Urban Decay did put together a list of potential shades you could use in lieu of discontinued shades as part of their new launch. Some are close, some aren’t so close.

Urban Decay Ruthless is the only eye shadow that I’ve ever hit pan on. I think I’ll have to buy another one. I use it almost every day, le sigh.
Same! I’m freaking out. So much for that MSF I was saving up for.
It’s not available on Sephora. I’m guessing I’m going to have to go into a store and hope it’s there. Worst case scenario, I have to find something like it. I have a feeling it’s similar to Burberry’s Pale Barley, but I really don’t want to pay that kinda money.
It’s still available on Urban Decay site, the last time I checked. 🙂
Sometimes you can snag backstock of discontinued UD shadows on HauteLook. They usually do an Urban Decay sale about once every two months (at least lately!) I picked up a ton of the discontinued matte shadows for less than $5 each before they were even on sale on UD’s website last year!
try allcosmeticswholesale.com they have a good bit of discontinued UD stuff, like the “vintage” liquid liners too.
I’d go onto the Urban Decay website ASAP and get them before they’re gone. They still have the Deluxe shadows in stock on there.
I love Jones, Flipside and Blaze. I can’t believe they’re gone. 🙁
A dupe for Blaze is MAC’s All that glitters.
Flipside there is a number of dupe for it in the mineral makeup brands but here are some you can get. Ulta Calypso, Ben Nye Pigment Turquoise, and Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pan – Mermaid (just a touch darker) and the 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette has one in it. I also won’t be surprised if Inglot made something similar as well.
If anyone lives in or around the Los Angeles area, they still have a 99% full display of UD shadows at the new Sephora in the Westfield Culver City Mall. I was literally just there in the last hour and saw many of the shades up for discontinuation. No Deluxe Shadows, though…

OH MY GOD I feel so relieved they are NOT discontinuing Sin. I would have to buy like 10 backups.

I loved Ecstacy, that’s one of my top used shadow for my BOS2. I need to get a back up ASAP. Thank god my Sephora now have UD product
Wow. I guess I’ll have to buy a couple of deluxe palettes, because I use a lot of Shag, Underground, Ransom, Honey, and Zero. I wonder what prompted them to discontinue so many seemingly-popular shades?
Every single one of those are on my list to get soon >:( I’m gonna have to raid my local Sephora before they’re gone

A couple small errors: Asphyxia doesn’t appear to have been discontinued, it’s in the lineup of new shades. Also, the now-discontinued Deluxe shadow was called Freakshow, not Freakdown.
I’m sad they’re discontinuing Honey, I love that color! I doubt I’m ever going to use it all up, though – maybe if I ever do there will be a similar color on the market 🙂

Also, I gotta say I’m kind of happy they’re discontinuing Ecstacy – I love the color, but the spelling error has always made me CRAZY! 😛

They spell it Ecstasy… Isn’t that the correct spelling, lol?
I thought so too. That’s how it’s spelled in the dictionary. Unless they meant XTC pills which is spelled Extacy 😛
I thought when referred to the drug it was spelled Extasy, well frack, IDK! BUT, they do have one called “X,” which does refer to the drug, so I think it’s right at Ecstasy…as in reference to sex…or as in, “I was in so much Ecstasy after I bought all this new UD stuff.” LOL. Whatevaaa, now I’m just getting silly.
Urban Decay spells it “Ecstacy” – I think that’s what she was referring to 🙂
I got that, but that’s not how it’s listed on Sephora or on the back of the UD pot I picked up there.
And it’s even spelled the way I put on their site, too. That’s why I’m confused as to how it has the wrong spelling, lol.

Dupes for some of the unusual shades.
Lounge: Wet n Wild Confort Zone, Naked Cosmetic Harvest Moon stack HM-06, Inglot AMC Pigment 85.
Jones: UD’s X is the better shadow of the two really Jones just a tad more orange in it but Jones was also stiffer.
Goddess: so many dupes for this one from Eve Pearl, Inhlot, Wet n Wild and Make Up For Ever.
Most of these are dupable simple shades or have better version of them in the new once created for the UD palettes.
Oh my, those deluxe shadows are my favorite! Guess I have to buy some!
I have to be honest, I’m pretty annoyed they are cutting Lounge. I’m hoping they’ll do a fire sale, or put the “vintage” ones up on HauteLook, to get rid of their stock. That way I can at least get some back ups of the cut colors. I’m sure I’m not the only one with that in the back of my mind though 🙂
I am really glad about some of the colors they’re adding like Bordello, Snatch and Loaded. I loved those in my palettes but I wouldn’t use them because I was afraid to run out!
Christine, I wanted so badly to buy your UD pallette right now. It certainly was beautiful. But when my shopping cart reflected $126, I had to walk away. I would have really hoped it would have been in the $50 range. A typical 6 pan pallette runs for $36, plus the cost of the reusable pallette. I don’t know. Quite lovely, but that price point is way to steep for me. Nice job though!

They’re all permanent shades, and you could always buy them as you go or wait for them in palettes. I agree–the price is very steep to throw down all at once. I definitely mentioned to them that there ought to be a discount for buying a whole palette!

Christine, if i buy backups for Strip, Graffiti, and get Dashiki and put them in the freezer, would they actually stay nice? i can’t imagine not having those colors but i don’t want to spend money and have them go bad!

I don’t think you need to put them in the freezer! Powder products should last fine for years.

i bought the showpony palette on sale and mildew was dried out and i was worried it was too old. maybe it was just a bad batch?

That is so weird – the eyeshadow *shouldn’t* dry out, since it’s powder! I am totally puzzled by that!!
yeah, the texture isn’t as nice compared to my mildew in the ammo palette. it doesn’t work as well with brushes (and i use MAC 239).
but it’s good to know this isn’t normal! backups it is!

This is *terrible* news. Many of my other favourites are going too but Strip has been a go-to for me for almost a decade. I once got told it had been discontinued in the past but there is no way I’ll be able to buy many of the deluxe eyeshadows again. Gutted. 🙁 Hoping there will be a delay in the UK release of this.

NOOOOO! Underground is one of my favorite UD shadows. 🙁 I also really like Ruthless and Purple Haze.
Not disappointed to see Eldorado on that list, though. It is without a doubt the worst eyeshadow I’ve ever tried!
Random! This morning I was trying to find a list of old original UD shadow colors like Smaze and Frostbite. I couldn’t find a list *anywhere*. I’m talking circa 1998…
I remember one of the colors was UB40 (a blue I believe).

Do you know if Gash was discontinued last year then? I remember your review of it but I’ve never actually seen it anywhere, on the site or in Ulta or Sephora.
I think it may have been – that’s the problem with discontinuing things, very few brands let you know!

Are you freaking kidding me?! So basically, the big surprise is that you can say goodbye to most of your favorite shadows. UGH.
I’m kind of sad about Shag. But it makes me wonder if they’ll have a sale on the discontinuted colors. Like they did with the matte colors earlier in the year.
They probably will, and all of the shadows in the old packaging as well. But when those go up on HauteLook, you’ll have to act REALLY fast. They’ll sell out super quick!
I think they should have maybe rounded the shades up to 75 as some of their dupe suggestions look totally off and wrong. I only tend to buy their pre-made palettes but from the look of the dupe list and new shadows I think they should have kept Graffiti, Urb, Lounge, El Dorado and Honey (plus a few more of the ones people here like) to round the colours out a bit more.
I wonder if it is because they couldn’t get these colours to work with the new formula? I am glad that they are repackaged though. UD cheap plastic always put me off buying singles!
So sad. I can remember most of these colors on top of my head. Goddess was gorgeous but didn’t work with me and I have Uzi but don’t like it as much.
It appears Dashiki is also discontinued.

urbandecay.com has a section where they provide dupes for a couple of the shades they are discontinuing with the new shades. i hope that helps : )
I was going to freak out if they were discontinuing Last Call, but nope! My favorite cranberry/pink lives on.

I’m SO annoyed. I love Purple Haze, Uzi, Cherry, and Hot Pants. And Ransom is SUPER high on my wishlist, along with Frigid, Ruthless, and Lounge. 🙁
At the very least, the new palette thing looks cool. Loved yours, Christine! (You always have excellent taste, what else is new? ;P) I like the look of AC/DC, Pistol, Verve, Darkhouse, and Busted. Hope we get swatches soon! <3
What about Sellout? I don’t see it in this list or the list of new eyeshadows on the UD website.

Oh no, Strip got the axe. D: Oh well, at least I have a nearly untouched pan of it at home. It’ll last me years at the rate I get to wear it. I’m sure something similar will be released by then.
Sin has been out of stock at my local counter for months, I was getting worried it was going to the big makeup bag in the sky! I’m so relieved, I would have bought a second naked pallete to replace my single if I had to!

I hated uzi. 99% glitter, 1% chalky white eyeshadow.
I don’t own Honey or Eldorado but Half Baked, which thankfully they didn’t discontinue, makes a great gold on the eye, even though they don’t call it a “gold” but “bronze” colour.
This is the worst thing a beauty company could do: Getting rid of the shades that people like and racked in the money for their business. Soo stupid…o well its a good think that i never shopped for UD shadows otherwise i would be disappointed myself.
Mary Jane is going??!?!?! nooooooooo. It made the perfect smokey eye. I litereally got compliments every single time I wore it. I even helped Sephora make a sale cuz another shopper had liked it so much! If you don’t know, I suggest you go buy it before it’s gone ladies!

As usual, all the colors that I own are being discontinued. That is the main reason I buy from UD because of the glitter….large or small glitter I like them both…Uzi, Kiddie Pool, Minx, Grind(long gone)…then there is Strip, Underground, Honey….and I own the majority of the new added shades from the palettes so there is no reason to buy….
They are discontinuing a lot of their unique and favorite colors :'[

Uzi was the first UD shadow I bought after using up all of my boyfriends at the time. (We were glitter ravers in high school, what can I say)
I’ve hit pan with Honey and Ransom… Good thing I recently ordered the Deluxe Palette – I’ll have to use them stingily.
I’ve been wanting to try Hotpants, Lounge, Mary Jane, Graffiti, and Peace. Guess it’s time to splurge!
wow I am so sad about Mary Jane. It pairs so well with dark blue since it has that slight blue undertone to it. I make a rocking smoky eye with it. BOO UD.
For those of you that didn’t already know it, UD is having a sale right now on the Vintage shadows….They are marked down to $9 (if you have the UD Pro discount you get another 40% off!). I ordered 10 shadows…some of which I had been considering and others I just picked up because I would be getting them at an excellent price so if I didn’t like them I wouldn’t be too disappointed. At the time I ordered I didn’t realize the colors were discontinued (or slightly different than the ones in the new formulation w/same name) so I may have to go back and order a few more…especially any that I absolutely love and the dupes aren’t on par. Hmmmm…maybe I should have waited to write this post until AFTER I placed another order lol.
