What are three permanent products you'd be sad to see discontinued?

Surprisingly, it’s easier to think about permanent favorites that I’d be sad to see go than limited edition ones. Cover FX Monochromatic Blush Duos–so pretty and really versatile–in general! Marc Jacobs Flesh & Fantasy AirBlush has been a go-to, more “neutral” blush (when I don’t know what to pair with an eye look) that has a great finish and works so well for my skin tone. Dior Hologlam Blush, which I love and find hard to replicate (as a single product).

MAC Craving lipstick, Dior Rosy Glow Awakening Blush (or whatever the heck it’s called) and then it’s a toss up among IT Bye Bye Undereye or their CC cream or Australian Gold Tinted Sunscreen or Sephora Cappuccino eye contour pencil.

Whatever Samantha Ravndahl would pick, because I don’t want to see her go through that pain again. ? Maybe Bite’s Changemaker foundation, Becca’s undereye corrector, and…I don’t think I’ve seen her mention Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter for a Superstar Youth Glow in a minute but that’s my third guess. I haven’t actually used any of these, but she’s been through so much already!!

Personally, I would likely be upset about my cheapo favorites disappearing, like e.l.f.’s clear brow gel and ColourPop’s Super Shock Cheek in Flexitarian. I probably wouldn’t be happy about trying to find a replacement for Jack Black’s lip balm after all these years!

Replacing and old favorite lip balm is hard… Paula’s Choice discontinued their lip balm with SPF 50 and once I finish my last back-up, I don’t know what I will do. I have other lip balm favorites, but nothing else with SPF managed to satisfy me.

1. The number one product that would absolutely devastate me if it were discontinued is Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup. I have tried so many foundations, from drugstore to high-end, and nothing, NOTHING comes close to EL Double Wear. If this ever goes away, I’ll cry.

2. Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks in general, but especially Amethyst. When I’m in the mood to do a quick one-and-done eye look, this is the perfect eyeshadow, and I’ve also used it as a liner on my bottom lash line and it stays on all day.

3. Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Pirate is my absolute favorite red. The shade and formula are perfect for my coloring and the packaging is sleek and elegant. I even love the shade name.

P.S. Christine, what brush do you use with Hologlam?

I think the Marc Jacobs blushes might be recently discontinued? I wanted to repurchase Kinks and Kisses but can’t find them anywhere anymore

They took it off Sephora’s website ?
Last time I checked (a month ago) it was available on MJB’s website. Wish I could order from there but I’m not sure if they ship to Canada/whether I’ll be hit with duties.

Pandemic brain fry. I couldn’t come up with three LE. I couldn’t even come up with one. I do not think there are many items I couldn’t live without because there are usually new options which I eventually find will outperform the old. That said, I would be struggling to find replacements for:
1. IT cosmetics CC (can be sheered out beautifully with moisturizer or sunscreen) or can be worn as is for great coverage
2. GA Power Fabric concealer (the PMG, Hourglass are good but have far too much coverage for my tastes, shapetape and TFBTW are too drying)
3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light. If I am looking wan, which happens for us green girls, this is a complexion pick me up that works,every.time.
4. I have to add one more. Tatcha Camelia Gold Spun lip balm. I don’t know how many pots of this I have gone through and during Big S sales, I always grab a couple.

If any one knows a replacement for the original La Mer powder, I’m all ears. I have tried many and they all fail.,,cakey, drying, powdery, yuck. I am on my last third of my last container… I use it sparingly.

1. CT Hollywood Flawless Filter–this stuff is dreamy and blends better than anything in its category (I could say it’s its own category).
2. Marc Jacobs Velvet Primer epic lash primer (but I think I could find a replacement, but this one so far lasts the longest and doesn’t clump like so many competitors).
3. Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer, but now that I’ve tried the liquid version, I’d be happy with that too!

ABH Modern Renaissance. It’s THE PALETTE that got me into palettes and I love it for it’s versatility. Perfect for work. Perfect for a glam look. A little neutral. A little warm. A little cool. Some mattes. Some shimmer. Still so inspiring and easy to use. It went on sale once and I panicked bc I feared It would be discontinued and bought a back up. I never do that!

MAC lipsticks Velvet Teddy and Hug Me. I swear if they dare think about discontinuing those two esp I’ll scream!

NARS Orgasm. Yes it’s over hyped. Yes they to stop creating collections around it. But I love it. It has the perfect glow and none of its dupes compares. It was one of my first high end blush purchases so it holds a special place in my heart. I laugh at its universal claim but it is a perfect blush for me!

1. Estee lauder double wear foundation – my HG (4w2)
2. Marc Jacobs Highliner Crayon – my HG eyeliner, which doesn’t trigger my eye allergies (blacquer)
3. Guerlain Cils D’enfer volume curl sculpting eye mascara – same reason of 2

The Cover Fx Monochromatic blushes are being discontinued? I find that so hard to believe because they are SO popular! Good thing I snagged the last few colours I needed recently when they were on sale.

*Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (the classic version). It has been such a cult product for years, a foundation that I know it will always work for me, with a good shade range and a perfect match for me (sometimes I can’t find a matching one even when 30+ shades are available). It’s also such a versatile foundation, I can apply it either full coverage or sheer it out to a minimal natural look.

Benefit Gimme Brow: Oh… the first brow product I ever used and still my favorite. I love they expanded the shade range, hate that they switched to the awfully cheap looking silver wand like packaging (I liked way better the classic old look). The brush is so small, but precise, perfect shape for my liking; I don’t like the big brushes or the skinny long ones brands started using nowadays.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Primer: A new one, but I never repurchased a backup so fast. I simply can’t imagine nowadays eyeshadows without it. Better yet, they seemed to have fixed the packaging and product doesn’t ooze out like crazy.

I have sort of been through this on a major scale because when I stopped buying products from companies that enabled animal testing, I had to find replacements for a number of products as the old ones were used up. For me they may as well have ben discontinued. I have way more than three—-Benefit PoreFessional and Dr. Brandt Pores No More primers, Diorshow and Lancôme Monsieur Big mascaras, YSL Touché Eclat, and Chanel nail polishes are the ones I miss most. Having been through the replacement process, though, I can’t think of any product for which I have not found a substitute.

I miss Laura mercier original Silk creme foundation and tinted moisturizer. I could mix them for the perfect coverage. And Chanel Midnight Red lipstick and nail polish.

CAROLYN Avatar

1. Tarte Rainforest of the sea foundation. I have perfect matches go my winter and summer shades which is difficult with a peach undertone.
2. The Becca Velvet Blurring primer. I know a lot of people dislike this primer but it makes my skin so smooth and blurred so I hope enough people like it.
3. Becca Ultimate Lipstick Love lipsticks. I own so many shades and they are perfection. Creamy but they don’t migrate. Weightless, smooth, they never settle into lip lines. I just love them.

I already lost one: UD’s 24/7 eye pencil in Underground. It was the perfect shade that made my lashes look thicker and defined my eyes without looking harsh. If I ever had an HG of anything that would be it. Still haven’t found a suitable replacement.

Two others would be:
1. May Coop’s Raw Sauce – I love how this feels when I put it on. It’s like a long cool draw of water straight into my skin. I could just be missing it but I haven’t seen another product like this on the market.
2. Nars Dolce Vita lipstick – It’s my steady go to when I want to wear something but I don’t know what.

Urban Decay Primer Potion
KVD Beauty Tattoo Liner
…and one that was already discontinued, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Chains. I bought a bunch during the anniversary collect rerelease because I’m terrified to run out.

1- Milk Makeup Flex Concealer
2- L’Oréal True Match Foundation
3- Physicians Formula Bronzer
– Honorable mention to Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish Color Corrector

Maybelline EYESTUDIO Brow Define + Fill Duo (I don’t use the fill part, but the pencil is the best I’ve found to create realistic lines for a pencil – even compared to Urban Decay, Anastasia Beverley Hills, etc. and the color match is spot on for me). I don’t even know if any Maybelline product other than Great Lash mascara is permanent, but I hope the EYESTUDIO brows products are.

Wayne Goss brushes, n°2 in particular.

FENTY Gloss bombs, in particular the original color, Fenty Glow

1. MAC Face & Body foundation. I don’t see this ever getting discontinued because of how universally loved it is but you never know. This was my first ever high-end foundation and after stepping back from makeup over the past year, it is currently my only foundation! I’ve gone through bottles of this in both sizes.

2. Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. The only one that does every single thing I need from a mascara.

3. ColourPop 21 Questions lux blur lipstick. Both the color and finish are so flattering and brightening on days where I feel a little dull. I actively try to avoid ColourPop because they’ve already discontinued a few really top-notch items for me but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this stays permanent and isn’t tossed aside to make room for these rapid-release collections 🙁
