Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Hi Christine. This dupe list is really helpful – I almost ordered 1995 but I decided on Omi instead (and Elson, which I can’t wait to see IRL!!). Rose-toned lipsticks suit me better than nudes. I’ve always had trouble with nude lipsticks and there are only a select few that suit me so I didn’t want to risk it and order 1995 sight unseen. I will definitely be swatching MUFE M101 next time I’m in Sephora.

When you are compiling your dupe lists for lipsticks, you are strictly looking for colour matches, right? Not texture, finish, or longevity?

The way it looks – color, finish, and ideally, similar opacity – just not necessarily quality. I start my search narrowly and only expand if there aren’t enough dupes (like only a handful). For example, when I look for a dupe for 1995, I looked for similar colors within matte, semi-matte, and satin finishes.

Nude lipsticks present the exact same problem for me, Erin. I’m neutral olive complexion around NC20 level and I’m confident 1995 will not work for me either. Although I have been holding out on the Pat McGrath lipsticks (they are $52 dollars in Canada. Yowch), my favourite picks from the formula included Omi using the same reasoning.

You’re an angel for doing this! I’ve been eyeing 1995 so hard, but I really shouldn’t be spending that much on a lipstick – no matter how pretty it is. It being limited edition wasn’t helping my case, so I’m glad that there are plenty of really close dupes.

I hesitated on 1995 and now it’s sold out :(. Hoping they relaunch these in the future like some of the other collections! In the meantime I’ll enjoy the dupes.
