Telepathic
Makeup Geek Telepathic Pigment ($12.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light white gold with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. The finish became more reflective and less frosted when I used it damp, but the coverage level was the same–opaque–regardless of dry or damp application. The texture was smooth, finely-milled but not dusty, and it applied evenly on the lid without primer. The color started to crease after eight hours of wear.

Gargoyle
Makeup Geek Gargoyle Pigment ($12.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark olive green with warm, brownish undertones and a frosted finish. It was richly pigmented whether I used it dry or with a damp brush, though it had a stronger sheen when applied damp overall. The texture was easy to work with–soft but not so finely-milled that it was dusty or prone to fallout–and applied evenly on the skin. It stayed on for eight hours before creasing.

Illusion
Makeup Geek Illusion Pigment ($12.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light pink with cooler undertones paired with warmer, golden shimmer. It looked cooler and warmer on me depending on what I paired with it; the icier base came through alongside other, cooler, icier colors. It had a soft, blendable texture, though it was a little “chunkier” compared to other pigments in the range, so I had better luck patting and pressing it against the lid or using it with a dampened brush for the easiest application. I noticed creasing after eight hours of wear.

Firefly
Makeup Geek Firefly Pigment ($12.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark, golden copper with warm, reddish undertones and a metallic sheen. It had medium, buildable color payoff applied dry, and it was intensely shiny and opaque when applied with a damp brush. The consistency was soft, finely-milled without being dusty or powdery, and it was easy to blend out on the lid. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Hm. I’m thinking Makeup Geek is taking (or has taken) inspiration form Aromaleigh — I have a shadow from Aromaleigh called Gargouille (Gargoyle) which is identical to the swatch here (at least when swatched on my hand and compared to the screen).
That’s very interesting!
Your swatch of Telepathy seems to have a strong blue component — is that the result of studio lighting? It would be more interesting to me as a white gold / blue duochrome.
It has a grayish white base – my lighting is more daylight in hue (warmer), so if there was ever any influence, it would skew things warmer (I’ve seen it happen mostly with loose glitters as they reflect back light).
Illusion, Gargoyle, and Firefly are very pretty. I especially like Firefly.
Firefly will be great for gold and bronze looks!
Thanks for the swatches & review!!! Did you have any issues with the packaging? I see that they come with sifters this time, which helps…I remember the debacle with the Sparklers, and there were also reviews of the duochrome pigments where the jars started cracking and the sifters weren’t pressed down completely so they were STILL super messy. I’m interested in Gargoyle and Firefly, but not if they’re still so troublesome.
No, I didn’t have any issues – if I did, I would have mentioned it 🙂
Firefly is wow!! Well named. Also like Illusion and Gargoyle. Uh oh, my MUG wishlist is getting longer and longer….
Firefly is really cool!
I really like this bunch!!! Looks so Purdy!
They are nice!
Illusion, Firefly and Telepathic are truly lovely! I could absolutely see my using all 3 together in a very reflective golden glow look with just my trademark wings and soft transition and browbone shadows!
There are some good ones in this set! 🙂
Loving Firefly!
Me too!
Love Gargoyle and Firefly – beautiful shades to use and play with.
They are!
Firefly reminds me of a Miss Selfridges eyeshadow I used to wear in the mid-late 90s as a student! But it was a deeper copper and not duochromatic. Ahh, nostalgia! Gargoyle looks stunning on you, it looks a very effective colour with good payoff for little effort. I also like Illusion, looks like it would pair well with other colours.
Aww, makeup memories!
All of these went straight to my wishlist. I really like all of them and I think I’d have a lot of fun using them.
You made a very pretty look, I must add.
Thank you, Helene!
Illusion sure is that! I expected pink pink pink!
