Urban Decay ABC Gum Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “pale peach matte.” It’s a warm-toned peach with a matte finish. The texture is soft, finely-milled, albeit a bit powdery, but it blends really well and sits nicely on the skin (doesn’t look powdery). Kat Von D Vespertine is more orange. Urban Decay Freestyle is darker, cooler. Urban Decay Skimp is lighter, more shimmery. MAC Orb is pinker. bareMinerals Peace is darker, more shimmery. bareMinerals Stealth is slightly warmer. Inglot #390 is cooler. See comparison swatches.

Asphyxia Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “hyacinth shimmer with blue shift.” It’s a light-medium, pink-lavender with an iridescent, blue sheen. The texture was soft, slightly powdery, and applies best with a moderately firm brush. The color payoff was so-so, but it is buildable to mostly opaque color payoff; applied over a base, and true-to-pan opacity is possible. MAC Stars ‘n Rockets is a bit darker. Urban Decay Grifter is less pink, more shimmery. Urban Decay Tainted is less shimmery, purpler. L’Oreal With a Twist is slightly purpler. See comparison swatches.

Haight Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “mermaid blue shimmer.” It’s a muted, medium-dark blue with a hint of green (but it’s not enough to make it teal) and has a frosted finish. The color payoff is lovely and rich, while the texture is soft, smooth, and buttery. It’s easy to use and blend out on the lid. Tom Ford Emerald Lust #3 is tealer. theBalm Open to Offers Olwen is similar. Urban Decay Junkie is darker, greener. Urban Decay Unhinged is slightly lighter. Guerlain Les Aquas #3 is darker. See comparison swatches.

When I wore these shades, Asphyxia had some fall out after six hours or so but didn’t fade or crease, while the other two eyeshadows wore well for nine hours without fading or creasing (no primer).

Interesting. I have an ancient pan of Asphyxia and the colour payoff is quite good- better than it looks here. Also, my old one looks more purple, less pink. I’d love to compare the two, but it sounds like I’m better off hanging on to what I have for as long as I can.

Asphyxia was pretty awesome and unique when UD debuted it so many years ago, but now it is pretty dupeable. It was part of their original line, wasn’t it? Haight is especially gorgeous, but I don’t have much use for a mid-tone blue like that. Very nice swatches though, as always.

I have LOVED Asphyxia from the first day I found Urban Decay. I don’t have anything like it and really want it for my stash. Remind me, does UD still make Fishnet? I know they axed the Deluxe line in favor of one whole line of shadows and just put certain Deluxe shades in the regular line. Haight is also pretty but I don’t really care for ABC Gum’s color. I already have colors that blend right into my skin 😛

I absolutely adore ABC Gum. It is my go-to shade for all matte looks, its also a color I use all over the lid for a ‘my skin but better’ finish. It blends beautifully, it is soft, does not fade, crease, I LOVE it.

I generally do not buy singles from UD but this one I will buy again and again.

I never really liked the Urban Decay eyeshadows that I have tried — I even threw them out!

But I do like the idea of using that Haight shade along the lower lash lines as an eyeliner. Otherwise, they look a bit too expensive for what you get.

I feel like Asphyxia is a weaker version of Fishnet from the Deluxe Shadow Box. I don’t know why they’d keep the less pigmented one!
