’t posted in ages!) I use MUFE eyeshadows several times per week–SOOOOO GOOOOOD.
But one thing I’ve rediscovered recently, and I’m shocked at how much very in love I am is Albatross highlighter. It’s absolutely lovely, and I now can’t stop using it. Another thing that I discovered at the same time that I’m also enjoying is Nars Laguna–I had forgotten how neutral and wearable it is.

Maybelline Full & Soft Mascara. I’ve tried a lot of more expensive brands over the past year, but have decided this one is still my favorite. I’ve found my HG mascara!

Laura Mercier Amethyst caviar stick. I really like the color and formula for the lid. It doesn’t migrate or crease, and lasts until I take it off.

Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand. I use this double-sided click brush product when I am pressed for time. I swipe the eye prep side for quick moisturizing under my eyes, but then use the concealer more as a touch and go product for the rest of my face. I apply directly with the brush, but then blend/diffuse with a finger tip. The packaging is highly portable and I have never had the click brush fail on me like I have with others.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow. It’s seriously the best eyebrow product I own, but I seldom use it because I have to squeeze a bit out onto my hand or a palette, which I then have to clean off. Which takes maybe ten seconds. But really, I should use it more often, because one product and I’m done, and the shade range is excellent. These are not too golden or too red, like a lot of brow products can be. Usually I need to use a powder or pencil and a tinted brow gel if I want to do a complete job on my brows. I can get away with just coloring the brow hairs on a casual day, but they don’t look quite finished when I’ve got a full face of makeup on. Then I need to fill in a bit with powder or pencil. Anastasia’s DipBrow pomade is another one-product-does-the-whole-brow product for me, but the result doesn’t look as natural as when I use the Aqua Brow. I used the Aqua Brow yesterday, and I’m going to keep on using it more often!

This morning I dug out a BareMinerals eyeshadow duo (The Honeymoon Phase) and was like wow, I should use this more often. I have a few of those duos and quads but this duo is my favorite.

My dark lipsticks, since I don’t really wear them during the summer I haven’t worn any of them since February. I just recently pulled them out again, and was reminded of how much I like wearing a dark lip.

Cannot believe that mufe a/s fell off your radar. Shows what being the foremost beauty blogger can do! But, when mufe persists in reissuing the same old in their palettes, it is hardly surprising. Guess my answer to the question would be the HG original alp. One shade is usable in summer. Whoops, there goes that. Back to non-use and the mood colors only.

TheBalm’s Mischievious Marissa eyeshadow! Such a gorgeous, gorgeous peachy gold.

It’s in a small Z palette with my Rock & Republic eyeshadows that I never reach for it. But it’s so pretty!

MAC Smoky Mauve, which I think is one of their very best eyeshadows of all time. Absolutely gorgeous color. It impresses me every time I use it.

I also used MUFE D868 Crystalline Pink eyeshadow yesterday. It’s a very sheer white with heavy pink shimmers that makes a good, unexpected topper for other colors. Yesterday I was referencing pictures of Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice and demonic possession makeup tutorials on youtube and I ended up using it over a yellow toned base with a cool result. Then I plopped on some winged out liner so it was kind of a glam-goth look.

Side note: I actually had issues with the other shade from the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow line that I purchased, S800 Grenadine. I searched a little online and haven’t seen anyone else mention my issue and was wondering if anyone else had any problems. My Grenadine has a horrible texture. It’s almost like a partially dried out cream product where it is hard to get any product on the brush, and once I do it applies sheer and clumpy. Maybe I happened to get the one in a million defective one that had too much binder in it…? Or is this a more common thing? It makes me wary of buying more Artist Shadows, which feels like a bummer because they’re supposed to be so good!

Erica Avatar

Oh I could easily say Stila too but for the Kitten eyeshadow . Took it out last week after not using it forever and was reminded why it is HG for me. Makes me sad too bc I really dislike what they’ve done to their line. Their e/s especially: (

Erica, I happened upon that eyeshadow while looking for a dupe on Too Faced Silk Teddy. I like the color but not the formula of Stila. Too Faced still makes it but only in one of their old style palettes. The formula is to die for. Now I am using UD Sin but miss my Silk Teddy. I can’t justify the cost of another palette just for the one.

YSL Volupte Rouge Shine in # 9 “Nude in Private”. I’ve been so into new lipstick releases over last several months that I’d forgotten about this standby until finding it tucked away during a clean out project. I’m happy to have it back in my daily makeup bag.

My Chantecaille lip potion. It’s always out on my counter, but I usually reach for my La Mer balm. Yesterday I used the Lip Potion while getting ready and forgot how much I like the way my lipstick went on after prepping with it. It absorbs really well into the lips, but you don’t need to blot it off like a regular balm when you’re ready to apply lip color.

ABH Brow Whiz and the Dior version too. I use the ABH Dip Brow first, then use one end to fill in some missing tail hairs, then use the brush at other end

The Colleen Rothschild Sheer Renewal Face Lotion. I bought this as part of a package and initially, I thought, meh. But I’m on a #UseItUp tear and that’s one of the items on my list. I don’t know if it’s because I’m better at cleansing, exfoliating, masking, etc., but now I love it! It really works to moisturize my skin. So glad because it’s an expensive product and I’d hate to have spent that money with no ROI. So a product I’ve had that I can finish using (since I have another tube).
I love it when a plan works out!

I have no special product in mind but I have a lot of foundations because I am always looking for a good foundation which matches my very very pale skin tone. So I often use a foundation one time and then the next one and so on. Now that I have the white foundation from manic panic I rediscover all these forgotten foundations because I can make them all lighter and with a drop of Marc jacobs remarcable foundation concentrate I can make them more covering if I want. Works really well with nearly all foundations.

Anne Avatar

The Body Shop has its Lightening Drops ($20), which I prefer to the Manic Panic white because I’m on the dry side. The drops are an off-white and creamier than MP. Plus, it takes less product. Just an FYI because I need to lighten my foundations, too.

Kylie5 Avatar

That is funny because I have tried the body shop drops and for me it is the opposite. I prefer the manic panic because I have oily skin and the body shop drops are too creamy/moisturizing

SummerFabulous Avatar

I’m glad you mentioned this! I have the MP drops & I do like them, but my face is dry so I’m going to get the lightening drops & see if I like them more. I pretty much always have to use a lightener.

SummerFabulous Avatar

MAC Prep & Prime in radiant rose. I had misplaced it for quite some time & was so delighted when I decided to do some rearranging and found it. It gives my very fair skin a pretty luminosity to it.

SummerFabulous Avatar

I use it as an under eye/center of the face brighter. It works both under foundation to brighten or help conceal dark circles since it’s a light pink. I do wear it lightly under the eyes & center of the face to even things out a bit on days that I don’t want to bother with foundation. My only skin issue is dryness (this sits nicely on it for me) I do have under eye circles though. This product texture is thin but it covers well and wears nicely under the eyes since I don’t have to put a thick layer on. I hope this long explaination has helped some & not confused you.

I recently pulled out a Smashbox eye shadow palette that was part of their holiday collection several years ago. I think it was part of a set they called “Wondervision” and the palette is called “Sparks”. It contains 6 colors–mostly shimmers that are very creamy in consistency in shades of peachy pink, burnished gold, true gold and a matte deep brown. Typically, Smashbox eye shadow palettes contain lots of hits and misses, but I adore this particular palette. I have been paring it with my MAC Nordstrom C’est Chic Palette, which is all mattes, and I just love the combos I’ve been able to create.

Hi Christine & Temptalia,
I have to say that it was actually 2 products that I used to use. My future daughter-in-law was putting her makeup on and she had Kat Von D Lock It Foundation and Maybelline Eraser Concealer. Oddly enough we wear the same shades. Even though I thought that the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation was a little too heavy for me, I actually had asked her if I could try it out again. I wound up using both of the products. I just wanted to reminisce a few years back and I did.

I dug out my old Dior 3 Colours in Khaki – there is an olive brown, an olive green with a slight shimmer and a beautiful subtle gold shade. This was made in the days when Dior was quite good. The finishes of the eye shadows are a soft satin and minimal shimmer and it is perfect for autumn looks.

I bought the Stila One Step Correct Primer about a year ago then put it aside when I moved on to Becca Backlight and MUFE Smoothing Primer. When the weather changed I decided to experiment with a different face primer. I actually enjoy it more now than I did when I first got it. That may be a result of the way the products correcting colors are separated in the container and interlaced as one when dispensed. I think there is more green and less lavender than there was originally, maybe? The green seems to help with the redness in my cheeks without leaving the pale cast I originally got with the overabundance of lavender in the mix. Time will tell if this combination remains consistent.

Nars creamed eyeshadow I have from a long time ago is so great and I love the color. I love, love NARS foundation, blushes and these eyeshadows. They come as a lipgloss type of container, tuve. Awesome product!

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color lipstick in Pink Pink. Gorgeous, long lasting, moisturizing, and such a better formula than many edgier brands I’ve tried.

Kylie Jenner Lip Kits! Just got my hands on Exposed and I am in LOVE!!! They are so comfortable to wear and Exposed looks great on my pale skin as a darker nude.

Bonnie Avatar

Sometimes I don’t know why I stop using favorites. Either I see something new to try, and something else, and something else, or over time, the product stops being as effective, since skin and hair are constantly changing and the reactions are different. Regardless, I always eventually come back to L’Oreal Voluminous Original, and Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Pink Frost. They just always seem to look great.

Naomi Avatar

too faced chocolate soliel bronzer and MUFE mattifying primer! I really want to love the becca ever matte primer, but I think it breaks me out sadly 🙁

Emilie Avatar

Kat Von D Eyeshadow in Thunderstruck! I’ve been using it almost every day, it’s so gorgeous and gives such a natural looking glow to the eyes and skin, definitely my favorite shade of the Metal Crush line! I used it for a bit after I bought it but kind of forgot about it until now.

Claudi Avatar

MAC painterly (Paintpot), it lasts the whole day, especially now that I combine it with my favourite Urban Decay eyeshadows (naked basics). What a nice surprise!
