My all-time favorite lipstick is MAC Relentlessly Red. I don’t know what it is about that lipstick but it’s pink enough to be fun, coral enough to be flattering on my skin tone, and red enough to be classy. It’s right at the intersection of those colors and it’s so flattering and fun and sophisticated but never stuffy. It’s my go-to for any stressful makeup situation since it gives me a huge confidence boost and I know it’s not going anywhere (as a Retro Matte).

A mid-tone neutral, coral, plum or mauve with a satin finish. I like eyes with dimension and I like to keep my lips neutral and polished. When my eyes are done and I have a harmonious, coordinated lip, I feel really put together and confident. I tend to feel self-conscious wearing bold lip colors.

TBH a dusty rose with reddish undertones like KVD’s Lolita 2. Even though red is a ‘special occasion’ colour for me, I’m just always self-conscious of the condition that the lipstick is in (“is it on my teeth? has it worn away?”), and worried that I look like I tried too hard.

I’m a serious lipstick hoarder and dark, vampy shades make me feel like I can handle the world! Besides browns and dark reds, these shades also suits me best. I currently love Sin, Talk That Talk, Antique Velvet and Viva Glam III by MAC. I’m also loving LA Splash’ Raven, Spellbound and NABLA Cosmetics Domina. And as we speak, I’m going through Temptalia looking for new shades. ?

I’m the same way. Lipstick doesn’t make me feel powerful. But I’m currently loving Urban Decay’s After Dark lipstick.

When i was in my 30s I began to “come into my own”. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my early 40s, I think I got a handle on who I am and really, genuinely loved myself. So while I love makeup, I no longer feel like I need it to feel strong and powerful – it’s who I am anyway. That said, like you, I love a red lip but my second fav is the D&G Sophia Loren “red” which pulls pink on me.

I don’t do red so no amount of red lipstick makes me feel powerful. Just makes me feel red is not for me. A good lipstick in a color I love makes me feel powerful like MAC’s Mehr or Velvet Teddy. I wear it to feel good about myself. Feel good about myself, I feel confident and therefore powerful:)

I have light blonde hair, very fair skin and grey blue eyes, and something about a crazy bright fuschia really makes me feel in charge!

MAC Russian Red. It’s the first lipstick I remember buying and for a makeup newbie I hit jackpot. It really works for my colouring – super intense red that doesn’t wash me out or overpower me. I just love the way it looks on my face.

Well, normally, to feel powerful, I throw on a smoky eye and channel my inner Winter Soldier as I stride across campus. But I’ve been getting more into lips! I’m really into unusual colors so something like a cobalt blue makes me feel capable of everything. If I want to tone it down to “capable of everything for the next three hours of homework,” though, it’s usually a brightened violet, mid-toned coral, or a bright warm red. I feel like summer colors give me power.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!!!!! yes!!!! Absolutely with a burgundy or a dark lipstick!!!!!! 🙂 Like Inferno from Dolce and Gabanna Matte lipstick

A strong color that is perfect for my coloring — so I feel comfortable, confident, not self-conscious and showing that I’m in for the situation whatever it is. I had a perfect Perspectives (dating myself) and then Givenchy, just finished up the latter. Am in search of new perfect red these days; have hopes for the new UD Cruel or Wrath. Until then, a perfect-for-me nude or sheer (UD Lovelight being my daily one)

I just bought a bright lilac color from kvd called coven , I mix it kvd bow and arrow and it becomes a muted lilac it makes me feel empowered and I just do not see anybody around with that color . Aside from that Burberry ox blood or nars fire down below beautiful reds

A deep rich red! I look young for my age and work in luxury menswear retail, so a red lip is an everyday must for me. It makes me feel confident and put together.

A gorgeous deep brown rose of KatVonD Cathedral. It’s her studded lipstick and her everlasting liquid lip is my favorite formula and my powerful color from that line is double dare!

Bon Bon Avatar

I love my mixture. I use a reddish pink lip liner. I fill in my lips. I then add a deep fushia color followed by a brown matte. Topped off with a Dior pink gloss. It’s a beautiful color on me. Many compliments and questions as to what shade and by who.

Purples and magentas do it for me. I especially like Jeffree Star’s I’m Royalty, when I want to feel particularly fierce 🙂

Well, I always try to look nice and be feminine even in the worst tragedies and crisis, there’s no reason to add to everyone’s misery by looking miserable yourself. That’s my philosophy. This is why I always wore makeup and jewelry into the jungle-nothing too extravagant, but maybe just a nice gold bracelet and some earrings, a little lipstick, good perfume. Just enough to show that I still had my self-respect. My lipstick colors depend on the mood I’m in. For work I mostly wear a nude beige, pinky, mauve colors. Trust me, these colors may be light, but I feel confident and powerful when I wear them. Parties and nights on the town, its usually a pink/brown with gloss. I miss my reds, I loved all of them. But now I feel like they exaggerate my wrinkles. Maybe after my facelift I will start wearing it again!!! (Not facelift lol) Kidding.

Any shade of Red. Especially Love Chanel’s Passion, Pirate, and Gabrielle. Also MAC’s Russian Red. Armani’s 400 is also a beautiful Red. I find red lipstick mood lifting as well.

Hanna Avatar

I wear dark vampy colors and red on a pretty much daily basis. So when I want to feel very sexy or powerful I wear nude lipstick and a super smokey eye.

Kat Von D – bow and arrow is my current power lip.

Red.. Red.. And more Red… A blue toned red. I just love reds. I know it is not a practical color; so I hav stopped myself from buying literally all reds in the market. I tk a frnd along who actually veers to to try the other office friendly and muted shades…. Again i start searching for a muted red… Hihi!!!!

Karen Avatar

Red is a power color. Psychologically it says “look at me” so wearing it in your clothing or as lipstick is good. Any medium to dark lipstick will call attentions of ehat you’say while neutral and lighter colored lipstick make less impact.

Bonnie Avatar

I don’t do red – it never works on me, so I’m going with purple! Revolution has some good ones – so does NYX. Can’t wait to try some of the new UD purple lipsticks. I pretty much stick with pink, purple, brown, and nude, although I love me some white too. No reds or corals, although I am willing to try a black or an orange. I love that purple is having a moment and just about every new collection has a purple right now.

I think the power look with makeup is more in the eyes, though.

Laura Avatar

A dark purple or brown makes me feel powerful. A dark red can do the trick too. I also wear NYX Cold Hearted Wicked Lippy which is the only colour of its kind in my collection so that makes me feel powerful too! Cold Hearted makes me feel like a powerful cyborg-alien hybrid princess <3
