Tom Ford A/W '16 Lip Contour Duo Review, Photos, Swatches
A/W '16
Tom Ford A/W ’16 Lip Contour Duo ($53.00 for 0.08 oz.) contains a slim lip color with a twist-up “Lip Shaper,” where the lip color hides in the base of the component. The duo has a very light beige lipstick paired with a very light beige lip pencil (with sparkle), and the two are very similar in color and undertone.
The Lip Shaper is designed for enhancing and defining the lips, and it can be used to shape or “create an ombre effect” to the lips, while the lip color is supposed to be full coverage. Sadly, I really like the lip color formula in the duo; it’s very creamy, hydrating, and comfortable to wear with four to six-hour wear time, but the Lip Shaper formulation left a lot to be desired. I struggled with using the Lip Shapers as they often broke on me, as they were quite brittle, and the majority were very dry, so they tugged and dragged on the lips. They also had bits of sparkle, which did not work well for defining the edge of the lips nor did it work out for filling in the lips.

A/W '16 (Lip Color)
A/W ’16 (Lip Color) is a very light, peachy-beige with warm undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It’s a very light, bright beige, and the creaminess of the texture made any imperfections in the formula more apparent than they would have been in a deeper color. The emollient quality of the consistency caused product to settle into lip lines, and it easily streaked–if I pressed my lips together, I saw lines develop. It wore for three hours on me and was moisturizing.

A/W '16 (Lip Shaper)
A/W ’16 (Lip Shaper) is a very light, peachy-beige with flecks of gold sparkle over a matte finish. The consistency was drier and prone to breaking (I broke this one three times, despite trying to be careful!). The Lip Shaper dragged, skipped, and tugged painfully on the lips as I tried to line the edges or fill in my lips. It was incredibly drying over the five and a half hours it lasted.

Eek…!
It could be so much better!
I was hoping these would get a better review!! It failed quite miserably!
I had no idea they were going to be so bad (well, the liners).
The very first thought I had was how this looked just like MAC Myth! But with FAR worse quality than Myth.
Myth is better for sure!
Hell to the no…
This one is tough!
This is a big miss. The lip liner is already a known disaster, but the lip color is so hard to wear, it’s probably not flattering on +95% of people, it already looks like concealer, then add in streakiness and settling, yikes!! For $53, Tom Ford is losing his mind!
And it NEEDS the lip liner!
I’m glad I don’t care for these colors anyway!
Thank goodness!
I have this one, there is no way I can used the lip liner and lipstick together. I look dead. That being said, I LOVE the lip liner with darker lipsticks and with liquid lipsticks (its the only way I can get the liquid lipstick not to look like I just put paint on my lips and let it dry, a varnish-y look if you will). The flecks of glitter and the lighter color liner give a nice highlighting effect.
The lipstick is just a touch too nude, so I use it to lighten other lip colors. Or over my lighter coloured liquid lipsticks (notice how much work goes into a liquid lip? I hope this trend dies and doesn’t tempt me to buy anymore).
That being said, if you want a Tom Ford nude, go for Nude Vanilla it has a much better balance of nude and pink.
I’m glad you can use them separately, at least! 🙂
No way in hell is that for me 😛
Maybe for like, run way, artistic photos? But for day to day. I personally cant think of a person who likes THAT nude of a nude.
Hmm!
Well, easy skip 😀
