From the size, it is not really a deal. This palette offers 20% of the net weight of a full size palette for half its price. No. Just no. Better to buy a single to try the brand.

Am I the only one sick of seeing the same shades again, and again, and again in UD palettes? Is there a single one of us who doesn’t have Midnight Cowboy or ABC Gum or damn Half Baked??? The price point is low, but this has one too many shades I have if not in one palette, in multiple palettes.

While you, and many others here (myself included), have all/most of the shades in the palette, there are many others out there who don’t. There are new people venturing into makeup every day, and between the color selection & pricepoint, this makes for an excellent introduction. My daughter is 10 1/2, and is seriously getting into makeup (she’s been playing around with it for a few years), so I’m giving serious consideration to getting this for her birthday. Also, considering many of the shades are from past LE offerings, some of us may be running out of those, and want to replace them.

I definitely see your point about the pricing and selection being good for those starting their makeup collection… however, I would agree more with those wanting to replace colors from other LE palettes if most of these colors weren’t in their regular permanent collection and available all the time. It would be nice if they rotated through their permanent collection a little more in these LE palettes, but the same handful show up again and again. Only 4 out of 12 shadows are LE, which is kind of disappointing for most UD fans.

I have owned a few of these shades years ago but I don’t have them anymore, and my only palette of theirs now is Naked. I’ll probably be picking this up as long as money isn’t too tight.
If I had been buying all the palettes I’ve wanted from them over the past 5 years I’d have multiples of some of these already and would skip it.

The lipstick collections are pretty repetitive, too. It seems like the Full Frontal Stash, the Vice lipstick palette and the Blackmail lipstick palette all had overlapping shades! It’s like, c’mon UD! You have over 100 shades of lipstick in the line. You don’t have to put 1993 in every collection!

Yup, I also have multiple pans of Half Baked but at least it’s a good’un. MCRA, on the other hand – I have 2 or 3 of that one and it’s unusable! MAC has Carbon, Stila has Kitten (3 pans of that one too!) and UD has MCRA and Half Baked (I mean, if they’re big on “baked”, they could just put in Baked or Twice Baked….)

Mariella Avatar

…and I don’t think I have even ONE Twice Baked while I have several Half Baked. So why not, for a change, go out on a limb, UD, and put Twice Baked into a palette??? It is a lovely shadow but I hate the UD singles packaging (I think I’ve only got 4 or 5 of them for that reason).

Linda Avatar

Nice combo. I don’t need, won’t get, but this could be super useful for those who do need it assuming the quality is there. Here’s hoping.

I want it because I love eye shadow palettes and I love UD, but the previous Shadow Box wasn’t very good. If I can keep myself from automatically purchasing it once it’s available, it may be worthwhile to wait for your review or at the very last swatches in a sneak peek.

For most who are already well into makeup this is redundant on many shades; I’ve only lately come to this party, and I even have three of the shades. But for beginners or those new to UD, this has some good core offers. Pity it didn’t come out before the holidays.

xamyx Avatar

This would have been awesome as a Holiday gift, especially for someone new to makeup/Urban Decay! I’m considering getting one for my daughter as a birthday gift.

Stephanie Avatar

No, no, and more no. All together now:
? What I’m not gonna buy-y!?

Aside from Fireball, which I’d be more than happy to buy as a single, I have dupes or the exact same UD shadows in other palettes. I have at least 4 Blackouts in different palettes. Heck, I love Lounge but already have two different dupes (that duochrome on the bottom right in WnW Comfort Zone, and that one Buxom shadow I can’t remember the name of). Also, not only UD but everyone else needs to stop putting so many light shades in a single palette! It’s getting ridiculous.

Stephanie Avatar

Yeah, if the quality is anywhere near as bad as the previous Shadow Box, that’s all the more reason why I don’t need it. I’ve already got enough palettes that are going to need a white or black base to get them to work…One more might push me over the edge.

Jenna Avatar

This would be a good beginner palette for UD, I think. The price point is low, and it’s a good collection of colors for a variety of looks. But as many others have noted, it has far too many shades that most of their die hard fans already own.

Cil Avatar

The price point is low… for even a lower amount of product. You have to really really really want UD to pay half the price of a full palette to have 1/5 of its content.

Genevieve Avatar

There are lots of pros and cons about this palette: the pros are if you don’t own any UD, this is a great one because has a mixture of neutrals and coloured shades that have received pretty good ratings in the past. The con is that it is all repeats…….
I guess this is the palette to put together when you can’t be bothered doing a new one…….

Cil Avatar

Loved the idea. Just wished UD did something similar with mostly mattes and/or office friendly. Like Diurnal… ehehehehehe. I don’t go out much, so most of these eyeshadows wouldn’t be used. I guess i’ll stick with the singles.
