Skintone: Medium Warm (I’ve gotten a little sun so I’m more MAC NC37)
Favorite of the week: Jouer Skinny Dip Foiled Eyeshadow palette.
Most used: Jouer Skinny Dip highlighter
New beauty discovery: Modern Renaissance is a great accompaniment to the Skinny Dip Palette!
Okay, still playing with make up (I’ve been at this for six hours now) and I’ve got NEW discoveries: Urban Decay’s Jean-Michel Basquiat lipstick in Epigram looks lovely when topped with Jouer’s Lip Topper in Skinny Dip. When I use the eye shadow Influence (bronze-gold) from the UD Jean-Michel Basquiat Gold Griot palette as all over lid color, I can pop Forever Young (a cooler toned gold) from Anastasia’s Nicole Guerriero palette in center of lid for dimension and I really like this look. In using the Anastasia Nicole Guerriero and UD Gold Griot palettes together, I also really loved BK (grey) all over lid, Pseudonym (navy) in outer corner, Forever Young (the highlighter) to highlight center of lid, and Forever Lit (highlighter) on inner corners and brow bone. I really should stop now but I’m having so much fun. This has been the best make up day ever!
This all sounds so beautiful, Tammy!
Having the best make up days are what it’s all about :o)
That sounds like a great makeup day! I love your suggestions and I’ll be sure to try them out this week! Thanks for sharing!
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Most loved product of the week: That I’m planning to buy: UD Naked Heat collection; bhCosmetics Foil Eyes 2 palette.
Most used product of the week: Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black; Paula’s Choice CALM Redness Relief Moisturizer; lip balms. Between migraines and allergies, I haven’t been wearing much makeup.
Any new beauty discoveries?: Nothing this week
Hi Rachel,
I too suffer from allergies so I know what it feels like but when I was in my 20’s I went for allergy injections for three years and it helped a lot. I still have them but not half as bad as before. I always have a box of kleenex with me. It must be rough to have migraines also! I will get a migraine but it is maybe once a year so it isn’t too bad. I hope you feel better.
Thank you, Maria. I take several allergy prescription allergy medications, but right now three of my prime allergens are in bloom. I’ve asked for shots in the past, but since I take allergy meds year round, the doctors never want to give them to me.
I hope you have a much healthier week next week Rachel. The allergies are no doubt due to your spring/summer pollens and hayfever is so debilitating. Migraines are worse! What a horrible week you must have had.
Thank you, Genevieve. I’m doing much, much better now. It actually wasn’t my worst migraines, but they triggered a condition I have called “sleep paralysis with hallucinations,” and gave me some of the worst episodes I’ve had in my life, so my sleep was really messed up, too.
It sounds pretty horrible Rachel – trying to go to sleep and not knowing whether you will have one of these episodes would be frightening. I hope you get a better night’s rest this week.
Skin tone coloring: Medium olive or warm?
Most loved product of the week & newly discovered for me: I only used it twice but I love Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion foundation it looks so beautiful on the skin. It is full coverage no need for concealer and it stays put keeps your skin hydrated not oily and is luminous. To know for sure I need to use it some more and inspect it at the end of the day. I usually apply makeup and I go I don’t reapply or look at it at the end of the day to see if it still looks good.
Most used & rediscovered: Becca Tint shimmer souffle in Watermelon/moonstone
New beauty discovery that I had but finally I am wearing: Dior Addict Fluid Stick in 575 Wonderland it is soooo pretty.
I am intrigued by the Sulwhasoo Cushion. My color is backordered at Nordstrom. I’m also interested in the Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Wonderland but that’s backordered too. Lack of availability is saving me money ☹️
Tammy your too funny. I’m sure they’ll be back in stock soon. Beautylish is where I purchased the Sulwhasoo cushion foundation and I believe they have stock in all shades.
~nw20. Did the not so impressed question disappear, or did I imagine it? Mostly not wearing any color by choice. Tried some new stuff that did not impress much. A Tory Burch palette…catch, from CCO. Not bad, but I expected better from one of the H-er E of Lauder products. Blends fairly well, and the colors are ok, but zero wow factor. Got the nudestix Babeboss set. Only had 1 nudestick, from an S assortment and wanted to try other formulas. First tried it after some sun exposure, and they all hurt. Attributed it to the sun, etc. Color is always a matter of personal choice. But I don’t think any of the formulas are great for me. The red (stiletto) is ok, both cheeks and lips, but for a nonliquid lip, it’s very drying. The other intense matte lip+ cheek, purity, is a neutral rose that might be a MLB on some, but is not true to tube on me, for lips. On cheeks, looks rather like bite cashew, but you can feel that the formula is somehow, cheaper. On both, they aren’t the same! Weird. Would you not think that the same stick would grossly match, like bite does? Not. The magnetic matte lip colors have a spoiled taste in both boho, the more nude, and burgundy. It’s one of the chemicals; they are not truly spoiled. But, boy, they are sharp and nasty. Sin lip and cheek pencil is semi-sheer, and a hit of bright, for this nude/dark combo. It tastes, but not as nasty. Though glossy, think I like it better on cheeks. The last one is a gel color balm, also dual purpose. It’s vaguely in the Nars bound family, but has little color payoff compared to bound. I believe that is the concept, though, and it’s sheer enough that lip color will influence what color presents greatly. I can use these. A dual purpose product is great for night job touch ups. Oh, and the mirror is funhouse. Seriously distorting of your whole face, but usable to apply to lips. At first I was shocked. So, maybe a keeper, but will never be loved, nor will there be any further purchases from nudestix. Finally got copperplate at CCO. That’s d/c’d I think, and very glad I caught it.
Skintone / coloring : light, NC 20, med brown hair and eyes
Most loved: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Crimper
Most used:Too FacedSweet Peach Palette, Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Crimper, Estee Lauder Double Wear, Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder in Invisible Matte and Too Faced Bronzed & Poreless Matte Bronzer
New beauty discoveries : Wearing a BB Cream as a base under foundation. Wore Bobbi Brown BB Cream under Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation
Yep, that’s what I do and it really works for me. I find that my foundations lasts twice as long and the effect is a really smooth finish.
I find it works too now that it’s warmer. Helps the foundation last longer but also the matte foundation isn’t so flat. Really liking the effect!
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain with pink undertones
Most loved product of the week: I quite like my new Max Factor lipstick in Chilli – beautiful shade of red/brown.
Most used product of the week: I am putting Vice 3 in my rotation for the rest of the month and I am re-discovering how versatile this palette really is.
Any new beauty discoveries?: Well, I do love that Copper Spark lippie by Maybelline!
My skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool
Most loved product of the week: La Roche Posay toner – it’s warming up here big-time and this stuff is so nice for de-slicking my T-zone
Most used product of the week: Cargo Yukon eyeshadow and Marc Jacobs skinny liner in black on my upper waterline
Any new beauty discoveries?: Bite Beauty Beetroot lipstick – got a points perk mini and love it, especially when it fades a bit and leaves a very MLBB stain.
My skin tone/coloring: Light/fair with neutral undertones
Most loved product of the week: Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Wattles…the perfect one and done eye shadow
Most used product of the week: Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder…It’s a good powder, and I’m trying to finish it.
Any new beauty discoveries?: I haven’t bought this yet, but I was playing at Sephora and discovered the Sephora Gel Serum Concealer. It looks interesting. Has anyone tried it?
Dana, I bought it some time back when the UD Naked concealer was ALWAYS sold out in the lighter shades. It’s not bad but I find it doesn’t conceal as much as I would like it to (under the eyes) – my dark circles are still more visible than is idea. But it’s not a bad product at all.
oops, sorry, that should read “than is ideal”. I need to proofread before I hit “post”.
Thanks, Mariella, for this info.
I’ve tried the Sephora Gel Serum Concealer. I don’t use it under my eyes, so I can’t speak to that. It’s been wonderful for covering blemishes, though. (My skin type is oily.)
Thanks Rachel! That’s awesome to know…my skin type is also oily.
Skin tone: Mac NC15, NARS Sheer glow Gobi, Bourjois 51.
Most loved product of the week: New Wayne Goss eyeshadow brushes, so good!
Most used product of the week: Mac Viva Glam ll lipstick, such a great nude colour.
New beauty discoveries: I just repurchased the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, so flawless and beautiful! I’m so happy to have this in my life again!
I also purchased the new Kat Von D Lolita eyeshadow and blush, it’s so pretty! I wore it yesterday along with Lolita liquid lipstick, it turned out great! It makes me sad that this is limited edition!
Skintone: fair, netural (getting a little sunkissed and freckle covered as well)
Favorite of the week: UD Naked Skin One and Done! i use the shade light and its perfect for a wash of coverage, that will hide some redness but let my freckles show. And not to mention sun protection!
Most Used: Maybelline Lash sensational Mascara, Kat Von D tropper liner, and UD Ultimate Naked Basics (mainly the cooler shadows)
New Beauty Discovery: the Ultimiate Basics since my boyfriend surprised me with it 🙂
My skin tone/coloring: Light neutral
Most loved product of the week: Neutrogena Healthy Defense SPF 30. It’s a little greasier than I would like but it has SPF for uva AND uvb rays and it doesn’t break me out despite being greasy so I can’t complain!
Most used product of the week: The above plus Kiko Solar Protect Balm in SPF 20. I was in Europe for two weeks and I needed something with SPF for my lips too – can’t be too careful, my grandma had skin cancer on her lips a few years back so now I’m paranoid.
Any new beauty discoveries?: if it counts, the CG method for my hair! I started it about a month ago and my hair is already so much better IMO.
