I have absolutely no idea! This question has me totally stumped and scrambling for an answer! Idk? Possibly Amy Lee meets Rihanna meets JLo meets Joan Jett???? Heck if I know, LoL!?
I don’t really have a singular aesthetic either. I’m kind of a mash-up of Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett, Fairuza Balk, Debbie Harry, David Bowie, and Kristen Stewart.
Kate Moss is the only one that comes to mind. She has been my beauty inspiration in fashion and beauty since I was a teen. Otherwise not too many other come to mind!
Blake lively, jennifer lawwrence, or kate hudson! They all have hooded eyes and blonde hair like me, and go for a mix of drama and natural that I tend to go for! 😀
Rachel Bilson I guess, because she is a brown eyed brunette like I am, plus she also seems to love eyeliner for every day and smokey eyes for special occasions.
She does rock the liquid eyeliner. Love her style!
I can’t think of anyone, either! I don’t follow celebrities a whole lot. I wear quite a bit of color, but really not nearly so much as the more colorful celebrities. I guess I do some looks that are similar to some of the ones that Tilda Swinton does, but you see her in so many interesting and gorgeous looks. Sometimes I wear my hair super-short, like hers, but the last few years I’ve been wearing it super-long, instead. I wear a lot more color makeup than Charlotte Rampling. Actually I probably wear a similar amount of color makeup as Iris Apfel does, but I don’t wear the shade of blue eyeshadow that she often wears, I don’t pile on as many accessories, and my eyeglasses are only slightly edgy, not dramatic, and my hairstyles are more casual, less ‘done’. So our overall looks are quite different, although both of us obviously love color. That’s all I can think of at the moment!
Reese Witherspoon? She always looks polished, but not overly done up, and I hope I look the same way.
I think emulating a style is something done typically when you are much younger and trying to find and establish your own niche. I was definitely more influenced by popular culture when I was in my teens and 20’s. I enjoy being fashion forward, even in my 50’s, but find ways to incorporate current trends without copying someone else’s style. For example: cut my hair in this current style courtesy of being totally enamoured by the whole 20’s era of Downton Abbey. I felt inspired by the show and its gorgeous historical glamour (makes me wish our culture would abolish sweats..except maybe in the privacy of ones own home, of course :P). Certainly not trying to emulate Michelle Dockery though.
I definitely more inspired by classic looks from. I guess Audrey Hepburn, Bridget Bardot, Sharon Tate, the cast of the TV show Charlie’s Angels to name a few. They offer inspiration but I definitely put my own spin on things. I don’t copy anyone head to toe but I get ideas from them. I have never bought something bc so and so uses it. In the end I do what works for me!
Absolutely Erica. I’m thinking of rare moments where I have purchased something where it looked great on the hanger or I took a gamble and found I stepped too far outside of my own personal aesthetic . When you walk out of the house in that state: you just never feel all that good, but you learn from it.
If anything .. finding out so and so uses it is usually a huge deterrent for me. I’m no part of a sheep either. 😀
Hey Christine, I’m having problems logging into your site and keep getting “Login Cooldown in effect. You must wait X seconds before attempting to login again.” (the # of seconds changes).
I deactivated the plugin until I can have Nick look into it further. No idea why it’s getting worse, not better (I extended the time before cooldown should happen – the point of it is if you try to login too many times too quickly, it’ll force you to wait – e.g. a bot or spammer trying to get into the site).
Well, I puzzled till my puzzler was sore, but I can’t think of any one celebrity. I’m pretty eclectic. I don’t try to copy any one directly. If I had to throw out some beauty look influences: Lady Gaga; Morticia Addams; 40s & 50s pinups, especially Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor; Cyd Charisse; Elizabeth Taylor; Dita von Teese; Gwen Stefani; Cyndi Lauper; Siouxsie Sioux; Debra Harry; Madonna; David Bowie; Joan Jett; Katy Perry; Rihanna; Nicki Minaj; Jeffree Star; Kat von D; Grace Jones; Amy Lee.
“I puzzled till my puzzler was sore” ROTFL!!! ?
My puzzler got sore, too!!! This question, though! I couldn’t think of any one single person whose “style captures” mine, just a myriad of different subtle influences that seeped in. Some without me even realizing it! Basically, I’m just “me”.
I would say Jennifer Lawrence and Dakota Johnson. Both have light skin like myself and Dakota is usually brunette like me. They always look well put together, never overdone and always age appropriate. That is what I am to look like so I hope I pull it off.
I don’t look at celebrities in terms of their beauty style and wouldn’t see ‘my beauty style’ in celebrities. I look for clean, easy look and application and see that more in beauty blogs, demos, makeup counter one-on-ones, video tutorials.
I always love seeing Julia Roberts in a Lancome campaign: very minimalist makeup for a natural beauty. Makes me reflect on how to simplify my own application to get a maximum beauty benefit.
I have no clue either!
I can’t really think of anybody! Whenever I wear eyeshadow, it’s usually a very blown-out looking smoky eye and it’s often monochromatic or a two-color “halo” type eye. I’d say the makeup style I go for is more of a mish-mash of looks I’ve seen all over social media and I’m not into looks that big Hollywood celebrities wear because those looks are usually more classic and neutral in color. I’m more about wearing brighter colors or very dark colors on my face.
Haha my daughter and I were saying the same. It is difficult to be inspired by many celebs makeup wise bc they usually go for neutral/minimalist makeup. If you want to be inspired by color, you have to take inspiration elsewhere!
Agree
For full on glam, Carrie Underwood and members of the Kardashian/Jenner clan are always good inspirations. YouTube guru Nicole Guerriero is also great. For low key, more natural looks, I agree that Reese Witherspoon is one to watch. Also, Blake Lively and Kate Hudson have really fresh-faced looks.
Lipstick-wise, Kat Dennings. I applaud her for having full lips like me and sharing my aversion to the “nude lip”.
In all honesty, about the only person I can think of (still living) would be Isabella Rossellini. She’s always seemed to me to be the height of understated elegance and she’s so charming. She is a bit older than I but not much. Even if I were 20 years younger, I’d still look to her….
Back in the day, Twiggy definitely. Now? Probably Reese Witherspoon.
I have been rocking the whole Adele look, especially the eyes, since she was probably a toddler, lol! Fair skin, sometimes red hair, sometimes rubenesque, lol, and major eyeliner. I think she is lovely, sweet, funny and uber talented so I am thrilled that we share a similar look.
Interesting question. I can’t think of anyone in particular. Sometimes Lady Gaga, sometimes Pink, sometimes Stevie Nicks. I guess I see my “style”, if you can call it that, more in “rock chicks” than movie stars. I’m pretty all over place though. Neutrals and more minimal at work, but definitely bright colors and sparkle outside of work. I’m not afraid to color outside the lines, even as a “mature woman”
Dita Von Teese <3
A combination of Audrey Hepburn and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Olivia Wilde!
Probably Halle Berry 🙂 Her style is either natural or glamorous, two looks I love to pull off on myself.
Halle Berry is beyond beautiful and has a ton of class and grace.
Because we have similar coloring and personal taste in clothing/beauty, I have admired Kate Winslet and Drew Barrymore for years, even though they’re a bit older than me. Kate Winslet is all about sophisticated simplicity and Drew Barrymore is a bit more bohemian and experimental, so I feel like together they do a good job of creating looks I love that would work for “professional me” and “real life me.” 🙂
Love Drew Barrymore!
Nope – I don’t follow celebrities and have no idea!
I’d probably have to say Jessica Alba, Olivia Munn, Mila Kunis, Selena Gomez. I really like the celebs that are natural and classic during the day and that glam it up at night but maintain a look that anyone can achieve.
No one. I don’t really see many celebrities that take chances with their makeup. They all look the same to me. But if I had to choose a YouTube celebrity it would be Nikkietutorials, Jaclyn Hill and Ellarie. They take chances and are not afraid to go above and beyond and try new things. I’ve copied so many of their looks. Their always so beautiful and effortless.
I would be lying if I said I didn’t follow some famous beauties style, somewhat. I love the look the Kardashians rock, I also love JLo, Jennifer Aniston, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe,Julia Roberts, and so many more beauties. So I guess you could say I take a little bit of style from each of them and try to implicate it into a style of my own. Maybe these women are blessed with amazing genes. More likely, their polished looks can be attributed to an army of makeup artists, hair stylists, plastic surgeons and personal trainers. We know that the great majority of us don’t have the resources to look like a celebrity all the time. Nor would we want to for that matter! But, we do still want to look and feel our best, with a minimum of effort and expense.
I’m in my mid 50’s. For many years it’s been singer/songwriter Kate Bush. We have similar coloring and I’ve always loved her eclectic style!
I love Kate Bush! I haven’t thought of her in years! Specifically, as muzak in a junk store/furniture shop in Madison, Wisconsin, 2003-ish. I bought a plexiglass end table for $20, probably partially because I was so happy to be reminded about her (Wuthering Heights)! I know I have cassettes around here somewhere.
I would say Drew Barrymore, because I like to experiment with different looks (both make up and hair), but most often I just want to look naturally beautiful. Lately I’ve been going with a less-is-more type look.
Demi Moore and kim kardashian
That is a great question and for a minute I was stomped but as I thought about it more I would say one single person will not cover or capture my personal beauty style look. I would say my personal beauty style look is a combination and although I do not follow celebrities that much I know enough about the ones I truly like to say yea that would be me…so with that I would say Rihanna, Beyonce, Monica Jlo and the first lady would be a good representation for me…that goes from simple, to edgy, to sheik, to classy and sophisticated…which is exactly my personal beauty style
So many beautiful women with great artists and hair stylists. I can name one I would aspire to but am a 66 yr old grit grants who loves everyday and stage makeup. I’m an RN by profession but love creativity. When I went to school, few girls wore make-up but I loved it. My grt granddaughter had a beautiful colorful tiger face done at a festival. Stunning and she loved it.
Did drama in high school and loved it. What’s not to love?
I still donate to homeless and stray animals l s. Infinitely more important but/ creativity is soooo important. I don’t know it you men and women realize that the creativity and confidence you inspire. Love so many of you.
Audrey Hepburn and Natalie Portman <3
Taylor Swift, for sure. I do lip-heavy looks with winged liner a lot and I think she mostly does the same.
Monica Bellucci. Same age, same skin-, hair and eye colour.
Sophia Loren classic but somehow also modern, her simple look and killer eyes, simply stunning and inspiring 🙂
Nigella Lawson.
Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani – Yep. it’s all about the red lips.
Kerry Washington – classic daytime and nightime glam
Gab Union – fun, trendy, casual
Angela Basset – mature, modern edge
Jennifer Aniston. I like simple approach to makeup and hair.
I like Mila Kunis’ style. Bunette, green eyed, skin with a certain tan. I also like some of Kirsten Stewart eye make up, but she is very fair, unlike me.
Angelina Jolie. Classic refined glam or slow burning, feline sexy. (Though much of the time I am a thrown together jeans wearing mommy.) I even went through a period were I tried bleaching my nearly black hair light blonde, with similarly poor results.
I don’t know. I always admire Cate Blanchette’s ethereal skin and I strive for it. I love Gwen but we don’t have the same coloring. Kate Winslet is always looking good. There are very few pale women in Hollywood let alone as pale as I am. Nicole Kidman and Emma Stone are just a bit darker so if Emma has a good look, I’ve sought out a few of the products she’s used. We have green eyes, similar skin, and similar hair color.
I don’t really emulate any celebrity per se but definitely some have influenced me. I am 56 so some of the older ones: Catherine Deneuve, Sophia Lauren. Current celebs whose style I admire are Marion Cotillard and Juliette Binoche. I admire French womens style as they seem to be very eclectic and less “cookie cutter” than American celebs.
Even when I was younger I didn’t emulate celebrity style much. When everyone else wil ore bright pinks and purples I wore winged eyeliner and a scarlet lip. Now that I’m older I see the trends I wore long ago like the 90’s lip color that I wore for a decade and I want to scream more than copy it lol. It is a clean pulled together look so it’s good but I just wear what I’m in the mood to wear.
Hmmm, this took me awhile to put two in one. How my style of makeup is and my style of clothes. Shanna Moakler. She was married to the Blink- 182 drummer, Travis Barker. I get told alot that I look exactly like her. So much that I had to look up who she was many years ago. I also love Gwen Stephani’s makeup! Very classy looking.
