Maybe it’s just me, but as a fan of the show I’m underwhelmed. Browns instead of greens for the Earth Kingdom? No Cabbage Guy reference? No Secret Tunnel? Where is Sokka?
Right? So many better shades and shade names to pick from. My cabbages, at the very least should be in any Avatar palette. Secret Tunnel would be genius. Maybe something about Ba Sing Se in there too…
And they associated the gloss with the Kyoshi Warriors but Suki was not wearing a light lip tint, she was wearing dark red, almost-black lipstick, full-coverage. Maybe a liquid lipstick that dries down well work work. But nothing soft and glossy. Her makeup is basically theater makeup.
This is a collection that feels like they read the wikipedia page of the the show, threw their hands up in the air, muttered about the Youths, spent an hour on the entire design and went on their way.
No green for earth kingdom/earth bending? Not even the liner? I will admit it is better than I was expecting, there is blue, there is red and there is yellow. But come on, just one green? Would one green have killed them? They also managed to include Iroh and Suki but not Sokka? I think it overall looks great, if you took away the Avatar branding I’d probably be really happy with how the entire collection looks color-wise. But as an Avatar collection it is definitely missing the color green and Sokka.
I was thinking about how they didn’t seem to include Sokka. He’s one of the main characters (and not to mention the comedic relief throughout the entire series)!
I don/’t care about the show but the airy (indeed) blues are much cooler vs. all the other shadows in the palette, not sure if they would work together well.
I’m not attracted to this collection, but perhaps a pencil or two should they review well.
ATLA is my favorite cartoon (actually probably just show in general) of all time. I cannot wait to get my hands on this stuff!
I have never watched the show, but reading the comments above from Beth and Brian, CP has missed out on a vital shade that represented the Earth Kingdom. I think if brands are going to base a collection on a show/film/series/person they should get it right. Otherwise you are just hella annoying the fans.
UD Game of Thrones, PMG Bridgerton, MAC – just about everything etc. Some shades were just left out.
The palette looks good, hopefully no glitter and, of course, the obligatory orange and red shades.
Really pretty palette. My daughter is excited for this one.
Oh heck yeah!!! This one has some very interesting looking periwinkles in it that I actually believe would work for me because 2 appear to be shimmer/metallic. This collection speaks to me.
I think everyone is missing that the deep color in the earth row is a deep green. Or that’s what it looked like on the POC model in CP’s IG feed. Overall, the palette is 100% true to the clothing colors if each nation. But it’s still boring. Super wearable at least, which is what matters to most people.
I agree with the other comments. I can see what they were trying for as a palette template but the shades are a miss. Colourpop has proven it can make some great shades and this would have been a great opportunity to take a risk. I do feel taking a risk to do something new/unique with this specific collection/series would have been wiser than repeating themselves yet again. The Sailor Moon palette, that keeps being brought back by popular demand, is a good example. Repetition is not playing is safe after multiple years. I will not be picking up anything. It is not interesting, unique or inspiring to me.
(They could have done the 4 nations as quads, or perhaps come out with a unique eyeshadow duos. When was the last time I saw a duo? A matte and a duo chrome, a matte and a metallic. Would have been neat to me and I could pick out which I wanted. SS highlighters after Princess Yue. ((“my gf became the moon” and “that’s rough buddy.”)) Lipsticks after romantic references or interests like “Secret Tunnel” or “Jet.” Suki’s setting powder with a cool image on the lid. Or duo of eyeliners featuring Suki ((pink or orange leaning red?)) and Sokka ((blue toned grey! like his tribal make up.)) And/Or a palette of references with unique colors. The colors of the series is a bit muted but pleasant/soothing and not boring. A slightly muted and scaled down version of So Jaded, that would be my dream palette for ATLA. Maybe I’m cringe for this- I don’t care! ARGH. SO MANY GREENS MISSED!)
I get them not using more greens in this collection only because they just released the key lime green collection a round or two before this one. Won’t get the whole collection but definitely getting that mirror, highlighters, and gel pencils.
Okay I understand the complaints about sokka and not having green for earth…. But an APPA compact mirror 🥲 yip yip I look good closes mirror
I actually kind of love this palette. I’m not a die-hard avatar fan but I watched a lot of it, though it’s been a few years now. I would not have noticed the lack of green (although according to Christine’s swatches, one of them is a green). I have warm shades out the wazoo already but somehow I don’t have a lot of these specific shares, like a matte red. I am tempted by this and haven’t been tempted by colourpop since The Child. Only problem is shipping and the exchange rate…
