Eyeshadow and traditional lipstick!
Definitely not enjoyable for me: Eyeliner and eyelashes. I’m fine with brows though, surprisingly. I’m afraid of liquid lipstick applications, because of how precise you have to be.

It’s a tie between eyeshadow/eye makeup in general and swirling on finishing powder. I like the (sometimes slow and lengthy) process of building an eye look and using three or four colors two accentuate my eye color or eye shape.

As for the finishing powder, I love how it blends the whole look together. I’m ok with bronzer placement but blush and highlighter are little tricky for me. I always apply both a little heavy but it doesn’t matter because I just have to swirl on the finishing powder and it tones everything down and magically blends it all together. I use a MAC 187 brush or a Sigma F50 face brush and either Shiseido’s Future X Radiant Loose Powder or Guerlain Meteorites Perles. I love the finish it gives and how seamless everything looks.

After cleansing and “care” – it just feels so good, it would have to be eyeshadow for me too – I just love applying and wearing eyeshadow. Primer is a distant second (I’m always delighted/surprised by how my skin looks after applying a good primer).

I’ll ask Marcella when I see her 😉 Seriously, though – the one I’m really loving at the moment is the Becca Backlighting Filter Primer (or whatever the heck that name is) – I often use it without bothering to put foundation over-top! Another favourite – an old fave – is the Lise Watier Base Miracle. It leaves my skin looking perfect and imperfections are blurred away to nothingness and it has the most wonderful velvety feel. It was the first face primer I ever used and even all these years later, it still remains a favourite.

The Becca Backlighting Filter Primer will be on sale for $19 during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale! March 26th I think. I’d like to try it!

Lipsticks/glosses are the most fun; however, since for me eyeshadows require the most thinking and craft, they’re the most satisfying.

I’d call it a tie between foundation and eyeshadow — foundation because the difference in how I look from before to after is astounding and … what’s the opposite of “demoralizing?”

Eyeshadow because I get to play with colors, which is my favorite thing to do.

Base or eyebrows (although more about the result than the actual application) because they give me the biggest confidence boost 🙂 I agree about highlight, it’s so satisfying to apply!

I really love the whole foundation process so that would be my first pick. I usually put my lipstick on last, (unless I think I need blush to determine which lipstick to wear), and I like the way it brings the whole look together.

Lipstick! 🙂 Nothing like the feeling of filling in a bare mouth with color 😀 Followed with a tie with bottom eyeliner & eye shadow. Mascara is take-it-or-leave-it. Blush can be really fun but it’s not fun at the same time bc I always think I have on too much and it’s not evenly distributed on both cheeks. Concealer is a hassle so it’s my least favorite bc I wish I had perfect skin that I didn’t need to use any!

Highlighting for sure. I brush everything else on and feel like I have an artists touch when using my finger(s) to highlight.

#1 foundation and concealer #2 highlighter and brows and mascara. Eyeshadow is for special occasions so I do enjoy that those times!:)

It’s eye shadow and highlighter for me too! They just transform the look of the day. Yesterday, I did grays on my eyes and a pale gold highlighter. Different, yet fun 🙂

I suppose mascara. It’s the one thing that makes me look more awake and bright eyed. Especially when it’s a good mascara day and my lashes don’t need a comb through because they look too spidery.

Cory Avatar

Omg you nailed it, Christine! I feel the exact same way! With eyes you really get to be creative and dip into your artistic side, especially if it’s not part of your daily career life, but you are an artistic person. & with highlight, it’s just super satisfying to light your face up with a few brush strokes! ✨

Blush and lipgloss! I think adding a little color to my cheeks brings everything together. I have such dry lips that I live for a good gloss. Still can’t do the matte liquid lips trend often.

Denise Avatar

Oh good question!!!! Eyeshadow, lip liner and lipstick. I get crazy with foundation and eye liner because it has to be perfect.

Soleil Avatar

Definitely foundation, it gives me the confidence I need to face the world! And lipstick just completes the look, like a reward after almost an hour of putting on your face.

I like, after doing my skincare routine, applying my primer and then foundation (or tinted CC or whatever). Creating the canvas so to speak. That is of course when I find a HG foundation …I am really struggling to find one that doesn’t accentuate fine lines caused by dryness (ones that Botox don’t help with :/).

For me it’s lipstick first. I can for go eye makeup, a little concealer, powder and blush and great red lip done right and a pair of designer sunglasses and I’am ready to go. I do love eyeshadow and the use of top quality brushes to achieve beautiful results. In truth I love all aspects of makeup application.

Bonnie Avatar

I go through phases, but I’ve been in a lip phase for a while now, branching out to new colors while still loving my faves. I will say putting on makeup in general is a happy experience for me, especially when I’m feeling low. Those days when it’s hard to drag myself out of bed, it makes a huge difference. I guess foundation is fun too, because although it’s less enojoyable, it makes a huge difference.

Anne Avatar

Depending on my mood it can be a lot of things. Some times it’s eyeshadow, sometimes it’s putting on cheek products like blush, highlight or bronzer, or sometimes it’s doing my lips.

Helene Avatar

Eyeshadow and lipstick. Both are so much fun as one can go soft, natural, colourful, dark, smokey and so on and combining them makes for infinite “looks”.
I use makeup as a way to relax, putting it all on, combining colours, textures and so on is my way of dealing with stress, as well as giving me a bit of creative outlet, for me the foundation, blush and so on is prepping the canvas, doing eyes and lips are the painting itself. Hard to explain, but I think you all will understand.
