I wanted the set last year, but I passed on it. This year’s set is full size AND comes in a beautiful red lacquer colour, so I couldn’t say no!
I completely lost it after reading the review of sweetmakeuptemptation and pre-ordered it… It’s a bit of a crazy expense to decide so fast but I know for a fact that I would have ended up regretting missing it out.
Considering I ordered the Suqqu cheek not so long ago I can say I’m in no buy for a pair of months (until the arrival of the holiday’s collections in Europe ? 😉 )… and fully covered for brushes!
I just hope to be in the first batch dispatched in September now !
I got the set last year and I wasn’t impressed. I own a couple of individual Chikuhodo brushes (including the big powder brush) and the quality of the Beautylish set was not up to par. It’s not nearly as full or soft and the quality of the hair itself was lacking. I’ll pass.
I completely agree and wish I had returned mine last year. Quality just so-so. I passed on the new set as well.
Same for me…I was disappointed with the set last year. Feel the quality of the individual brushes are much better. Shall pass.
This genuinely breaks my heart. I am moving apartments this month and straight-up don’t have the money for this set. I passed on the set last year because I prefer full size brushes, but these are absolutely undeniable and I feel as though I’m going to watch them slip through my fingers like the sands of time. My heart gently weeps, but I must move onward.
Happy endings — I just discovered that I actually have the resources to make this purchase happen. These babies, with any luck, will be mine! SWEET JOY! I could NOT let these babies slip away for me. My heart is dancing with — can’t wait to try out a water badger brush for the first time. Also, the price is right in line for these brushes. Hakuhodo’s large white goat powder brush is like 83 bucks, so I’ll happily pay a similar price for a brush with such gorgeous ornamentation. Can’t wait to try out Chikuhodo for the first time. I am so thrilled!
Glad they are offering another set for those interested, but I got last year’s set, so I’m good. My wallet is still crying LOL. Plus, I prefer the cherry blossom design against the black handles and the dark hairs more.
I got mine! I need to relax now and stop with purchases since I spent a bunch of money at beauty.com (however you spent WAY more than me, lol!!) and also got some stuff from Beauty Bay and Ulta (although the Ulta stuff was free with points).
I needed a new powder, blush/bronzer, and crease blending brush. I could use the foundation one too so that’s nice, but I’m definitely gonna try and sell the eyebrow and lip brush because I know I won’t use those!
Beautiful!
Oh lord, I think brushes can be works of art. Take a look at these, and check out the darling Qusavi

I will pass on this Sakura collection, but I do appreciate the craftsmanship.
Then there is this. No way could I ever afford this level of brush. Absolutely belongs in a museum. http://www.kashoen.jp/home-en
Would Love to buy them seperate. I just Do not Need a Full set. The lip brush Looks interesting. I Do nötig like to use a lip brush but maybe that is just because I have not found a good one yet.
Maybe you can make a question of the day asking for the best lip brush.
Buying makeup brushes based almost solely on their aesthetic is beyond rash… and yet I can’t help but notice how gorgeous those red handles are. lol And the delicate white flowers are a lovely touch.
I got last years set – I was thinking about getting this one but I’m not feeling the lip brush at all. I wish they had omitted it and kept the price at what it was last year.
I purchased them today! I’ve never tried that brand so I hope I like them. Most of my brushes are MAC, Sigma, and Wayne Goss, which I love. I was torn between getting these or getting another Wayne set but I decided to try this brand. Hope I don’t regret it:-/
So pretty!
I have to say pass to this. I just came from Japan last May and I made a huge damage on my pocket buying all the brushes. Kinda like the design from last year. But this a great buy because most of the brushes from this set are made of saikoho goat hair.
I bought a set!!! Since I got last year’s and totally love them, I just felt like I had to get these. TBH I don’t LOVE the red on red design. so much red. The only place I really love to see red is on the lips! But I can’t deny they’re beautiful. And I’m hoping the quality is as good as last year’s, despite the difference in hair.
I am passing for about four reasons. I have every brush/set Wayne Goss put out. I have the Chikuhodo
Takumi Series set, I have the entire Artis Elite Mirror Brush Set – 10 piece and I will be buying the Chikuhodo Z-Series 8 piece Brush Set as soon as Visage has another sale. As far as luxury brushes go, I think I will own everything I have ever lusted after once I make the Z series purchase. These are too close in material and hopefully quality to what I already own. Too pricy for the redundancy of it.
They are pretty though. I do have quality concerns though as some of you spoke about here.
