Top 10 of 2011: Blushes & Highlighters

Top 10 of 2011: Blushes & Highlighters

It’s so hard for me to pick favorites, but these are ten products that really caught my eye this year for adding color and/or glow to cheeks. Since these are products for 2011, I did exclude any spring 2012 products that may have been reviewed this year, as they’re technically for next – so these feature products new for 2011 and permanent products I discovered this year! 🙂

  1. Guerlain Parure de Nuit
  2. Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous
  3. Guerlain Blush G Serie Noire
  4. Benefit Watt’s Up
  5. Tarte Exposed
  6. Guerlain Terra Inca
  7. Tarina Tarantino Feather
  8. NYX Menage a Trois
  9. NARS Oasis
  10. Chanel Beiges Ombres Tissees

What was your favorite blush/highlighter that you discovered this year?

I’m surprised not to see Dior Amber Diamond on this list.

I haven’t been using blush/highlighter lately– only bronzer to liven up my face a bit. NARS Laguna.

Oh my god Christine, this is makeup porn! I am very tempted to grab that Guerlain peacock palette, but I’ve promised myself to first finish my highlighters that I already have.

Love this! Thanks for doing this! If you were to do 11 of 2011 (because…you know…it’s ’11!) what product would you add in?
I’ve been wanting Watt’s Up for a while, may just have to make the splurge. I don’t have a highlighter like it. I’ve also been wanting to try a Tarte blush ever since they came out. And those NYX blushes are cheap, good quality, and have some funky packaging! And I want that Laura Mercier badly too! And the Guerluin looks to die for! AH. Decisions…decisions…

Blush would probably be Dollymix from MAC and highlighter is TheBalm’s Mary Lou Manizer (though I might have “discovered” it last year but since I don’t need a lot of different highlighters, the 3 I have more than fill the bill).

Tarte Exposed! I just received Peaceful and I can’t wait to see how it will perform on my cheeks, but Tarte Exposed is really just an enhancement of my normal cheek color. Doesn’t wear 12 hours on me but oh well :p

Hi Temptalia!

My favorite blush (that I’ve discovered this year) is Shiseido The Makeup Accentuating Color Sticks, they are so nice and colorful, I’ve kinda oily skin, they suit me very well and last all day, and they’re very build able. I looove these!!!!

I love your picks. The first time I wore Nars Oasis was at a baby shower recently. My cousin raved so much about how nice it looked, I pulled the compact out of my purse and gave it to her….lol She was thrilled to receive it 🙂

I love the look of Guerlain Blush G Serie Noire. I think that would definitely look beautiful on darker complexions. I know this line is cost heavy, but for the quality, I think it would be worth it. I have two Chanel blushes (Reflex and Plum Attraction), and at $50cdn a piece (worth every penny), those will last me a decent amount of time. I love those blushes and they cover all my blush needs.

I own the Laura Mericer one and I love it–it’s one of my favorite highlighter of the year (the other being Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl). My favorite blush of the year would have to be Benefit’s Bella Bamba.

MAC Pink Cult, Stunner and Equilibrium Blushes, Pink Power, Semi-Precious Rose Quartz and Semi-Precious Pearl MSFs, Mighty Aphrodite Blush Duo and I also discovered Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Nectar this year.

I’m looking to get a highlighter, I don’t have one at all! What would you suggest for a subtle (no sparkle!) highlight on NW10-15 skin that won’t break the bank? I’ve considered Watt’s Up but not sure how the cream will be on my oily skin.

Again no Dolce&Gabbana on your list? I loved the Animalia Bronzer which lasts for ages and the packaging is so luxurious.
Also the blush in Peach is one of my favourites
