I got my Ulta Sale Ad in the mail today and already marked my calendar for each day I plan to get something! Lots of good deals for me this time around. I applied for their credit card and should have it sometime next week. I think I’ll just be handing over my next paycheck to Ulta because I’ve got a pricey order scheduled for tomorrow (planned it to hit on my birthday for the extra points) using the 20% off coupon I got (replacing a blow dryer), then when my card comes I get to use another 20% off coupon that has almost no exclusions (so I can get some of the Honest and Lauder products I want), plus I’ll get my free UD eyeshadow and use the $10 off birthday month coupon, plus I will get double points all month because it’s my birthday plus another extra point for every dollar because I’ll be using my Ulta Mastercard!
Also, did you know Ulta was considering adding another tier to their rewards program? I believe the tier they are considering would start at either $1,000 or $1,500 in spending. I’m really hoping they move forward with the new tier idea because the benefits they may be adding sound freaking amazing!
Michele, great minds think alike!!! I’m thinking the EXACT same thing – getting that Ulta credit card, so I can earn bonus dollars at Ulta and for non-Ulta purchases (including gasp competitor Sephora!). And it’s my birthday this month too, so I’ll be racking up the points, freebies, and coupons! I didn’t know they were thinking about adding another tier. OMG, being Platinum is SO rewarding already, I will be so excited to see how they can top that! At the last big Ulta 5-10x points event, I earned enough Ulta dollars to get like 50% off everything and and enough for a free Foreo Luna ($$$) in future. I’ve been moving as many purchases from Sephora to Ulta as possible. I love Sephora, but their rewards program is ridiculously deficient. Spend $20,000 to get 20,000 points for a chance to win a “free” makeover with celebrity makeup artist? Um no thanks! I’d rather spend $2,000 at 10x Ulta bonus points to earn $20,000 Ulta reward dollars, which will keep me Platinum until I croak and give me enough free makeup to last 2 lifetimes. And happy early birthday 🙂
Well happy birthday to you too! Actually since I read this today, you got it right on my birthday (9/1). Wow that’s great with the points. You’ll have to let me know what you think of the Foreo Luna after you get it. It’s no secret I’m not a big fan of Sephora bc of the overtax issue; it’s a pain to track my purchases and submit to my State Tax Dept. for my refunds. And I completely agree about their rewards – what garbage! I’m just under 10,000 points and now that they’re adding the big rewards without notice, I don’t really stand a chance of getting anything good. I may just wait for some 500 point ones, stock up, and then stop shopping there altogether. And yeah, I was contacting by Ulta with a survey about the new tier. Options they were looking at were things like: free 2nd day ship upgrade, private in-store events and makeovers, $25 off a beauty service, free beauty services after x-number of services, 5x points shopping days of your choice, deluxe gifts, etc.
OMG, free 2 day shipping with no minimum would be HUGE! That’s one of the biggest advantages Sephora has right now. For Ulta, I have to keep a running list of stuff to meet the $50 min shipping, or I have to throw in essentials like soap and hair coloring kits. But if they could lower their min to maybe $25 and ship it to me within 2 days, I would still be pretty happy, because they have sales all the time, and I earn Ulta dollars.
Oh wait, I goofed. That’s $2,000 US dollars x 10.25 pts = 20,500 Ulta points (not $20,000 Ulta Reward dollars, I wish! ), which will still earn you about $1,270 in Ulta reward dollars back, not a lifetime of makeup, but too shabby either!
Can you imagine 20,000 in Ulta Reward Dollars?! I just got my Ulta birthday email with the free UD shadow coupon and the $10 off one. I’ll most likely swing into the store this weekend to get my shadow. My bestie got me a bunch of stuff plus an Ulta gift card – you think she knows me pretty well 😉

That’s tough – I like Afterglow a bit more than LORAC, and I tend to prefer a less shimmery finish, so I’d go Afterglow between it and Becca, but I do like the Becca ones a lot – they are just quite shimmery.
Edit: You’re right, it is the Mineral Blush! They are more varied in finish 🙂 I’d still go Afterglow, though – slightly better, I guess, and the finish is just perfect for my taste!

Seeing these quite amazing markdowns/sales makes me so envious as we don’t have Ulta in Canada. But 40% off some really great items has my teeth gnashing! I’m consoling myself with the fact that Sephora has put a few of their best (and some previously “discontinued”) liners, including Snakeskin Dress and Rooftop Party, on SALE for $7 each! My order is on its way (and the Post Office isn’t going on strike!).

That is tough! The ones I wear the most are Fetish, Rapture, and Video! I would say that the more unique shades are Rapture, Bittersweet, and Quiver 🙂

I noticed something strange at the 2 ULTAs in my area. They selectively turn off lighting over the drugstore cosmetics area so that it’s very dim. I think to make it hard for the shopper to browse those aisles. Does anyone else notice this?
I have visited 4 different Ultas in the past month and have no noticed this.
I’ve been eyeing the LORAC Buildable Blush in Ultraviolet for a while now, but that’s really the only thing that is catching my eye :/ Sadly, I’m not platinum so I’m still debating if it’s worth the $5 shipping
September is my birthday month, so I’m hoping to combine my $10 platinum gift with one of these deals! I can’t pick between the UD Afterglow blush or Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue. There really aren’t a whole lot of reviews for the Stila palette.
