tokidoki Perfetto Eyeliner — Love the Applicator, Not Sold on the Shades
tokidoki Perfetto Eyeliner ($16.00) is a felt-tip liquid liner pen. It comes in eight shades: Rondine Love (white), Donutella (medium pink), Ciao Ciao (periwinkle), Arlecchino (dark blue), Mostro (spring green), SANDy (dark green), Carina (eggplant), and Sabochan (black).
I bought two with my Sephora V.I.B. order, because I had a lot of readers request a review of these, so I figured now would be a good time to try 🙂 I picked Mostro and Ciao Ciao as the two to try–I can never resist a green, and well, I’m always game to try anything periwinkle, too.
- Mostro is a muted, yellowed green. Sephora describes it as “spring green,” and I’d say that’s an accurate description. It’s muted and blah–I wore it in this look and you’ll notice it doesn’t pop at all.
- Ciao Ciao is a slightly brightened periwinkle blue. I’d say it’s a bluer periwinkle, but it’s still very much in the periwinkle family. Like Mostro, though, it seems a little muted.
Despite not loving either shade much, I love the applicator… like a TON. I am no pro at lining my upper lash line (because lining the area tends to cause my eyes to swell up or itch, so I don’t do it often!), but these made it a cinch. They’re stiff but not hard, and they deliver opaque color the entire time you’re lining. I can see that those who love really, really thin lining not loving the applicator, though. You can get a nice line that’s not ridiculously thick for sure, but you won’t be able to get a pencil-thin line.
It actually made me sad that I wasn’t into these colors at all but was totally crushing on the applicator. I might look out at the other shades to see if they are less muted. They’re supposed to be “bold shades,” but they just seem a little on the subtle/light side to me. It’s like they had so much more room to pop, but they didn’t go there.
The liner also lasts all day without fading, transferring, or smudging. I wore it on my lower lash line and across my lid (like a diagonal line across part of my lid and crease) to test, and I had no movement whatsoever. I’m really hoping to fall in love with one of the other shades (I’m thinking about trying the black one next), though, since it is such a great product.
Anyone else try these?

Recommendation: The product quality is fantastic on these–long-wearing, doesn’t budge or smudge, and stays true-to-color while you wear it. The color range might not be as fantastic, though, so you may want to swatch before you buy.

HATE THE GREEN! But love the monster on it! And yes, if I had a Sephora near me I would totally buy it as an impulse buy!
Oh wow, the colours look very rich, that’s awesome! I’ll pass though since I would never wear those colours. They look nice though!
the blue is pretty but im REALLY not liking the green.
thanks for reviewing these, i might have to check out hte black one, if its black enough
It’s definitely black enough 😀 I would recommend checking it out!
Thanks, Kit!
I agree, the black is certainly worth checking out! I tried it for the first time at work today and was blown away at how long it lasted without any smudging.
Well.. This is something worth trying… I’ll buy one the next time I visit my sephora store =D
that blue shade is the perfect blue to whiten the eye! i had an e/s like that once and it was perfect!
I too absolutely love how easy the application is for these, and tested the colors out on my hand at the store and were also hoping they would turn out much brighter…maybe under a white base….I just stuck with the basic black and am so clumsy with normal liquid liner, that this is becoming one of my favorites…it is definitely waterproof and smudgeproof as described, I was just hoping the colors would be as bright as the rest of their line….
I like these shades a lot!
I purchased this in the white because I have been obsessed with white eyeliner lately. I find its the best I have ever purchased! I wasnt sold on the other colors but when they restock the black I will be buying that one as well. Maybe, just maybe, I will get the purple as well. Thanks for the reviews on these colors though, it has me thinking about that blue, dont care for the green.
i’m wearing SANDy (dark forest green) right now. i LOVE IT!
I was “so so” on this product. My problem was that in the middle of lining my second eye, the liner dried out so I had to stop, shake the pen up (to get more ink), and continue with the line. The thing is, the liner (on my eye) dried up so when I continued to wing the line out, it looked crusty and streaky (since I had to go over the first line with another layer of fresh color.) The first eye looked great though!
As for the colors, they’re all pretty muted -which I sort of like (for some colors.) I found the purple to be the least vibrant. Here are swatches for all the colors if you wanted..

I actually LOVED most of the colors. I wanted to get Ciao Ciao next but from my experience, I probably won’t be buying anymore. But I guess the fact that it dries quickly can also be a major plus.
Thanks for the swatches, Kali! 🙂
I’m sorry you didn’t like the product! I didn’t have any of the issues you did (the streaking/drying problem) – so sorry it happened to you 🙁
I’m a complete eyeliner newbie because I have relatively prominent hoods so I don’t have much space between my lashes and my crease when my eyes are open. I’ve always felt that putting a line in there makes my eyes look weird. All I can say is: I LOVE these liners!
I have the dark blue (Arlecchino) and dark green (SANDy) and just ordered the periwinkle one with the Sephora coupon (Ciao Ciao). The blue and green really help make my brown eyes stand out without being over the top (though if you work at a very conservative place, the darker colors may still be too much for you).
The tips of these liners make it super easy for a newbie like me to get a nice, beautiful, tapered line. The tips are bi-directional: one way, you get a pretty fine tip, and if you rotate them 90 degrees, you’ll get a flatter and wider surface perfect for filling in a little cat eye triangle or creating the thicker parts of the liner.
Anyway, I highly recommend checking them out in the store if you get a chance!
was super surprised at how great these worked because I literally just bought these for the packaging!!! I have the dark blue one. IMO it and the black ones are the only good ones if ur buying them for color intensity and just overally how pretty it looks and pops on the eye. I wanted to love the purple one but its almost plummy and burgandy rather than purple so I passed. But def. agree these are great as a product but colors suck…but who cares theyre sooo freakin cute!
I have Ciao Ciao and it looks kinda silly unless you make the line really thin. I agree the applicator is the best, but they are SOOO matte, and I don’t like that in a liquid liner. They are super waterproof and Sephora states that they can also be used to draw fake tattoos.
ehhh i tried these out and i don’t like them very much. the color pay off wasn’t as great as the photos shown here, although they do stay on pretty well. it kinda reminded me of just a color marker over all.
the staying power is insanely good–liking the dark blue one best
I just tried these and they weren’t waterproof at all. In an hour it was running down my face
I’m not sure that they’re supposed to be waterproof – long-wearing and waterproof are definitely two different things!
I’m pleasantly surprised to find you had done a review on these! I’m currently lusting… all of the perfetto eyeliners. Very funky. A little disappointed the green isn’t brighter.
omg i want the ciao ciao
Well i just wanted to day that it can also be used as a pen to create body art!
