Fleur Neige

Tom Ford Beauty Fleur Neige Cream & Powder Eye Color ($62.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a new, limited edition duo that features a sparkling, white gold powder eyeshadow and a creamy, pearly taupe cream eyeshadow.

With the powder eyeshadow layered on top of the cream eyeshadow, the color created was a light-medium, sparkling pewter with warmer undertones. Both products performed consistently with past duos released by the brand, though I felt like the cream eyeshadow was slightly too emollient, so it wasn’t as foolproof to work with.

Fleur Neige (Eye Color)

Fleur Neige (Eye Color) is a pale, white gold with moderate, warm udnertones and a sparkling finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation applied dry (see the angled swatch for a better representation of coverage as the base color of this shade really blends in with my skin tone!) and mostly opaque coverage with higher sparkle content when applied with a dampened brush.

The texture was more firmly pressed in the pan with a slightly denser, thicker feel to it, which helped the sparkles to combine with the underlying base pigment and adhere better to bare skin. There was slight fallout during application when I was blending out the edges. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours with slight fallout over time.

Fleur Neige (Cream Color)

Fleur Neige (Cream Color) is a muted, medium-dark smoky taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a fine, pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage, but the formula seemed to have some added slip (that I wasn’t used to), which seemed to give it that slightly sheerer effect when initially applied.

The consistency was creamy, spreadable, and felt a little whipped in texture in the pot, so it had an airy quality to it that helped the edges blend out well. I’d recommend applying it and letting it “soft set” for about five to ten seconds before blending it out. It’s a forgiving product, though, as you can still blend out the edges softly even after it dries down–it doesn’t have a really firm/dry set (that can sometimes crack). It wore well for 12 hours without fading or creasing on me.

Formula Overview

$45.00/0.17 oz. - $264.71 Per Ounce

The Cream Color for Eyes formula is supposed to be “ultra-pigmented” and “metallic” with a “creamy formula” that doesn’t “crease or smudge.” The majority of the shades I’ve tried in the range live up to those things–good pigmentation but can be applied sheerly (use less and/or apply with a fluffy brush) or kept opaque (a little goes a long way) with eight to twelve hours of wear (no primer). They’re blendable and dry down fast enough not to crease too easily while you’re working on them but not so quickly that they don’t budge. I did find that a couple of the new shades were more emollient than past shades and did have a longer dry down time and were harder to keep out of creases (in this review, that would be Siren Blue).

Glad I took a pass.. just too much money. I loved the original platinum shadow for a long time, but I tossed it feeling its shelf life was over. I had other shades of the product and didn’t really use them as much as I thought I would. As Deborah said, they would get tucked into a drawer and I would forget about them.

I have a couple of these shadows from TF and really only use Platinum and then only as a one and done kind of a look. Not sure why, except that they are in my drawer with other single shadows and likely I just forget they are there. This doesn’t seem to be a very unique colour so one I can pass on easily.

This is beautiful! Do you have any good dupes for the colour when the two are layered?

Unrelated to the post but do you have any plans to review any of the Victoria Beckham beauty line?

Copied and pasted from above: We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can’t commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don’t want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don’t always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Oh sorry! I just saw another review where someone asked about some brushes and you responded to them that you weren’t planning to review them and your reasons why so I didn’t know we couldn’t ask about new releases. I’ll be more mindful in the future!

Christine Avatar

In general, the answer is “maybe,” so instead of having to write out the same spiel and why I can’t give an affirmative yes, I’ve included it above the comments to help make the time I spend replying to comments more efficient. If I am asked and I know the answer is no, I will let the reader know so that they aren’t left wondering since I have a specific answer that isn’t going to change because I got busy with other products, you know?

If it’s something that I might review, that’s the answer (what I copied + pasted) – I might do so but there are so many factors that limit what I end up reviewing (just because I buy something doesn’t mean I review it, just because I swatch something, doesn’t mean I end up having time to review it, etc.). I feel like I let readers down so often that the last thing I want to do is say “yes” and it turns out that no, I didn’t get to it, or if I say “yes” and that ends up being four months from now, etc.

Edited to add: There are, of course, occasional moments where I have more time to respond to comments and may answer without copying and pasting (like I’m on my phone waiting for an appointment) because it’s faster to just respond on the fly, or if I know that I’ve written the review and it’s coming and feel comfortable saying so!

Dee Avatar

Of course! Thank you for the thorough explanation. Though you shouldn’t feel like you let any readers down, your site has been an invaluable source to many of us for years and your hard work is much appreciated!

Fleur Neige is $86 here ($11 more than the original shades in this line) and considering I only madly crave the cream shadow shade, that’s a heck of a lot for one cream shadow. I’m floored that I only have 2 of the listed dupes and neither seems all that close (Stila Stone and Clarins Brown #3).

My heavens this is a lovely duo. I’ve been wearing it blended out and with the topper to finish and it is one of the easiest and prettiest duos on TF’s cream/powder range. I’m very thankful for a cooler tones.
