What do you look forward to most about holiday collections?

I am a sucker for gold and red, so I tend to enjoy the releases (regularly holiday collections, not necessarily kits/palettes!).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I do like to see some of the more festive colours – red and gold, as Christine said – and a bit more drama too. And I also like seeing products to “pretty up” and brighten up skin. Guerlain can always be counted on for a “new” Meteorites and while I don’t always buy them (very spendy and very dupe-able most of the time), I do like to see what’s on offer and maybe break down and purchase every couple of years.

That uniquely beautiful item that a snow princess would wear, perhaps inspired by, for example, Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Snow Queen’ or Jennifer Lee’s ‘Frozen.’

I usually look forward to the palettes from brands from which I know I like the formula.

I also love mini lippies set. It allows you to acquire more colours from a range you wouldn’t use up before their expiration.

Finally, a bit boring for some but I like when brands revamp packaging of permanent products especially if their are refillable!

I did use to look forward to UD’s holiday Vice palettes, plus the epically elusive Urban Spectrum palette. UD didn’t seem to bother this year, as far as any buzz goes.
Also, the definitively more colorful offerings that we see from KVD and MAC always pique my interest!
Of course, seeing each year’s Guerlain Meteorites is exciting to anticipate, even though I have yet to buy! Came unbelievably close to purchasing the beautifully done frosted glass one that had gold stars included inside of it. Kicking myself for not following through with that!

But this year, nothing seems to be grabbing me yet.

1. The fancy packaging and the (value) sets. I always love MAC’s offering and buy mostly there. I’ve seen sneak peaks of the packaging as well as what all they’re offering and I am so ready.
2. I love that just about all brands have something from every product to offer (lipstick, eyeshadow, etc.), even if it’s a small, edited collection, there is still something from every product for collecting.
3. Guerlain Meteorites – I may or may not buy because I’m finding I really just like the basic Meteorites, but I do love the packaging.
4. That everything is usually so dazzling and sparkling and so many colors – it’s so festive!

I didn’t have an answer until I read the comments — I like mini lippies. The only holiday item of any kind I’ve ever purchased is the Besame lipsticks (1930, 1935, 1946, 1969, 1970), and I’m really happy with them.

The presentation. The gift bags. The design.

I liked it when these questions came up at 10 pm PST.
Now I have to dig for it and scroll through all the postings before I get to it.

I love the chance for a product that I know I love, packaged in a festive, chic, beautiful and perchance refillable package. I don’t necessarily want it to read Christmas packaging since I would want to display and use it year around but the outside box or whatever could certainly reflect Christmas packaging with traditional Christmas colors. I guess I should say holiday or winter holiday packaging and not Christmas, trying to be politically correct!

What I am really interested in seeing is the beautiful sets and combinations that come out with your holiday season, the beauty retailers here in Aus don’t do anything like this at all and when they do something, it is hidesously expensive. So I love seeing what is available to you.
I love the festive packaging and varying combinations like the mini lipstick sets, eyeshadow palettes and skincare arrangements.

Recent follower here 🙂 I look forward to multi kits of random makeup and lippies. I love these. This is stuff I normally don’t purchase year round – usually due to cost combined with not knowing if I’ll like the product. Like lipsticks, I’m just not going to buy 10 lipsticks at $25 a pop. I’ll choose one or two every now and then. Whereas the holiday kits will have a bunch in a kit for good value, I get a bunch of shades and lots of experimenting 🙂 Or an expensive brand (like Marc Jacobs) which I would not normally buy from, it’s nice to get their holiday kits (even if it’s a smaller version of the original products). It’s fun to try out new products without breaking the bank. And a great way to to find stuff that may work for me, and experiment with different things. And if it doesn’t pan out, it’s not a loss. More specifically, I look forward to Bite Beauty and Clinique lippies, and high end multi product combos 😀
