Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Bare Minerals original. Since I only wear powder anything, it’s just a keeper. It and my skin were meant to be, every single time I wear it someone compliments me.

Estee Lauder / MAC, they have in the end the same parent company, and some of the formulas seem nearly identical; at some point even Smashbox had very similar foundations (I remember years ago the “drama” of the foundation drops from Smashbox and MAC having identical ingredients, but different price).

My favorite foundations are from those two brands, and even if I would pick a foundation that is not my type (e.g. a light coverage, a dewy finish), it wouldn’t be necessarily bad… just not my cup of tea.
Especially if we are talking about the Double Wear and Prolongwear ranges, in which I don’t think I ever found a flop.

The two brands also have an extensive range of shades, and they do yellow undertones well. I have a very strong yellow undertone and it’s hard to find color matches that look natural and don’t make me look sick.

I must say MAC first, followed by Bare Minerals and Estée Lauder. I still haven’t found a foundation I really love, I chose the above brands as I have tried more than one of their foundations and I have liked the ones I’ve tried.
Other brands I could mention, but I have only tried and liked on foundation from them are Chanel and Guerlaine.

I have gotten so many compliments on my ColourPop foundation than any other brand I’ve worn (and I find it works beautifully with my skin). I also like the Make Up For Ever foundations, but won’t pay those prices now that I have a reliable inexpensive option. I can name more foundations that don’t work for me than that I trust!
