Urban Decay Vice Eyeshadow Palette for Holiday 2012

Urban Decay Vice Eyeshadow Palette for Holiday 2012

Urban Decay launches the Vice Palette for fall—an insanely gorgeous new palette that’s ALL about eyeshadow. All twenty new shades (yes, twenty!) were created exclusively for the palette—you’ve never seen these colors before because they are BRAND-freaking new…and you can’t find them anywhere else. With a range of mattes, shimmers, satins, neutrals and brights, there’s something for everyone. Limited Edition.

From our makeup artist team to our makeup-obsessed staff, everybody’s flipping out over Junkie, a shimmery green; Black Market, a jet black-satin; Blitz, a breathtaking gold; and Chaos, a bright blue matte, a shade that Wende calls “…totally amazing. And there’s a velvety smoothness and depth of color that are never-before-seen qualities in a color-rich matte.”

It all comes housed in a sleek purple soft-touch case topped with a sparkling jeweled UD icon. The sophisticated case boasts a large mirror and a double-ended Good Karma Shadow and Crease Brush (a current customer favorite)! We even borrowed motion-control technology from the automotive industry–with the push of a button, the slow-opening lid dramatically unveils all 20 shades, seducing the eye with anticipation.

Every eyeshadow contains Urban Decay’s brand new Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendability.

LOL… I know… but now its become Ubiquitous. besides… the “nekkid” thing was a joke since last time I tried to type the actual name and it wouldnt le me coz of some discrepancy

Kafka Avatar

Wow. WOW! This looks amazing! Jagged in particular, though Occupy, Junkie and Armor are calling my name too. 20 eyeshadows for $59 seems like a really fantastic deal too, especially when you consider that the recent Fun/Feminine/Dangerous palettes had 6 for $36. I still want 2 of those, but maybe I will hold off until I see the reviews for this one.

GUSnail Avatar

I’m not a big fan of pallettes, but this one looks really interesting. A really great mix of colors. I hope it gets positive reviews. Christin, will you be reviewing it?

Jaz Avatar

I saw someone’s swatches on this , and I decided to just wait for the high quality swatches aka yours. I am excited for this palette. My debit card is not gonna be happy with me after this , because I also want the Ocho Loco Set , and the Stila holiday liner set. OY VEY. Why does everything have to be so beautiful this year?

Wwendalynne Avatar

Ooooooofff..I’m feeling the ole one-two punch from Urban Decay on all these amazing offerings for Holiday 2012! I already have the pencil collection and Fun palette in my sights.. and now this one? OOooooof!

OrangeLipstickBlog Avatar

Well, the packaging was the big bugaboo for me. The lid just falls off! Plus, I was not pleased with Midnight Rodeo and Midnight 15, which both had ridiculous fallout on me. Unfortunately, I just don’t find myself reaching for it that much.

Lee Avatar

Wow, I guess UD took all the complaints about constantly re-using the same colors in every palette to heart. 🙂 This looks beautiful; I hope the shadows are up to UD’s usual quality.

Kristabelle Avatar

Oh damn, this has to come along right when I talked myself out of buying any more palettes lol. That slow-opening lid sounds insanely annoying though, I don’t need ‘anticipation’ when I’m in a rush in the morning.

Jessica Avatar

that’s so funny! I was thinking the exact same thing! when I have 5 minutes to do my makeup at 6 am, I doubt I’ll find the “slow-opening” motion-activated lid too cute… haha

Nicoco Chanel Avatar

CHAOS.

YESSSS.

/DROOLS.

Ahem. I mean. This palette looks lovely. And it’s nice to see that it doesn’t appear to have loads of wasted space. Unhinged looks really similar to Shattered in these images but that is never a bad thing!

Daniela Avatar

Today I said that I wouldn’t buy eyeshadows for a very long time because I really don’t need anything new. Yeah, not going to happen after seeing this palette, I’m so buying it!

May Avatar

I don’t like palettes, but there are some gorgeous shades in this one.
If these will also be released as singles, I would be rather interested in Chaos, Black Market, Desperation and Noise! 🙂

sophie Avatar

*breathes deeply*

I don’t need this. I don’t. I have enough eyeshadows – hell, I have enough UD palettes – to last me a decade. I don’t need this.

But damnit, I want it!

(However, does anyone else think that a “slowly opening” lid would get reeeeally annoying after a while? I assume you can override it and just yank it open without breaking the mechanism?)

Z Avatar

Color me annoyed. I wrote UD off back when they had their whole “selling in china” fiasco, plus the palettes are dull and I’ve got far too many that aren’t being used.

*But*, I still love my anniversary palette – it’s beautiful AND the colors are great – and this one is actually kind of making me want to buy it. It helps there are new shades. As much as I love Smog, I’ve got three, and as much as I’m indifferent to Midnight Cowboy, I don’t need more of those either. Damn.

HélèneSud Avatar

only 3 words : “I WANT IT”….
I’m fan of UD eyeshadows (even I love MAC too) and this new palette seems absolutely fab !!!
I hope that we can get it quickly in France !!
many thanks for this review !!
I do love your website : when I decide to buy a product I come and have look on your comments : In your advice I trust !
xoxoxo

Tani Avatar

Looks nice but I wish there were some brighter colours instead of some of the neutrals. I’d really, really, really want an UD palette full of bright colours but I’ll keep wishing for that. Chaos looks absolutely beautiful though.

I wonder when this will come to the UK though as I probably will buy it when it does.

Queenielizzie Avatar

Oh This is exciting. Was just talking with a friend about getting Naked2 but this looks far more awesome (and I think a better value?) can’t wait to see swatches!

Liza Avatar

I want this so unvelieveably bad. I hope it doesnt sell out. I had to over pay for BOS IV and some other UD palettes because they sold out so fast. I really want to go to the event in NY, but those things get so crowded so fast.

Mariella Avatar

Why does UD keep doing this to me??? I have more eyeshadows that I know what to do with but my resistance is SO low and I know I’ll be buying this unless it turns out to be disappointing (I wish….it would be so much easier to resist if it sucks!)

lilly04 Avatar

Holy crab it looks amazing. I was sure i don´t need more palettes and shadows than i still own. I resist a lot of new stuff from UD and others. So, i absolutly don´t need it, but i want it :). I need a new storage. 😀

Elle Avatar

GRRRR and of course I bought the smashbox master class palette yesterday. I NEED THIS. Chaos is such a stunner. Hopefully it’s better than NARS’ Outremer, because i’m going to buy this palette for sure.

Courtney Avatar

Elle- How do you like the smashbox master class palette?? I’ve had my eye on that one, but then I saw this one…. and I’m not sure which one to choose!

Gina Avatar

It’s a bit more neutral dominated than I’d like, but I LOVE that they combined finishes! I feel like they’re finally starting to listen to people’s complaints about previous palettes 😀 I’m actually excited for swatches.

Cass Avatar

Love the sleek packaging! Much better than the bulky book of shadows. Want! $59 is a good deal for this amount of product, but still a little steep for me. Will wait for reviews because I’m interested in the formula. I’m trying to decide between this or the ocho loco!!

Kathleen Avatar

I want to live in New York. Scratch that, I want to live in UD headquarters… I waited until the 11th to order the Ocho Loco set from Sephora, but I’m not sure if I can wait two more weeks for this palette. I may just have to start stalking the official website on Friday.

Catherine Avatar

Wow I love that they included a mix of finishes – I feel like too many shimmers/glitters and not enough matte shadows was one of the complaints I heard most about UD palettes, so it’s nice to think they listened to customers’ feedback. I like that they went with sleek compact practical packaging this time – always my favorite type.

Wenz Avatar

THIS is a sight for sore eyes after a long day!!!!!!!

The ocho loco liner set is atop my list, but this is a close 2nd. UD is certainly listening to their customers! I cant wait for your review!

Tennyoceres Avatar

I don’t need another eye shadow palette I don’t need another eye shadow palette I don’t need another eye shadow palette I don’t need another eye shadow palette—-

Oh who am I kidding? This is gorgeous. And they’re all unique UD shades? Yeah can’t pass that. Merry early Christmas to me!

Lauren Avatar

I hear your struggle. I have enough eyeshadow to start a new career as a makeup artist. I have quite a few UD palettes (hmmm… Rollergirl, Feminine 2011, UD14, BOS IV, Naked 1), plenty of singles (at least 15 shades), not to mention palettes of other brands, some of which I haven’t touched in months… And I use singles more often than a lot of palettes… But I so want this.

Jen Avatar

F…. I don’t need another eyeshadow palette, but its like $3 a color and a brush. And I just got the smokey palette too… AND I’ve been wanting that $59 eyeliner set too… Argh, my freaking weakness to UD eyeshadows and pencils!!! Now I want this too! 🙁 My poor wallet… I’m going to be so broke…

n8ivebeauT Avatar

I’m right there with you!!! I got the Smoked palette, and will be receiving the Ocho Loco and told myself that would be it and I would be cutting myself off. And now……… I see this. *sigh* UD, how dare you?!!

layla Avatar

BUT…THINK U CAN DUPE THESE COLORS THOUGH… THIS IS NOT A MUST HAVE..YALL…WHEN U POP THEM ON YOUR EYES THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME REALLY …THAN WHAT PPL ALREADY HAVE….IM WEARIN WHAT I GOT…LOL

kharanya Avatar

Hey Christine, I don’t usually comment, though I read your blog religiously. However, I was looking for more info on this palette and came across this site with your pictures, not sure if it’s authorized.

Caroline Avatar

So happy I didn’t get the smokey palette and the fun palette because it’s all right here in the Vice palette! But do really need it since I already have both Naked & 15th anniversary eye shadows? Hmmm. Yup, I need it! Darn you UD! You are my vice!! I need to go to makeup annymous stat!

Ruthie08 Avatar

Am I they only one who doesn’t like this? This reminds me of the 15th anniversary palette which I already have. And I don’t think the colors will work ok for me. I was kinda hoping they would release a naked palette 3 with more matte colors in it. But nah, UD loves their sparkles. I guess inglot will have my Piggy bank this holiday.

Elizabeth Avatar

I was thinking the exact same thing about it being similar to the 15th Anniversary palette. I also have that and almost never use it. I’m not interested in this one either.

Ani_BEE Avatar

No it’s a pass for me as well as I have my 15th palette depotted and do use it. I fee like these a kissing cousin shades to their permanent line. Actually if this was filled with permanent shades I would have jumped for it as I like most of their shade but $22a pop get pricey.

dom Avatar

You’re not the only one. I am head over heels in love with my 15th Anni palette and the colors are so much more striking than Vice. I say go for Inglot! I’ve started my collection already. Their AMC glosses are also to die for.

Ruthie08 Avatar

I’ve already started my inglot collection so far I have 25 eyeshadows and I have another 20 in line. Can’t get enough of them and their mattes!

Evilyn1983 Avatar

Christine, I picked this up yesterday at my local Macy’s and it is FAB! I LOVE it! I posted swatches on the Mac cosmetics LJ community and on my instagram (evilyn1983). I was looking most forward to chaos, and it takes some work to get it to work. Over of UDPP it would NOT stay or blend at all. I had to put it over a creamy base (nyx white cream base) & then it worked fine though. Hardly any fall out with the glitter colors. I love it!

Ani_BEE Avatar

Err sounds like the issue I had with the old Goddess shadow.

These new shimmer formulas from UD can be used wet without ruining the pan, so give that a shoot next time you use chaos.

chicgeek Avatar

So lovely! And besides, the packaging is super sleek – a nice change.

Does anyone know what the availability will be like in Canada? I’ll take a look at Sephora as soon as I get the chance, but it’s not on the website yet.

Lindsey Avatar

I love UD!!! They are going to make me broke though!! I really think that I am going to HAVE to pick up this palette as well as the Smoked and original Naked.

Lori Avatar

UD has definitely name this palette correctly. Their eye shadows are my vice and I was patting myself on the back for resisting their holiday fare so far but this is tempting me. I think I’m going to be getting this one most definitely!

Katie Avatar

Not purchasing this, as I’ve given up Urban Decay, but i do think this is a MAJOR improvement and great replacement for the BOS. i have all of the BOSs, but the packaging on this so soooo much better. sleeker, smaller, the use of space is more efficient. and the lid is attached, unlike the 15th anni palette. if i still bought UD this would be a must-have.

Lauren Avatar

I do like the colors on UD15 but I kind of wish that I hadn’t gotten it because I want the Vice Palette, can’t justify it, but I like the packaging SO much better.

Dominique Avatar

Beautiful but still upset to know that UD wanted to sale in China. They are cruelty free ok but… So I must think it over before purchasing, when you and blogs broke the news, it came as a shock for many of us well I don’t yet what to do.

Rebecca Avatar

I believe Chinese government requires testing on all cosmetics, therefore UD decided not to sell there so they don’t break their cruelty-free policy. At least that’s how I understood it…

stacey Avatar

I called Macys to put my name on the list when it arrives. Macys accidentally sold 2 of them when they were not supposed to. But there is a tester out she say that I can check it out. Oh well, the colors do look like the previous ones that are out…just change the names.

xamyx Avatar

I realize these shades are all being marketed as “new” & “exclusive”, but I’m wondering how many are nearly identical to current shades. I’ll likely pass on this, though.

kendo Avatar

Judging from the photos, these totally look like the same shades we’ve already seen from UD. Hmmm…
The price is pretty great for all those shadows, though.

AhCapp Avatar

This is the most interesting palette I have seen recently! I’m hoping the swatches will be good and the eyeshadows will be pigmented. 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing with us!

Rikki Avatar

I cannot with Urban Decay anymore. I can’t believe people are still eating this up. There’s nothing “new” about this palette. It’s the same old colours. Same old finishes (well, okay, there’s really not that many to choose from, but go along with mere). Just with difference names and they’re putting a high price tag on it.

S Avatar

I just can’t get over how much of a steal these things are…if you divide up the number of eyeshadows by the price…it’s amazing! And they’re so pigmented that they last forever…can you believe that I’ve still got plenty of my “Get Baked” palette left from FOREVER ago!?

Ligia Avatar

hi,
I’m from Brazil, but I read your blog daily and love it! Congratulations for the excellent work.
Would you like a your opnion, I don’t have any UD palette and I want to buy one, that you recommend?
Thank you

Ligia

they are supposed to be new shades, but in the palette, they look utterly similar to other shades. I think i’ll wait for swatches and reviews…

LK Avatar

I got it today!! Got to love Macy’s 😛
I am in love with this palette!! It’s gorgeous.. I also picked up the smoked as well, that’s beautiful too!

marie Avatar

Can not wait for your review Christine.A lot of colors look really similar of what we all got in previous palette but make up addict like will probably buy it.Do you know when is the release date in the UK?
