What blush finish do you gravitate toward the most?

I love a satin-to-luminous finish, so something that gives a glowing finish but doesn’t look overtly shimmery or sparkly. I find the addition of some finer shimmer ensures that it’s very easy to blend out while allowing for any manner of intense highlighters to be layered on top!

I’m gravitating to blush/highlight hybrids lately“““““““(my corgi pup, George, standing on my keyboard)

So I prefer a light shimmer finish. I also gravitate to satin and super sheer mattes. I like my cheeks to be subtle but have light playing over them. I frequently layer products.

I have oily skin so I need matte everything as far as face products go. I don’t like any shimmer/glow. It just looks like a mess on my skin type.

I’ve been gravitating more towards a shimmery finish. For some reason the mattes and satins seem too flat on me lately. Adding highlighter on top isn’t the same as using a shimmery blush. Not sure why that is.

My favourite finish used to be MAC’s Sheertone Shimmer – I love the subtle dewiness that finish would bring to my cheeks. I like some of the Mineralize blushes for the same reason – they buffed to a gorgeous sheen. Then along came the Extra Dimension blushes and my heart filled with love for them too. I also very much like Becca’s Luminizing Blush (I have the shade Foxglove and it’s so pretty and flattering). I got it at Winners (part of the TJMaxx consortium in Canada) for a really reduced price but even at full price, it’s a gorgeous blush and were I ever to see Dahlia or Camellia, I’d grab ’em!

I like matte and satin because my skin is oily already, and even despite that I still want to use highlighter. I don’t want it to be a disco ball all over the place, I guess. ?

I haven’t been wearing foundation lately, so I like cream or creamy hybrid type formulas. When I wear foundation, lately I prefer matte blushes.

Definitely satin finish and skin-like, satiny mattes! Anything too shimmery *can* sometimes make me look greasy because I do still have an oily t-zone. But flat mattes can look too dull and dead, though.

I’m a matte girl all the way. It’s not just th fact that my pores are on the larger size (the kind that are emphasized by any tiny shimmer), I always think mattes flatter me more.

As little as two years ago, I would have answered a soft, pale matte would be my ideal. At some point, and due to a post here on the blog, I purchased Ciate Summer Love and it changed my entire blush life. Now, I much prefer a satin/shimmery blush. I don’t worry too much about pigmentation unless it is so pigmented and doesn’t blend well, to boot. I always swirl off blush on my wrist before going to the cheek as I have made many mistakes applying too much pigment and then having a seriously hard time blending it out. I enjoy every level of shimmer as long as there isn’t discernible glitter. I also love layering blushes to get a really unique effect.

Definitely luminous and satiny, I find that more shimmery blushes will easily start emphasizing the texture on my cheeks! They give such a pretty youthful glow, too.

Fine shimmer (nothing frosty) and duochromes. Though in actual practice, I think I use mattes just as frequently. It all depends on what other makeup I’m wearing.
