Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette, $55.00 (Limited Edition)
Our Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette is shadow mayhem in a crushed metal case. We packed this limited-edition palette with 20 of our most amped-up metallic shadows yet—and every single one is NEW and exclusive. Inject your look with a hit of glamrock for daytime or go full-on metal for a night out. From standout jewel tones like Amp (a killer metallic teal) and Twisted (glimmering gold) to ultra-flattering neutrals like Demo (bronze-rose) and Afterparty (an amazing metallic red), this palette has everything you need to create endless metallic looks. And it’s all organized by color: brights on the left, neutrals on the right.
We developed a whole new Eyeshadow formula for this palette. We bumped up the foiled effect to create our most metallic shadows ever. In doing so, we carefully crafted the formula on every shade to make sure each one would apply with a soft and creamy texture and create intense, shiny metallic effects. Every shade has a velvety feel for the perfect application, provides insane color payout and blends like a dream. The killer lavender case has a crushed metal effect on one end…kind of like we smashed it while rocking out. It’s so gorgeous…like a modern art sculpture you’ll want to show off. Just imagine the gasps of, “WHAT’S THAT?!” when your friends see this baby. The palette slides open to dramatically reveal the shadow tray. When you’re ready to work your makeup magic, just pull the palette out and use Heavy Metals like a painter’s palette. Of course, we included a big mirror, so not only is this palette glamrock hot, it’s totally practical too.

Urban Decay Heavy Metals Collection for Holiday 2017
I’ve been holding out to see what UD came up with this holiday season – I wonder if this is instead of the annual Vice palettes.
No cringey names – that’s a step forward!
OMG I’m in love. I wonder if this is why their Moondust palette was part of the Weekly Wow for Sephora. I use glittery shadows almost exclusively (as eyeliner; I don’t wear eyeshadow as eyeshadow), so this is totally my ideal palette. I wish the design was more compact, but I appreciate their trying for a different visual aesthetic, at least.
Ohhh that’s REALLY pretty! Also an odd/ impracitical shape, but pretty! I wish they would have released the 2 halves as separate sister palettes though, because I would be first in line for those neutral metals on the right! Not so much for the brights on the left.
On the flip side, I was thinking the same thing, but that I wanted the brights since most of the neutrals are too warm! I agree though that the shape is super impractical!
Too bad we can’t split it- you could even have the mirror! ?
You never know, depending on what the palette is made from, you might be able to cut it in half, haha 😛
me, too. I’m not a bright eye shadow girl.
See those last 2 titles, Acoustic and Scream? Well I just let out a fairly raucous “SQUEEE!!!!” at the top of my lungs when I saw this posted on Facebook, and am now hoping I have *low* acoustics in this place! LOL!
Immediately thought how gorgeous all those jewel tones and metallic semi-neutral look! Hopefully, they perform just as beautiful as they look in the pan!
I am excited about these eyeshadows but the packaging seems a little odd. I wonder if it is a really big palette or if the shadows are tiny. We’ll see! Looking forward to your review.
Oh, I hope these are good. I am always up for some glittery/shimmer shadows. I always like the shiny new object in the room, regardless of whether I have a ton of them already or not. Can’t wait to see reviews and maybe YT tutorials.
Glitter is my middle name. I love good glitter eyeshadow.
Only negative is the size is 03 oz. Full size of UD is .05 oz.
same price as their anniversary shadows but smaller in size.
This feels like an old school Urban Decay release!Just feels really authentic to their brand to me.Im a sucker for their Moondust eyeshadows so I hope this is a solid formula.Metallic shades are my favorite eyeshadows.Im excited for this one.
So with you on the “old school”. It’s a nice change from the endless variations on Naked!
I thought the same Dominique. It really does make me think of old school UD. Which is a plus in my book! This is the most exciting holiday product I’ve seen yet this year.
I. cant. wait. Maybe I wont get the metal palette from Nyx now.
I’m digging the color selection but I’m not really into the bulky packaging! Wish these brands would have more sympathy for those of us who don’t have a dedicated vanity space 😛
I saw KvD teasing a Metal Crush palette so I am going to be very curious to see which palette looks better. I’ll only buy one, if I buy any at all. I really love metallic eye shadows but I am drowning in palettes!
I think the KVD Metal Crush palette is a highlighting palette. That’s what I’ve read at least.
From what I’ve read, the KvD palette is actually a highlighter palette. Also, given past releases, KvD tends to drag out the “sneak peeks” for months, so I wouldn’t doubt if it’ll be released in Spring…
I think the kvd metal palette is highlighter ?
So get both lol. I think I may.
That KvD Metal Crush palette contains only highlighters. Therefore, you need both! 😀
Oh my gosh -I forgot about the KvD tease already. We are moving way too fast with all these releases!
I’m with you, one is all I’ll need. Whichever one is priced better & has more colors I know I’ll use.
KVD is a metal crush highlighter palette. 🙁
I mean I like highlighters but I was super excited for a metal crush shadow palette.
The Metal Crush is apparently highlighter (yaassss) if it helps.
If you look at the second pic that Kat Von D Beauty released on instagram it says that it is a highlighter palette below the name of the palette. I know so many love the metal crush eyeshadow formula so releasing a palette called that and not having it be eyeshadows is a bit disappointing for eyeshadow lovers. Just wanted to let you know this.
Kvd’s new palette is higlighter, not eyeshadow! This could be either good news or bad news, depending on your makeup budget! Lol
I’ve read that the KVD Metal Crush palette she’s teasing us with is highlighters, not eyeshadows. I could be wrong.
Thanks everyone for cluing me in! I’m pretty in love with my Makeup Geek highlighters so I can’t see myself buying a Metal Crush highlighter palette (now if she did a single of a highlighter inspired by the Thunderstruck shadow, I’d consider it). Guess I might buy this palette if the price and quality are right 🙂
Omg love love must have. Any word when it’s being released and where?
I think it’s being released online on the 15th at Ulta and Sephora. In stores the 29th. You can get it now on Urban Decay’s website.
While I am interested in this one, I don’t think I’d be too disappointed if I missed it… I definitely want to see it in-person before making a final decision.
This looks so nice! I hope it performs well ??
Purdy! Wish I needed it (or knew someone who would want it) — I’d love to have a reason to reward UD for this effort.
I’m going to be curious to see how this compares to the Afterdark palette.
ARGH! I am torn between Tarte, Hudabeauty and now this gorgeous palette!!!! Which one would be most suited to green eyes? They are all so gorgeous!
This is very pretty. Great combination of neutrals and brights. Wonder what that odd space in the center of the palette is, a mirror?
Now we know why the shadow tray slides out so no lid mirror. But the formula has to wow me before buying it with the excess packaging.
Kind of burned last year with the full spectrum palette.
Yes, please! I love foil eyeshadows and Urban Decay. Hopefully these will be as good as KVD’s Metal Crush shadows. The 80s glam rock theme is funny!
I’m so screwed for this holiday season as KVD is lauching a crushed metals palette and I’m just like ARGH and then this?????
I’m excited for this one! I love that it’s all metallic, and the colors look beautiful. I think the packaging is really pretty, I’m not sure how practical it will be.
WOW!!!!! There are a few shades that look very similar but still – 20 amazing shadows! I can’t wait to see more about this.
I am confused, is that a mirror in the middle?
The packaging looks pretty bulky and a pain to store, we’ll see though.
I’m really liking the color selection here – this is what I was looking to see this holiday!
And yay UD didn’t put out another Naked palette haha
These shades look really gorgeous, but shimmers don’t often work on my eyes, so for me it’s a pass.
The packaging seems inconvenient in shape and layout, but it sure is beautiful to look at! Form vs. function…form wins!
Is that the mirror in the middle? A compartment, maybe, with a lift up mirror? We’ll see.
I was thinking that as well or a mixing plate like my Yaby palette. The mirror is a polished metal for both mixing and a mirror.
Oh my! I hope this comes to the UK!
Looks beautiful. And not really understanding the packaging. Seems poorly designed.
The packaging is weird, but if the formula is like the one in Afterdark or Electric I’d be interested. I’m a sucker for shiny stuff.
I’ve been trying to reduce my holiday-makeup-release-spending this year, so I’m being pickier than normal about what to get and what to pass on, but as soon as I saw this it was at the top of my list. GIVE ME ALL THE METALLICS.
This looks interesting……
I’m intrigued. I love shiny shadow. It doesn’t always love me.
Same! Haha. I have very hooded, deep set eyes so shimmers on the lid tend to get all over the crease and upper eye area. But it doesn’t stop me from fawning over them: “ooooh, pretty!”
i cannot wait UD is my #1 brand. they fit my personality and makeup preferences so well!
Oof I was going to pick up Saint and Sinner but this is much more in my wheelhouse!
Can’t wait for this palette!!
I just checked the Ulta website and it says that it will be online 10/15 and in stores 10/29
I love a good glitter eyeliner.. hope these are interesting. The three pinks at the end are calling me.
Everything is so metallic this season ( ; __ ;). Metallic eyes, lips, eyeliner, even highlighters. I feel like it’s been so overkill I’m even losing my appetite for the Pat McGrath Mothership palettes. This palette is really beautiful though, and I love the purples and neutrals in it. Maybe in the spring mattes will come back and I’ll be interested in makeup again, haha!
This will be interesting – and I am wondering whether it would have made more commercial sense to separate the two palettes….
Agreed!
Ok, I know I commented once, but I just read the updated presser and is UD seriously trying to bill that palette design as “practical”? I think UD and I define that word differently.
Practical?? Wow. Different definition than me, too. I just got the Saint and Sinner palette even tho it’s not “practical” either. Apparently I have a limit bc I’m not tempted by this palette at all. I’ll leave it for others who want it more!
OMG! I am so excited to just have this it as part of a collectors dream! Or should I say obsession LOL if they perform the way they describe this is going to be off the hook!
I am mentally trying to rearrange things to find space to put this palatte. Trying to resist. I’ll wait for the reviews first, maybe? Not sure how I’m going to survive this season.
The eye palette looks great but I’m tired of UD’s over the top (in terms of size/thickness) packaging. Why can’t they do compact and sleek while still keeping some of the UD styling?
This. The packaging distracts from the beautiful shadows imho. And I don’t know why exactly but the rumpled outer case really irks me.
The e/s palette sure looks cumbersome for someone like me, with a small space to store and apply makeup. And as much as I love glitter, I think I learned from the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself palette that too many glittery shades without a few matte or satin ones to balance them isn’t very practical for me.
It feels like UD is really trying hard to sell the packaging for this palette. But it looks to be an impractical shape and design.
Also, I cringed at the “wait till your friends see it”. Really? Such a strange line from this company. UD used to be alternative and rough around the edges. Instead, this weird selling point to brag feels needy and childish.
The palette is nice, if it swatches well I may have to grab this one.
Wow! Super excited to see swatches of that palette and those glitter liners!
Even that lip palette is calling my name… I’m going to have lots of decisions to make this holiday season. Fingers crossed that it’s all amazing!
I kind of wish I could just get the more neutral side of the eyeshadow palette. I think ALL the colors are pretty, but for me and what I like to wear on my eyes, the entire eyeshadow palette would be wasted on me.
I don’t understand why people are fed up of the naked palettes. They are lovely, practical and there is something for everyone? Oh how we beauty lovers turn , ha ha
The palette looks gorgeous – but I am wondering that if you have the Spectrum palette, of lots of shimmers, then maybe you would have a lot of these shades too.
The palette shape is certainly interesting…it would be a challenge to store.
I wish I could just get the half with the natural eye shadow colors. I’m not a bright color eye shadow girl.
I have too many metals from them, but oh it does look so so nice! swatched well too, boo hoo!
The palette is an easy pass for me… I don’t see any shades in there that are particularly unique! I have a couple Vice palettes from past years that pretty much cover this range. Also not a fan of the odd packaging. I’m excited to see swatches of those new Heavy Metal liners, though!
