My guess is that they went with the most popular shades/ones that sold the most. It is disappointing if you like the shades that were discontinued. I could see them popping up as limited edition or some other marketing campaign.

Loving that Urban Decay is introducing hydrating lipsticks, specially satins and sheers. Look forward to these lippies.

Lauren Avatar

Please please please UD get your lipstick reformulation right! I love my Vice lipsticks and am all for hydrating formulas. I own the previous version of many of these and am getting low, so if these are good I’ll definitely pick a few up. I wish they brought back more of the plummy shades.

Jen Avatar

Maybe they’ll look different in person but it feels like the colors have gotten a lot tamer and less diverse. Maybe the trend is toward more basic shades right now? Regardless, I’m looking forward to checking out the new shades. I hope the formula stays good. Vice lippies are one of my mainstays.

I can’t help remembering the Revolution formula – oh, how I miss that. I just hope these new Vice ones are reasonably good – looking at their new eyeshadows, I’m not all that hopeful, though (but I hope I’m wrong). I’m glad Manic is back but I’m sad there’s no Gash or Mrs. Mia Wallace.

Helene Avatar

I still have and use two lipsticks in the Revolution formula. I guess I don’t have a lot of time before they start turning bad so I’ll enjoy while I can. 🙂
One of them is F-Bomb, by the way, one of fey lipsticks I have a backup for, though in the Vice formula.
Gash is such a great one, I missed out on Mrs. Mia Wallace, something I want to kick myself for.

Mariella Avatar

I have Mrs. Mia Wallace in the Vice formulation (the one being d/c’d now, I guess) but regret not having bought the Revolution one….I think that formula was so good and I liked the outer packaging much more than Vice (trying to look like a bullet – no thanks!) I have F-Bomb but it might be in a mini (I’ve got to dig through my lipstick bag….I might have a full size and not realize it). I always hated the name….I teach secondary school students and I’m so sick of hearing the F-bomb but then I have issues with several of the UD drug and sexualized names (and UD isn’t the only one – don’t get me started on NARS!) I just hope UD doesn’t screw up these new lipsticks.

Nguyen Avatar

I hope you realize that the naming schemes that they use falls in line with the name, “Urban Decay”. It’s this kinda mindset that’s causing UD to move away from edge-y and towards basic.

NARS though is just stupid and likely doing it for shock value.

Mariella Avatar

Oh gosh….I NEVER knew! (I’m being sarky). I know why they’ve used the names they do/did but it doesn’t mean I have to like it and, seriously – shock value??? And it seems more like they’ve moved away from edge-y to towards “crappy” – their newest “replacements” are just awful quality.

Fey Avatar

I love the promo image! That is so fun! I’m seeing some great shades, too. I’m a fan of the case. I love the name June Gloom. Glad to see a lot of come-back shades too. Excited!

AJ Avatar

I wish the color selection was more exciting, but if these are actually hydrating and long-wearing, I might pick up a few to replace any lipsticks that have gone off in the past 16 months of staying home and not wearing makeup often, lol.

Stephanie Avatar

I’m sad they discontinued my holy grail MLBB color Safe Word. But glad I have 2 of those lipsticks before they’re gone. Maybe there’s a somewhat similar dupe out of this new batch and the formula will be good. I’m anxious to see your reviews soon!

Z Avatar

I didn’t think about it until I pulled out my one and only UD lipstick today….but they’re ditching the bullet casing look with this update. So, they’re removing all of the hard edges they’d had left in favor of bland “for the masses” appeal?

Adrienne Avatar

I think the shade name “Oatmilk” totally sums up Urban Decay’s new vibe. Perhaps the formerly edgy brand will complete its transformation by changing its name to Urban Renewal. Loved the old Vice lipsticks. I’m not holding my breath to buy these new ones.

Amy S Avatar

Oh boy I wish I had paid attention and realized right away they discontinued Rapture, I would have stocked up. It took me so long to find that color since they discontinued Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum. Aargh.
