Viseart Tryst Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Tryst
Viseart Tryst 9-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.49 oz.) is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette that is exclusive to Beautylish. Overall, it’s a nice palette that I expect will make a good “everyday” palette for some. Darling could have been more pigmented and had a creamier consistency, while Dangereuse and Illicit had room for minor improvement.
I’m happy to see Viseart release another 9-pan palette, too, as I think the packaging is an upgrade from their standard palette packaging and the price point is more attractive.

Dangereuse
Dangereuse is a soft peach with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It almost read like a satin-to-matte finish on me as it “melted” on my lid and didn’t look truly flat and matte. The texture was a touch powdery in the pan but had a smooth, velvety consistency that blended out well and adhered well to my bare lids without sheering out too readily (but it did not build up to full opacity without a primer). It had semi-opaque pigmentation that lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Formula Overview
-
The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.
The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Rendezvous
Rendezvous is a bright, very light peach with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation that applied beautifully to bare skin. The consistency was soft, blendable, and smooth to the touch, so there was little excess product kicked up in the pan, even after using fluffier brushes to pick it up. It started to show signs of fading on me after eight and a half hours of wear.

Flirt
Flirt is a bright, peachy gold with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic sheen. The color payoff was fantastic, while the texture was smooth, lightly creamy but not overly dense so it was still easy to pick up with fluffier brushes and blended out beautifully on the lid. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before creasing faintly.

Liaison
Liaison is a rich, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color payoff with a smooth, velvety texture that wasn’t too soft nor too firm in the pan, so it was easy to work with but didn’t have any issues with fallout. I noticed the shade went on a bit darker on the skin than it appeared in the pan. The color lasted for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably on my lid.

Darling
Darling is a soft, pinky-coral with a golden sheen. It had decent pigmentation, but the eyeshadow felt a little drier and more loosely pressed, and I felt like it had a faded quality to it in practice without applying over a primer or using a dampened brush. It was dusty to work with and had some fallout while I blended it out. It wore well for seven and a half hours on its own.

Illicit
Illicit is a deep plum that looked rather matte but had a few bits of sparkle strewn throughout. I found that the sparkles were barely noticeable on the lid, so it functioned more as a matte finish when it came to adding depth to a look. The consistency was smooth, just a touch dry to the touch, but it blended out nicely and had nearly opaque coverage, which was buildable to full coverage by adding less than an additional layer on top. This shade stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

I want this! Lucky Sephora doesn’t seem to have it yet so maybe passion will cool.
Here’s hoping 🙂
I wish this wasn’t LE… OMG. LUST!
Awww!
This reminds me, in broad strokes, of the White Peach Palette, but with a better formula and deeper shades to make it more useable.
I hope it sticks around till I can grab it.
Fingers crossed you can try it 🙂
The plums in this are so pretty!
They were!
Fabulous colors! Love your spring/valentine look! And glad Viseart is listening to customers, releasing new kits at different price points, with more portable packaging and mirror! Well done
Thank you, Katherine!
Very beautiful look Christine! I love the pink/coral colors of the shadows, blush, & lipstick with your coloring. I really don’t need this palette but it’s so tempting. Rapture, Rendevous, & Flirt are my faves.
Thank you, Bonnie!
Hi Christine,
I kept waiting for your review on this Viseart palette but I just ordered the tryst palette a few days ago from Beautylish! I knew that I was going to be dissatisfied with the lightest and darkest shades. Only because I like to have more of a “cream” or “ivory” matte shade as the lightest and the darkest shade I just usually do not wear. I was hoping that it would score at least a solid A, but I am still looking forward to receiving it and trying it out! ?
Thank you for all of your very hard work! ?
Let us know how the palette works for you when you get it! 🙂
Thanks for the review Christine!
While I like Viseart in general and it does seem like an attractive palette, the colour theme just lacks creativity. I’m sure I’ve got similar palette from my purchase in the past year.
No problem! 🙂
I’m tempted by this palette but my only previous experience with Viseart was not very convincing. I got the Petit Pro palette and while I really like the mattes, I absolutely hate the shimmers in there. They swatch well but they apply poorly for me. So I’m not sure if I should get Tryst if they’re at all similar.
I think these are drier, not as silicone-y compared to Petit Pro personally!
i returned the petite pro because i thought the shimmers weren’t impactful enough for the price. i thought most of the shimmers in tryst performed well
Same! I didn’t like the Petit Pro – especially not the shimmers – but I have been loving the Tryst palette
This is a stunning little palette of plum rosy shades that would be perfect for all occasions. The shadows are of excellent quality and the 9 pan size is, again, perfect.
Now I just want the brand to bring out something like this in cool tones…..say greens, taupes and blues.
Oooh!!! This palette is hitting all the sweet spots for a green eyes brunette sitting here reading this! Not 100% sure I truly need it, especially if I figure out a safe way to de-pot my UD Heavy Metal Palette? But I don’t want to wait too long to decide, either. ?
Georgia Harris just posted an instagram about deporting her Heavy Metals palette – unfortunately, I don’t think she’s doing a full video. It looked like a pain…
I was waiting for this review and had committed to not purchasing this until I saw your review. Then I watched Tara’s swatch and eye look video (Tarababyz on YT) and all was lost. I went immediately to Beautylish website and ordered it. I was hoping that it would review well for you and since I know you don’t use primer I figured that as long as it was decent without I could make it work with primer. I love the color story, the size and hopefully the packaging will lend itself to travel which some of the smaller Viseart palettes do not, IMO. I am planning a trip to Europe in the fall and can only bring 2 small palettes and I would like this to be one of them. I haven’t received it yet but I am happy to see that it scored pretty well overall. I think I will be happy with my purchase and glad to see this size palette with a significantly smaller price tag than my other Viseart palettes. The eye look is beautiful, Christine.
I have been enjoying mine; prettier than basic neutral but still suitable for the office. All is working same for me as you experienced. I suppose I have several of these colors in some form or another (e.g., Too Faced peachy mattes), but the quality in these surpasses the others. Conveniently sized and nice package, too.
This looks so beautiful! I’m hesitant to try this though, since I hear the shimmers can vary between the 9 pan palettes, the Theory palettes, and the Petit Pro. Christine, do you know how these shimmers compare to the Theory palettes?
I think these are a little drier, less silicone-heavy.
Is there any news of this showing up at other retailers later on?
I haven’t heard anything yet!
Not feeling the color scheme. Boring to me.I usually love Viseart, easy pass. It does remind me of Too Faced White Peach, I didn’t like that one either. Money saved
I certainly don’t need it, but I love how it looks on you, hope I can resist.
I’m not too tempted by this palette but am here to give a shout-out to:
a) Beautylish customer service
b) your earrings <3 !!!
It’s a beautiful palette. I have enough of these types of shades, but I agree with you. I’d love to see more 9-pan palettes like this in other colorways.
Thanks for your in depth review. I think it’s nice to see someone give fair, minor critiques to the shades that are not quite flawless! I agree totally with A- total.
I too find that Darling has some fallout when blended, which is sad because I wish the rose gold worked better! On the plus side, it’s the only color I really get fallout with – the rest don’t at all. I also agree that Illicit functions basically like a matte (and is preferable this way rofl) – I tell people this palette has 3 mattes when I describe it. In addition, although it isn’t a flaw at all, I was pleased to see you mention that Liason applies a little darker/truer-in-color to the lid than one might expect. I actually find it a little hard to use because… man that is some pink…
I’d say my standout color is actually Rendevous, the palest sparkly pink. It reminds me of Dust from Naked 3 – except you can ACTUALLY USE IT! Dust is lovely in pan but it is fallout glitter central, it’s so hard to use it for a quick look in the morning. By contrast when I grab Tryst palette and reach for Rendevous, usually either for a quick lid color or for a highlight shade, it’s so damn easy to apply and so rich in color!! It’s the color I’ve always wanted to grab but I never had an easily-used version of it! I am very fond of all the colors but this is probably the best-performing one for me.
I also agree that the 9 pan $49 price point is perfect. The construction of these palettes is spot on, the value per dollar is really in a good place for these. The huge mirror and reliable, solid construction makes them more “trustworthy” and useful as an on-the-go palette to stick in my purse. I hope Viseart continues to do a nice job of catering some products to makeup pros and others (like this) spot-on to consumers 🙂
I know people have said “Oh I have these shades,” but ….. I guess I don’t! I’ve used it every day since I got it. I’m a sucker.
Thanks for the review!
These are all great shades! What a beautiful look you created!
I want it I want it I want it.
I really hope I’ll be able to get my hands on one before stock runs out!
