Shimmery Blushes
My comfort zone! I love a highlighting blush–two steps in one, easier to blend, and often quite pigmented (without being too intense to work with!).

Soft shimmers and satins are my favorite types of “shimmery” blushes. I’m not very into super noticeable levels of shimmer in a blush because I have large pores and it just emphasizes them.
I mainly don’t like them because they accentuate the texture of my cheeks. Satin finishes work better for me.
Love, love, love shimmery blushes. I don’t mean full on frost or glitter particles that look like chewed up sequins from the last Pat McGrath packaging explosion but I love sheen – on my eyes and on my cheeks. A bit of shimmer looks so fresh and dewy.
LO total L re: PML.
I’ve learned to loved them, like you say one-and-done.
I only have a few but have recently started using them again. If I want an extra pop, I can add a subtle highlight on top!
I find them easier to wear sometimes — thinking of MAC’s sheer tone shimmers in particular — because as an older person, mattes can be drying and hard to blend. I don’t love the ones that are SUPER glowy, because I’d rather choose whether or not to highlight on some days. Mostly, I’m a fan of shimmers.
I love the glowy look of shimmery blushes! I agree that they are easier to work with and more “one and done” than matte blushes, which might need more blending.
I hate them. At the end of the day after my oils have attacked them, my face looks like a disco ball. I like matte blushes the best.
Soft shimmers and satins work best for me.
Love a subtle glow in a blush as long as it’s finely milled so it doesn’t accentuate texture .
I prefer softer shimmers and satin blushes. I hate the look of very obvious shimmer on my middle-aging face.
I feel like I was lied to that shimmery blushes would look unflattering, but I really love them now!
I don’t really like or wear shimmery blushes myself, as often the shimmery elements are more suited for warmer toned complexions and I am left with a goldy kind of finish on my cheeks by the end of the day – which is at odds with my cool toned complexion.
However, I do like them on others and I think that there are some great ones in the market at the moment.
I really love them! I think if you start with a light hand, you can get a beautiful effect with a shimmery blush! Total Fan! ❤️
As long as they don’t highlight the fine lines on my face it’s fine, so not too shiny just a subtle satin glow.
I love shimmery blushes. I think they are flattering and give more dimension and life to the face. I dislike when they’re chunky, or when the formula emphasizes pores.
I’ve been looking at the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes ever since I saw your review, Christine, and the swatches on your beautiful face! It’s hard to choose which one I like best because they all look good on you! Of course I’m older, and have different coloring, so the one you like the least would probably be the one best for me.
Now, Christine, has anyone told you that you look almost like a completely different person depending on how you angle you face in the pictures? It’s incredibly cool. At first I thought it was the makeup, but it’s definitely how you position your face. Apparently you have 20 good angles.—for my face, I’m still trying to find one!
That is very sweet of you to say! I have not heard that before about me, though!
Not my favorite. But I do like them in the summer, when we all look a little dewier and I might be a little darker.
