What blush finish do you gravitate toward the most?

I love a satin-to-luminous finish, so something that gives a glowing finish but doesn’t look overtly shimmery or sparkly. I find the addition of some finer shimmer ensures that it’s very easy to blend out while allowing for any manner of intense highlighters to be layered on top!

I have oily skin so I need matte everything as far as face products go. I don’t like any shimmer/glow. It just looks like a mess on my skin type.

I’ve been gravitating more towards a shimmery finish. For some reason the mattes and satins seem too flat on me lately. Adding highlighter on top isn’t the same as using a shimmery blush. Not sure why that is.

My favourite finish used to be MAC’s Sheertone Shimmer – I love the subtle dewiness that finish would bring to my cheeks. I like some of the Mineralize blushes for the same reason – they buffed to a gorgeous sheen. Then along came the Extra Dimension blushes and my heart filled with love for them too. I also very much like Becca’s Luminizing Blush (I have the shade Foxglove and it’s so pretty and flattering). I got it at Winners (part of the TJMaxx consortium in Canada) for a really reduced price but even at full price, it’s a gorgeous blush and were I ever to see Dahlia or Camellia, I’d grab ’em!

As little as two years ago, I would have answered a soft, pale matte would be my ideal. At some point, and due to a post here on the blog, I purchased Ciate Summer Love and it changed my entire blush life. Now, I much prefer a satin/shimmery blush. I don’t worry too much about pigmentation unless it is so pigmented and doesn’t blend well, to boot. I always swirl off blush on my wrist before going to the cheek as I have made many mistakes applying too much pigment and then having a seriously hard time blending it out. I enjoy every level of shimmer as long as there isn’t discernible glitter. I also love layering blushes to get a really unique effect.
