Tom Ford Beauty Raw Jade Eye Color Duo
Tom Ford Beauty Raw Jade Eye Color Duo

Tom Ford Beauty Raw Jade Eye Color Duo ($60.00 for 0.13 oz.) consists of a brighter, iridescent green-tinged white and a deeper, olive green. The formula can be used wet or dry, with dry application for a “sleek and soft finish” or “wet for a bold and chromatic finish.” It is similar to products like MAC In Extra Dimension, NARS Dual Intensity, Estee Lauder Gelee, and so forth.

Raw Jade (Left) is an iridescent green-tinted white with a metallic finish. It had mostly opaque coverage applied dry, but it appeared yellower/warmer. Applied with a dampened brush, it was more metallic and brighter. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and fairly smooth, but it didn’t apply as smoothly as it could have. The color started to fade after nine hours of wear. MAC Fresh Blade (LE, $15.00) is less metallic. LORAC Unlocked (P) is yellower. LORAC Opal (LE) is lighter. Make Up For Ever D416 Crystalline Yellow (P, $21.00) is less green. Make Up For Ever D316 Crystalline Pinky Green (P, $21.00) is greener. Dior Dulcinee #2 (LE) is similar. MAC Zestful (LE, $19.50) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Raw Jade (Right) is a medium-dark olive green with warm, khaki undertones and a frosted finish. It applied very much the same whether used dry or wet, though it was a smidgen more metallic damp. It had excellent color payoff with a really smooth, silky texture that blended well on the skin. The color wore well without fading for nine and a half hours. Giorgio Armani Green Iron (06) (P, $38.00) is a liquid product. Hourglass Color Field #4 (P) is similar. Sephora + Pantone Universe Dusty Olive (LE) is similar. Makeup Geek Jester (P, $9.99) is brighter, lighter. theBalm Kawabunga (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Make Up For Ever I328 Bronze (P, $21.00) is darker. Make Up For Ever I324 Bronze Khaki (P, $21.00) is lighter. Makeup Geek Kryptonite (P, $6.99) is lighter. Urban Decay Stash (LE, $18.00) is similar. Urban Decay Mildew (P, $18.00) is lighter. bareMinerals Eureka (P) is darker. bareMinerals Speaker Box (LE) is darker. Inglot #419 (P, $6.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ooooo this is pretty. I have the new cream color (love it, duh) and it definitely would work beautifully with this. Gonna wait to see how Ripe Plum reviews because I’m having a tough time deciding between the two. I just love the dirty olive-jade here so much. I picked up both mascaras though so we’ll see haha…

Unfortunately they were a bit delayed for weather so they’re still on the way. I will ABSOLUTELY let you guys know how they are. I’m very picky about colored mascara because my lashes are double, very thick, very long, and very black. Most of them don’t work well on me. NYX’s Jade shade, however, has been great so I’m hopeful about the green.

I also would love to know your thoughts on the mascaras or any quality of TF mascara if you have used it in the past?I have been holding myself back from ordering them because I know I probably won’t wear them daily and those are things that have to be pitched in 3 mos, 4 mos if you push it. I have never used a Tom ford mascara. But, those are beauties! and those would pull me through summer and spring along with a basic!

This will be my first go of it! Usually it’s so easy to get great high-end mascara samples that I rarely ever buy them. Plus my two daily-use favorites are tubing mascaras (Blinc Amplified and Fairy Drops, neither of which are super duper pricey). But I have used a good amount of Dior mascaras (including some colored versions sucessfully), all the Guerlain ones (which I love, they’re just a lot to invest in and easy to get samples of), etc so I have a pretty good basis of comparison for how the higher-ends perform vs the rest. Some are really worth it and some are really not.

Will update once they’re here 🙂 Weather delayed them slightly. I got early access thanks to a friend at Tom Ford but now they might take a while haha.

So excited for you! I can’t wait to hear the outcome! I bet they both will look stunning on you. Do you like to wear them alone or layered on top of black? I am seriously considering one. Problem is I love both shades! Keep me posted on what you think!

Aww thanks, bb! With most colored mascaras, my lashes are just too dark to show them if I have added black. But Dior’s blue It mascara gives a nice moody blue-black tint all on its own. NYX’s Jade I have been mixing with black and it looks VERY cool. You get a more intense duo-tone that way. My lashes are so black naturally that they tend to not even react much to white fibers/primers, but adding a little translucent face powder (baby powder would work but that’s too big to be around your eyes so translucent white setting powder it is) can help make the colors show truer too.

Haha that was my problem! My friend offered me one and I couldn’t pick so she got me early access to both. I have a feeling the green will be very pigmented and work well while the black purple will be more subtle. Can’t wait to tell you guys about it haha.

Nicole Avatar

Thanks for the tips Celia! I too have fairly long and black lashes naturally. Probably my best facial asses actually. I asked a lash specialist about extensions once and she refused! I don’t think I would like it anyway. I May have to look for that NYX to try colored mascaras out. I’m 39. So, I probably wouldn’t get much wear out of anything to loud. I was leaning toward the plum. But the jade is just so pretty! Lol. but, then at $44, I thought..that’s a lot for a mascara that I probably wouldn’t use every day even. Keep me posted though! If you think they are worth the $, and they are still around ,I may have to get one or both..They would be fun for spring and summer!

The photo of the product you have does not appear the same as the one as the website to me? I caved and pre-ordered this along with the plum and ordered the cream on Neiman’s last night. I hope you get to review the plum too! These are my first Tom Ford eye products! I am so excited! I must say, at this $, I was hoping for an A+. But that dark olive.. I have nothing to compare and I blew my bday $ after setting aside some for the storage cabinet. I didn’t get to go out or anything for my bday because i have been feeling too bad. So, here’s to frivolous bday spending!

I think I’m gonna be stupid and buy this and the cream eye color. Christine you are 100% to blame for doing that stunning eye look. I hope you’re happy lol. 😉

The new cream eye color is AWESOME. I was a little hesitant about such a dark one on my oily-prone lids but it wore like iron, blended fabulously, and was every bit worth it. Sorry to further enable but those things have such a tendency to sell-out that I’d recommend getting the cream color FOR SURE if you’re interested.

These Aura pigment really shine over a solid colour base. Having the second shade being darker means that you can get some pretty cool gradient looks.

I find it interesting in terms of product each individual pan is about the same size and a larger MAC eyeshadow. So for $9US more you can get MAC’s Zestful again. 😉

Wow, such a gorgeous green, but the $60 price tag is too much for me unless I win the lotto. I’m going to be consoling myself with the dupes, the Makeup Geek one looks promising

Neetz Avatar

Does the light jade color have more dimension when it’s next to other colors? Bc it almost looks white when swatched alone, but it looks so much nicer in the eye look you created

El Avatar

You know, I had to think about it! I think mainly it comes down to these not really being anything super extraordinary, which I tend to think they should be if that sort of price is being charged. Like, I have an Hourglass Ambient Light palette, and it was hella expensive but the product itself is amazing. What I *don’t* expect is that I would be able to look at the swatches and your pretty eye look, and then go grab makeup I already own and be able to recreate basically the same thing without even having to put much effort into the shade choosing. Not that I did that, lol, but I *could* have quite easily.

I think the other thing – and this is true of the purple too, now that those swatches are up – is that the promo material describes the lighter shades as “opalescent” and they look like standard iridescent finishes to me. They don’t have the depth and complexity that I would expect from an opalescent shadow. And where the darker shades are very dupe-able, the duo is disappointing.

Maybe even more disappointing because this duo is green, which is the colour that suits me best for eye makeup (neutral fair skin but very dark, warm brown eyes) and I’ve been on such a green kick as there have been some awesome ones released this spring, but the TF one is just not very interesting – it doesn’t say anything new. :/

I shall dupe your eye look instead using Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Mint Snow, UD Bobby Dazzle, and UD Stash! Much more glittery but I’m okay with that *g*.

First, you did an excellent work, as always, Christine. Better said, it’s becoming better and better.
I do love that olive green. Besides being very beautiful and elegant, it is one of the green’s tones which most enhance hazel and brown eyes.
Right, your gorgeous hazel eyes? (winking smiley face)

This is gorgeous! I wonder if the indigo duo will perform as well. I’m always on the lookout for great dark/saturated true blues, it seems like they must be hard to make. Most of them fade or crease on me after a few hours, even with primer and setting spray.

Kathleen Avatar

I really love the colors in this duo, but I don’t know if it is worth spending $60 on two shadows. Does anyone know if the lighter shade is similar to one of the colors in the Nars duo Iceland? I love the look you created with this duo, Christine. It is, hands down, my favorite of yours to date.
