What kind of eyeshadow colors don't pique your interest?

Brighter, more neon matte shades don’t get me that excited – I’ll enjoy using them here and there but don’t get that interested in them just by seeing them.

Matte shadows in general. I think they’re useful for pulling together a look, but they’re not “fun” to me in the way that like, a colorful multichrome is.

All those matte (and every shimmery) pinks, reds, magentas and fuchsias. Also those pale matte shades of turquoise, “landlord green”, baby blue – what I think of as “institutional” colours because those did used to be the paint shades used in hospitals and schools.

Anything too saturated in a primary color. I’m a soft summer in my complexion, so those colors just don’t work on me. Except for the purple, which looks great with my green/gray eyes, the image you used for this post is my worst possible palette, lol.

Neutrals for sure. They’re just no fun! I’m not interested in mattes in general either, but I’ll use them if I don’t have a shimmer to replace them with. Warm tones don’t look great on me. I only rarely use yellow or orange shades. I prefer saturated colors, but muted or grungy ones are okay sometimes.

Repellants: bright pinks, anything red or neon, whitish pastels, very dark tones, cool purples or blues. Even worse if they’re matte.
Meh: cool neutrals, mattes except for shaping/lining

Like you Christine – I don’t wear any kind of neon shades at all – they just don’t suit me.
I don’t like yellows, mustards, pinks, reds, oranges, caramel brown shades, black, white, generally purples or fawn shades and definitely not in matte finishes. Very dark shades are not my preference either.

I got that Huda palette in the Mauves, and I was rarely able to make a good look out of the shadows, particularly those really dark burgundy or oxblood. At least they came in hand when I dressed up as a vampire bunny. ?‍♀️ ?

White-biased pastels, blacks, dark matte taupes, muddy browns, and sky blue. Matte grays: I love gray for lips and clothes, but matte grays are not flattering with my eye color. Really yellowy browns and mustards: I don’t mind all of them as much as I used to, but I’m not attracted to them, either. Matte beige, tan, medium and light taupe, brown, etc. don’t usually pique my interest, but I don’t dislike them.

I pass on shades of pink, purple, blue, grey or silver. Basically anything that lacks warmth does nothing for my complexion. Also, neons are useless for me.

I don’t flip for blues on myself, I think they make my eye color look dull even though I see other people pull off that pop of blue. I’m not into a true bright orange either, peachy shades and coppers work for me but no to cheeto inspired shades.

Yellows – unless it’s a very bright primary yellow it doesn’t do me any favors in general. As an eye shadow it honestly intimidates me so I haven’t gone there yet. Beyond that mauves… I started wearing makeup in the 90s when it felt like it was all mauve all the time and I’m still not over it.
