i thought “butterflies, boo!” cuz i have lepidopterophobia (fear of moths and butterflies). yes. i know, they’re fluttery and harmless. that’s why it’s a phobia.. it’s irrational.

queenfrostine Avatar

That’s a good deal supposing you’ll actually use most or all of what comes with the set. I’ve bought volumes 1 & 2 and found I probably only used a third of them. $4 a shadow sounds nice in the abstract, but I’ve found I often get better value out of buying products I’m likely to use a la cart rather than getting suckered into buying a set because I got seduced into “look at all you get for $X!!” These palettes are filled with too many shadows that are close matches for stuff (or just are stuff I already own) I already own to shop any other way.

Elysia Avatar

true! I only bought the 3rd pallet cuz most of the colors were different from ones that i already owned. UD is great, but i’ll have to pass on this one

Zadidoll Avatar

I justified it this way.

The full size liner alone retails for $18. The travel size primer retails for $9 while the full size retails for $18 (“vintage” bottle, the tubes are $19). I don’t think they retail the travel size mascara but the full size one is like $20 so the retail of mini would probably be $10.

So if you discount the cost for all the eyeliner, mascara and primer ($37) the shadows are only $27 for 16 shadows of which 10 are new and 1 is one that was discontinued a while back.

Yes, I’m trying to justify the price in my head as an excuse to order it. lol

Xtina Avatar

I thought that the UD 15th anniversary palette showed that they were making progressing and understood how annoying their BOS’s are because the anniversary palette features eyeshadows housed in a slim compartment that’s easily removable. I’m so sick of depotting UD stuff, and having eyeshadows in a bulky box isn’t practical. I wish they’d cut the bs with their BOS.

Alicia Avatar

I’m with you. I saw this post was up and thought, “Oh, UD has been doing so well on packaging lately; surely this won’t be as hideous as BOS III.” It actually may be even more awful. I…don’t want to plug in my eyeshadow. I’m dedicated to this brand and love the product, so I’ll buy this anyway, but I’m really turned off by how gimmicky this is, especially when they’ve proven how classy they can be.

On another note, I’m thrilled for a shadow called Lost, even if it has nothing to do with the TV show.

Kelly Avatar

totally agree. UD has disgusting packaging, & I can’t help but feel totally unprofessional when I whip out a palette to use a shoot or a wedding. Rarely buy anything from then, because they rarely have classy-looking, not over the top, digusting, cheap-looking packaging.

Ani_BEE Avatar

I shipped that palette as well. I like what this BOS has to offer this year as a well rounded kit. ^_^ I will also appreciate the mini speaker.

Yazmin Avatar

when i saw this in my bloglist, i was like oh no not another urban decay pallette, they all look the same. but omg. makeup mixed with a bit of technology. im soldd

Lizzie Avatar

off topic a bit here but i didn’t know where else to ask. christine will you be reviewing the Laura Mercier Classic Smoky Eye Palette?
Oh and as much as I love the butterfly packaging on this one…I would have to pass…even though there are 10 new colors they don’t really look that much different than all the other UD palettes that I have.

Aleeya Avatar

Omg! This sounds incredible. It is so worth it. I’m actually excited about it. This is going to be my b-day gift from my bro, I told him already lol.

Kimberly Avatar

Don’t get me wrong I LOVE URBAN DECAY…but this almost seems too gimicky. The colors are beautiful and yes its a great deal but I have two BOS, Ammo palette, & naked palette… they need to give us something a little different besides something to hook my phone up to. What am I saying? I will probably buy this too. lol

Nicole Avatar

Pop up butterflies? I know Urban Decay is appealing to a rather specific age-group/mindset with these outrageous colorful whimsical designs. But even knowing the fantastic quality of their eyeshadow, the packaging turns me off 100%. Pass. :/

divinem (Melissa) Avatar

Colors are so blah. Plus I hate UD’s fallout issues. Not worth it when I have more than enough eyeshadow to last two lifetimes. I’ve never been happy with a single BOS. Have returned them all. Not getting sucked in and esp. at that price. Sometimes a bargain isn’t always a bargain.

My $65 Chanel Byzantine quad is worth more to me than this ever would be.

Ellie Avatar

I’m glad I didn’t see this before the 15th anniversary palette. I’d have gotten this in a snap, but I really do prefer the colours of the 15th anniversary. I *love* all the extras with this palette though, especially the liquid liner. Blue Bus looks like it could be the exact blue colour I’ve been looking for.

Devi Avatar

Why do I always see the word “Midnight” in these Urban Decay palettes? o_o

Either way, I’d skip this any day. :\ I really feel like they overdo the packaging for their BoS, and the technology aspect is a real turn off for me. 😛 I’d rather pay for a single UD shadow.

tg Avatar

Seriously, why not have an Afternoon Rodeo or something? I swear they should just rename all of their Midnight shades to Midnight Rodeo Rides Again and Again and Again and Again and, well, you get the hint. At least MAC doesn’t include the same color in every single LE line they release.

boogiepimp Avatar

OMG, yes SOOOO agreed on that new name! Ha! How many BAKED, HALF-BAKED and MIDNIGHT WHATEVERS do we need in EVERY palette they make. Gah!

Mariella Avatar

“Midnight” and “Cowboy” both make me nervous (and how I wish they could FIX Midnight Cowboy Rides Again to deal with the “glitter dandruff”), but the 2 in the 15th Anniversary Palette are -thankfully – okay!

lizzym Avatar

I’m pretty glad i waited, i want this but the butterflies are a bit of a turn off, the colors are a bit blah though id have to agree. I’m going to wait and see what the swatches look like.

SJean Avatar

The only one I’m super jazzed about is “Bender”. The experience card thingy strikes me as really gimmicky, but with the potential to be really cool for about 30 minutes. ALL THOSE NEUTRALS! GAH! I’M ALREADY “NAKED”, GIVE ME SOME DANG COLOR!

Jilliterate Avatar

EXACTLY what I was thinking. I already have the Naked palette to cover my neutrals. I was hoping for something more like the Ammo palette, with some bold colour. :/

jennifer Avatar

Yeah, but for people who DON’T have the Naked palette, the neutral and bold mix is perfect. So I feel like they did a good job creating a balanced palette. It appeals to a wider audience and gives the palette flexibility.

Dawn Avatar

I agree, a really nice mix of neutrals. As well as smokeys- green, violet, teal, grey. A moss, black and silver and a pop of a marine blue! Unless you already have all these colors, they are not boring at all. The eyeliner looks awesome, along with a nice travel mascara and primer. Almost everything is here with the exception of pink and matt shadows. I thinks this is an awesome palette!!!

Julie Avatar

Even though I just got the Anniversary Palette, this one will be going into my collection as well! 🙂

Do you know when it will be released to everyone, Christine?

leesie Avatar

Hijack looks lovely–otherwise I’m sort of “meh” on the colors. I’ll probably get it anyway (but wait ’til it hits Sephora’s site) just because I have Volume 3 and the AIW BOS. And it DOES come with a full-size liquid liner!
(This thing has to be HUGE.)

Holta78 Avatar

I hope the shadows are nice – gotta wait for swatches. But I don’t care for that hi-tech gimmick (similar in concept to the Stila makeup player).

Christa Avatar

It reminded me of the Stila makeup player as well. And yes, I had the same thought about it being rather gimmick-y. The shadows look promising, and I’m glad UD is including some new ones in the mix, but I think the company should focus on continuing to make high-quality mu products rather than trying (too hard IMO) to be “trendy” in its marketing schemes. Also, the price raise from ~$50 to $64 (for what I imagine is due to the new tech stuff) doesn’t quite seem justifiable.

L Avatar

The colors in the anniversary palette look more interesting…
Also, I gave up on it when I saw “laser light show” in the description. LOL.

Jill Avatar

I’m wondering how many shades are mattes. I have a gazillion UD glittery/shimmers. The palettes always seem to lack some balance with mattes.

laura Avatar

LOVE THIS!!! Wow, UD really knows how to suck me in allright!! It looks like the whitish shadow on the bottom row is a winner… so far Urban Decay does not have any shimmery white shadows without glitter.

Lisa Avatar

Meh, I’ll pass this one. The colors look pretty blah, and especially with competitors like Inglot out now, I think this is pretty easy to skip.

Sari Avatar

I always like Urban Decay packaging and the product in here looks good , but the whole iPod speaker thing is just so horribly gimmicky & tacky =/

Tigress Avatar

Not to mention incredibly useless for those that don’t have a flippin iPhone, like moi. The packaging is a major fail, but the products are worth it.

xmissxandristx Avatar

i know the card works with all smartphones, and the speaker is just a standard headphone jack. so it’ll work with a lot more than just iphones.

alexandra Avatar

Won’t be buying this. Three of the shadows I already have from the NAKED palette and the others are easily duped. I like the 15th anniversary one better, although some of those were dupable too. 😉

Juddde Avatar

Everyone complained that the BOS 3 not have enough neutral color or highlight. I feel they really listened to the buyers this time. Yes, the colors seem less impressive than other BOS, but the extras make up for the lack of originality of the colors. Must have!

Jessica K Avatar

Gonna have to buy this, and I just laid out $55 for the 15 year palette, I think my husband may laugh his tuches off when he hears…When does it launch for the rest of us? I know that NYC is super special and all but I’m getting a bit annoyed. I want it too and my $65 bucks spends just as well as anyone from NYC’s does. Ah well…Such is the price I pay for not dealing with the sweltering East coast temps!

stacey Avatar

Unless this collection looks better in person, it just looks like Bobbie Brown or a MAC version…and not the UD signature colors. UD could also could had eliminated the USB accessories. I dont look like those UD models…why would I want their 5 different looks. I rather they attach an UD T-shirt instead like the one they will give out in NYC. Thank goodness I bought the anniversary palette.

MAChostage Avatar

TOTALLY disappointed that there are some of the same old shadows in here. I kind of figured that when the 15th Anniversary palette came out with all new shades that we wouldn’t be so lucky with the BOS IV. 🙁

Dayna Avatar

The whole BOS idea doesnt excite me in anyway; if it meant lowering the price, i wish they wouldnt have it in the palette. Either way im kinda excited for it 🙂

Nancy Avatar

I’m glad my daughter doesn’t like this one as much as the 15th anniversary palette I already bought her, but this has nice colors too. I am looking forward to seeing the swatches.

Jill Avatar

Bah! I own the non-exclusive shades already AND i just purchased the Stila player from their Last Call section. I love UD like none other – I own bos ii and iii, Alice palette, Preen, Summer of Love, Naked, and a bunch of single shadows -but I’m surprisingly conservative and on-the-fence with this one….looks like I’ll have to await some swatches.

Maria Avatar

When I first looked at this I was OMG! I need this but then thought about it for a few minutes and realized I have all the other BOS from UD and I never use them so why spend $64 on something that’s just going to sit on my desk with my other palletes. I always rush to buy them when they come out and I use them for about a week and then they just sit.

Kristal Avatar

OMG Urban Decay is like crack for me. I just got the 15 Palette and now this!?!??! Very cool additions to this palette but the colors aren’t as fun and bold as they usually are…. I do like that it comes with mascara and the new liquid liner though! Looks like a box of FUN!

Kate & Zena Avatar

It’s sad this is A) only available in NYC, B) limited edition and C) includes a laser light show in the unit. Urban Decay has been coming out with some magnificent colors and palettes lately and this is no exception. The colors look gorgeous, especially Bender, Gravity, Hijack and Crystal. Even if I were to be in NYC and able to purchase this, I wouldn’t be able to; I’d be putting myself medically at risk. I know cosmetic brands are always trying to innovate and integrate technology with their brand, but sometimes I think they fail to see that part of their demographic (a rather large portion) suffer from disorders where technology like LEDs and lasers and the disorder don’t mix. Women are 50% more prone to migraine headaches and lasers and LEDs are triggers for migraine headaches in many women. Yes, we can avoid these products, but a product like this makes me feel left out. I’m not only a woman who suffers from migraine headaches, I also have Epilepsy. I can’t attend laser shows (or do laser tag) because of the connection between lasers and seizures.

Sorry for the tiny rant, but I sometimes feel so left out on things like this. It is so pretty!

dayna Avatar

chrstine, do u know if people actually lined up for the sneek peak? or camped out? just curious im hoping to get it the day of the sneek peak?

Kate & Zena Avatar

Oh, okay. I still couldn’t purchase it though due to the laser light show included in the box. It puts me at medical risk. I have Epilepsy and a migraine disorder. Migraines are bad enough; seizures are worse. So, you see, I still feel really left out. It’s such a pretty set, but I’m unable to get it. I mean, I could, but I set myself up for an ER visit and possibly an EEG, EKG and a follow up to my doctor and neurologist. I wish they made an un-laser show version!

theRothstanator Avatar

I am psyched that they are making another even after the 15th Anniversary palette. However, $64? They could skip all of the tricks and weird gadgets and keep the price point lower. I liked the first volume the best, and it was also the one that was most sleek. I am going to have spend over $200 on their stuff alone due to all the sets they put out for their anniversary. And I still haven’t even gotten a Naked palette.

Sass Avatar

i camped out for vol. 3 so I shall for vol. 4. I will roll into line at 7:30. I am a BOS collector so this is right up my alley. i will have my chair, my book (I have exams to study for), my tunes and hubby will be around to bring me snacks…no drinks so I won’t have to go to potty. i met a lot of cool people in line last time so I’m hoping this time I will too. 🙂

Mariella Avatar

I want to love this but if it’s only going to be available in that one location (am I understanding this correctly?), then I will have no choice but to leave it. If it’s going to be released at all Sephora locations “at some point in time”, then I will be there frantically grabbing it!

Jessica K Avatar

It should be released everywhere, at least that’s what the author posted up top…I can’t imagine that UD would dare not release it everywhere 🙂

Mel Avatar

While I’m sure some view this as an amazing idea but I personally don’t want a bunch of bells and whistles with my makeup. I just want 8-12 shadows in a box or slim palette with a mini of UDPP or a liner that’s it. But if this box contained Midnight Cowboy Rides Again I might’ve given it a bit more thought but I’ll pass.

Mariella Avatar

I agree with you on this. And the reality is that we pay MORE because of all this gimmicky packaging. I felt the same about BOSIII and Too Faced’s Enchanted Glamourland palette. All this packaging makes the actual PRODUCT (which is what I am buying) more difficult and annoying to use. But chances are I will cave and buy this if the colours are good.

Quinctia Avatar

On one hand, why on earth do makeup companies keep thinking I want to plug in ANYTHING to their palettes or train boxes?

On the other hand, NO ZERO PENCIL! I’m stunned.

There are enough neutrals in this set that I’m actually feeling iffy about it. I really need to get a Z-palette or something and start depotting my UD palettes as it is, and this is such a big honking thing. Given the price point, I bet the little tech things in it are pretty junky, too. :/

Atanza Avatar

I’m glad I got the anniversary palette over this. I love Urban Decay, and I love my BOS III, but this is a definite pass for me. The USB cord and speaker are pretty stupid. The colors don’t look that exciting, especially since I already have four other UD palettes. UD, I love you, but no thank you!!

Linda Avatar

too much of everything . i dont need usb in my eyeshadow palette . too expensive .
and the fact they makes people panic on purpose ( ow, its limited and will be for purchase only in one store , one day ) turns me OFF this brand big time .

dont like that kinda games . they should come to costumers, not making costumers to run after them . they should stop that limited s**t and start caring about their clients

Linda Avatar

they could add a sinker there and rise the price till 100 $
im so dissapointed :/ massive turn off . every hype of these limited palettes is one step closer for me to hate UD . and i loved them at beginning! 🙁 now they annoys me

Via Avatar

I’m not a regular customer of UD, and I never spend more than $40 on ANY one makeup item, but this is fantastic! They’re really taking advantage of technology in such a cool way, huge thumbs up. I can see myself buying this, easy! It’ll be a great into to UD eye shadow 😀

Kacey Avatar

Wow, I LOVE the packaging (butterflies!!) but the colors don’t appeal to me nearly as much as those in the 15 Year Anniversary palette. I think I’ll stick to buying that one 🙂

MichelleChefNYC Avatar

It is SO nice to see them up the game a bit with some new products and the cool idea of having some makeup lessons that tie in with your smartphone and the palette (although Stila already did this)… The palette is gorgeous, but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of seeing Baked and Sin and Midnight Cowgirl… I mean, how hard is it to come up with some new and original shadows, other brands do it all the time….

Antonia Avatar

I NEED it I WANT it I HAVE to HAVE it lol I don’t care if it’s mostly neutrals I’m a UD junkie and I have it have everything lol especially if it’s limited edition!! I like like 2 hours from NYC I wish I had a way to get down there on Aug. 20th!! I so WANT this palette!!

lafemmetopaz Avatar

WOW, UD is killing me this year. I bought the 15th Ann. Palette and now this. I have 4 UD Palettes already, LOL. My mind is already looking forward to Teal dream combo of Haight, Aquarius, Flipside and now Hijack. Also, Bender looks absolutely fun to use.

Amanda Avatar

Boring colors, unnecessary tech equipment. I suppose UD was trying to appeal to the technology that is in our everyday life, but it just doesn’t fit in here. PASS

VJNS Avatar

I am in love with UD but…… I wish they would stop with the Baked and Midnight Cow-shades. Can’t they come up with something different? I’m good with the Gunmetal though. It’s one of my favorite shades. As for this Book of Shadows….grroooooooveeeeee!

Anna Avatar

I am really liking the colors! I have the BOSII, Naked palette and the 15th anniversary one so I only have 3 shades out of the 16 which is great! Besides I love Sin and Gunmetal 😀

Adelita Avatar

I just dance in excitement when I saw the 2nd row. Those are totally my colors!
Is it just me or UD now put many neutral colors on their palettes since the booming Naked palette? It’s fine by me, though. But I’m afraid they gonna do this again on the next palette. I have too many neutral colors right now, I need diversity.

Can’t wait till it fully launch, since I don’t reside in US… 🙁

Christine Avatar

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG I just got the 15th Anniversary pallette….I WILLL own this as well……to die for….UD is throwing MAC under the bus this year!!!!!

meme Avatar

Gives us a look at what might be some of the new UD shadow shades since they pulled just about all the mattes down, closed them out and I am curious to see what’s next as am a huge fan of their matte shadows. This looks like a really good collection and glad to know there are some normal shades coming along soon. I am not a fan of my 15th pallet at all, in fact taking it back. I will wait for this one to come out.

alison Avatar

i only have the naked palette and the 15th anniversary, so i think i’m going to get this one! i LOVE sin and use it all the time, so i wouldn’t mind having a backup. a second gunmetal i’m ‘eh’ on (i haven’t used it a single time yet), and i haven’t even opened my 15th palette yet, but… i think even with the dupes i’m going to get it. really happy about that full size liquid liner, too!

Ana Popescu Avatar

I believe this will be my first Urban Decay product! I usually go for Benefit, but this BOS is AWESOME! UDPP, Shadows AND an iPhone speaker?? HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!

Mara Avatar

This is a likely skip for me. I already have BOS II & III, the Naked palette, the Deluxe Shadow Box, the Show Pony and also ordered the 15th Anniversary palette. If only they would come out with an all-matte Naked II palette, sigh. Are you reading this, Urban Decay?

Sara Avatar

I love this! I love the packaging but I wish you could remove the eyeshadow . They should put all the eyeshadows in a seperate palette thats removable somewhat like an inglot palette, that would be so lovely.

Marina Avatar

Hmmm….I think I’ll be passing on this. My makeup budget is kind of small and I bought the UD 15 Anniversary palette – which I’m thinking is better than this because of the variety and packaging. Though I love the extras (Mascara, Liquid Liner, UDPP, + Electronics) I’m definitely gonna pass on this. 2 Questions: Midnight Rodeo is in the 15 Palette and was new for that so why are they ALREADY repromoting it? Also, Why promote this early when you just launched something? If you’re anything like me you’d be more likely to buy it if the party was in October and it launched like 2 weeks later. This doesn’t give you time to save up. Really, UD?

Anitacska Avatar

Hey, no Midnight Cowboy? (Midnight Cowgirl is a tad better imo.) 🙂 Can’t say the colours are that exciting, possibly the dullest combination of all BOS so far. But it’s nice to see they’ve included a liquid eyeliner and mascara instead of a Zero 24/7 or a brush. Will probably buy it just to complete my BOS collection.

queenfrostine Avatar

I’m so not thrilled with the price increase here. I realize that this set comes with a few more extras than past BoS palettes, but I’m unlikely to use the mascara and the USB thing seems like a goofy gimmick to justify a new $10 mark up. The YouTube makeup videos that I can already watch for free on my iPhone are at least as good, if not better, anyway. The switch from the standard zero pencil liner to the liquid liner is a nice touch. Having it be full sized makes up for the fact that this set comes with just one eyeliner shade rather than the 2 that came last year.

Unless the exclusive shades on this one end up being super unique, I’ll have no trouble passing. $64 is a lot of money. Especially when you already have 5/6 repeat shades and several of the “exclusive” shades look like standard neutrals that many of us already own in some form or another. When the first BoS palette came out, it was a breath of fresh air because it was the first palette from UD in a very long time that offered something new rather than the same old permanent collection shades that were being repromoted in nearly every palette. Now at BoS 4 or 5 (depending on whether we count the Alice in Wonderland palette), this dish is starting to taste stale again.

taylor Avatar

I missed the 15th anniversary limited edition shadow pallette, and the BOS volume 3, so i reallllly need to get my hands on this! I am in love with urban decay and i really hope i can get this before it runs out!

Jill Avatar

Cobra was first seen in the Ammo Palette
Sin, Gunmetal and Baked from Naked Palette, as well as single token pots,
Midnight Cowgirl is a color available in the single token pots (unsure if it was seen in a previous palette)
Midnight Rodeo was in the UD 15 Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection…On this note: I thought the UD 15 palette has 15 “Exclusive shades” to that palette alone. I noticed MR is in BOS IV and was also in UD 15, so I referenced the cardboard slip from the back of the box displaying the colors and it says “new, never-before-seen” shades….tricky, tricky UD.

Alyssa Avatar

I have yet to try any UD products (I go so crazy with MAC and Givenchy) but I do like this palette. I know some people are turned off by the butterflies, but I like them! This seems like a good mix of neutrals and color. I’m gonna wait for swatches, but as of now I want since its a better value then the anniversary palette (just $9 more for an extra shadow, primer potion, eyeliner, and the electronics are a nice bonus) Hope they swatch well so I can claim this as my first UD palette!

Amanda Dubs Avatar

I like these shadows and the minis but…i don’t think I’ll be getting this. The anniversary palette is amazing enough for me for awhile.

victoria Avatar

i dont own many neutral colours, so this will be a must for me, just need to know when i can get it in the uk….. and it looks fab, i like a gimmick personally, and my urban decay doesnt normally leave the house unless its already on my face. i want it!

Miss Mercurial Avatar

I’m a tech fiend (writing this via Android, woot) but all that extra gimmicky add-on business is one big HELL TO THE NO.
Damn does Bender look interesting, though…down, inner green hoarder! Down, girl!

Laura Avatar

Oh dear – I’m so disappointed with all the neutrals here 🙁 Ok, the Naked Palette is amazing and we all love it, but I like most of Urban Decay’s palettes for their brights! I get the feeling, from the new 15 anniversary palette and now this, that they’re trying to cash in on the success of Naked by focusing more on neutral colours. Can’t blame them I suppose, but it’s a shame to me. I want more bright colours! That said, I will still get this because I have all the BOS and the collector in me won’t let me miss one.

Sara Avatar

I’m more interested in the extras besides the shadows. I’ve got a bunch of UD palettes now and there is nothing screaming “buy this one too!!” here except for the full size liner, what looks like mascara, and whatever the heck else is going on. I’m happy it’s not appealing to me. 😀

April Avatar

The packaging on these prevents me from buying them. I wish UD would knock it off and out them in a regular palette or something similar to the Naked Palette. It’s just so big and bulky and juvenile, but beyond that, there’s now way I’d travel with this and I travel every other week.

msharma Avatar

this time i m gonna wait to see it in stores as opposed to ordering it online, like i did w/ the 15 yr palette. don’t get me wrong, the 15 yr palette is great, but i don’t think i’ll get much use out of it. i mostly wear neutrals, and i thought that bcos it had neutrals on the left and a couple on the right, i could justify buying it and get the color colors as well. but the neutrals, i think are too light for my skintone, so i m sort of disappointed. as a result, i will wait until i see it in the stores. if i do buy it, it will be my first bos.

LM Avatar

don’t need plugins on my MU but ty anyway UD. glad no zero pencil and the liner and mascara are nice but ick packaging and OMG why mostly neutrals with a few shades that say more laura mercier than edgy.

no thanks for $60+ of boring brown eyeshadow

Going to pass on this one. The colors look a little blah to me and I don’t really want a musical eyeshadow palette! I’m betting they have something really big up their sleeve for Holiday/15th Anniv. # 4, so I’m going to wait and see!

If they got rid of all the unnecessary gadgets, then I would buy it. I love the eyeshadows and the other goodies but paying $10 more for technology I’m never gonna use is ridiculous.

My make-up junkie side and geek girl side are both squeeing at this!! I wish I could get up to NYC but alas buying a house means no extras right now. I will be first online to nab this gem up though when it’s released!

Hmm, the only colors I’m interested in are hijack and bender. All the other colors are pretty similar to what I have in my other UD palettes, if not identical. I hate when they release collections that contain some of the same shadows that have been previous ones. I’d prefer a palette with random colors than one that flows being that I already have shadows from UD that are perfect highlighters and contourers. Don’t care much for the extra bling. If I was a baller I might get it and not care about the old shadows mixed w/ the new. Just bought the UD anniversary palette so I’ll pass on this one. -__-

I absolutely love the look of these shades (and the gadgets are *awesome*)…However, I splashed out on the 15th Anniversary palette and also ended up swapping away my Book of Shadows Vol. III because I rarely used it, so I may have to force myself to pass on this one!

OMG!!! I LOVE all the BOS!! Just bought the first ones ( Vol. 1, 2, and Alice) on eBay for more than I will ever admit!!
IMO, $64 is a FAB value. I’d pay $164 if necessary.

PS- Did anyone notice that UD has the huge Anniversary eye pencil collection back for sale? Just ordered mine. 🙂 It’s a very HAPPY UD DAY!!

Hmmm … not sure how exactly I feel about this palette. I also feel the gadgets are gimmicky and useless to those of us w/ no iPhones. I do however like the makeup extras. I think it’s just dependent on Too Faced. I always get stuck between the two brands during the holidays, especially last year. Too Faced won me over when they had their Glamourland set which toppled UD’s BOS3.

i want it, but i think i really just want it for how much you get at such a great price, when in reality, ill rarely use the bright colors, and im sure the neutrals contain that annoying glitter that a lot of UD shadows have, and 90% of people hate it. i wish they would stop doing that.

Lacey Avatar

lol this is my second time commenting. another thing i dont understand about UD. they hype up all of these palettes so everyone buys them, and then, when they come up with a large palette like this, everybody already has like 1/3 of the shadows from it, and doesnt really want to buy it.

I wonder if all the technology and lights shows are a designed to distract us from the fact that the colors are repeated time and time again. So sad….

OMG I’M GONNA BE SOOOOOOO POOR! 🙁 I don’t get the speaker thing though…..I don’t need that. Cut that out and shave a few bucks off the price. Just my opinion. I know there are extra minis and a f/s liquid liner, but this is $10 higher than last year if I remember correctly. Quite a hike.

When exactly this book of shadow will be released? I will save my money right now and will for sure be at my sephora the day it launch. I won’t do the same mistake as I did for the Naked Palette. I did wait and wasn’t able to put my hand on it and still can :o(. Because I live in Québec, Canada and our local sephora is really small and do carry a lot of products. I love Urban Decay and even if I won’t pay 80$ or more for this palette. I still don’t care how much it is… I am still gonna get it.

Autumn Angel Avatar

I kind of think the whole technological aspect is unnecessary.. it’s sort of just a reason to charge $10 more than last year’s BOS 😛 I However, I’m diggin’ that you get a liquid liner with the pallette unlike the others. And also that the mini UDPP is now in a squeeze tube as well 🙂 The mascara I could do without 😛 Putting in a mini 24/7liner (since I so dearly love those and could never have enough) would have made me happier. 🙂 But I’ll still probably buy this when it launches <3 The colors of the shadows are sooo freakin' gorgeous.

Jen (Cosette's Cosmetics) Avatar

Not impressed with this at all. :\ I mean, I am really happy that it comes with liquid liner instead of Zero, and UDPP in a damn tube, that is progress. But the eyeshadow colors leave a lot to be desired. Even if you don’t own the Naked palette, this one is half tone-on-tone neutrals, and the other colors aren’t even bright or unique. That + already having some of them + just bought the anniversary palette = PASS.
