The Summer Season: Milani Mandarina Lipstick
The Summer Season: Milani Mandarina Lipstick
Milani Mandarina Lipstick ($4.99 for 0.13 oz.) is a vibrant, tangerine-orange with a glossy sheen and completely opaque color. This is not an orange for the faint of heart! This is a bold, unabashedly orange lipstick. The best part of this lipstick is how truly pigmented it is–trust me, I was impressed upon swatching at just how opaque the color is on lips. It lasts about three hours on me, but it fades evenly enough that it’s not a big deal when it does. I wish the scent was a little less synthetic/waxy–even just vanilla would work for me. Otherwise, the intense color pay off and creamy look and feel of the formula is well worth the five dollar price tag.
Is this the right orange lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.
It’s a really beautiful colour, I just don’t know if I’ll ever wear it outside my home!
This is a great color! And id DOES seem so pigmented! *-*
xx
I’m not into orange-coral shades. This one is too bright for me 🙂
even though its not my color, its amazing coverage and finish on you Christine. =)
Christine, is there ANYTHING that looks bad on you? You rock every single thing you swatch! If I tried, I’d look like a clown, you however, continue to look FIERCE.
Purples!
Orange suits you surprisingly well!
MAC should have had THAT with Liberty of London instead of that blah orange (it SO didn’t compare to the others in the collection in terms of color payoff and texture). this is very pretty! 🙂
Aahh! Why oh why can’t Milani be available where I live? I would buy everything I could get my sticky little hands on. Oh, to have this lipstick topped off with Miss Dynamite Dazzleglass. Or Chanel Sungold or Gold Light glossimer. Le sigh.
Oooo, that WOULD look amazing with Miss Dynamite!
I love this shade Christine. Thanks for highlighting it.
Wow, that has much better coverage than I’d expect for the price! Very nice. 🙂
WOW I love it!
it looks awesome on u!!! i dunno if i’ll be able to pull that off… maybe in FOTD’s but I’d like to try it coz u sold it good… =).. do u mind tellin me what ur secret is to your soft, smooth lips?? coz when I do lipstick swatches it doesn’t look as smooth as yours… do u apply a base first?? please please let me know… =) thanks!

i love this color on your christine, but not on me!
So pretty!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
im really starting to love milani products because of you. it seems like quality lipstick thats super cheap. this color however, i probably wouldnt use. i tend to stray from anything with a tiniest hint of orange.
Can Milani products be purchased in Canada, if so, where?
Thanks xx – orange looks fab on you!
I’m not sure — I’d check their website, http://www.milanicosmetics.com.
the maxi and company by my house sells a bit of their products, but not everything. that is the only place i have seen them
Wow – I feel like having a orange creamsicle. Thanks for giving me that summer vibe that I so needed!
Lovely colour & texture!
Where can you purchase this at?
Drugstores like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc.
As soon as I read the name “Mandarina” I had my fingers crossed just hoping it would be bright orange – and it is! YAY!
That’s such a pretty color. I wish I could look good in bright lipsticks.
I usually steer well clear of orange on my face but that just looks so … luscious!
The application looks perfect! I don’t know if that’s just your skill or if it’s the lipstick itself (or a combination of both) but boy, that looks HOT!
I wish we had Milani here…
Holy cow! Where has this color been all my life???
Oh! The face pic is totally helpful! 😀
And I love how pigmented it is!
Milani is really impressing lately!
WOW!!! That is beautiful but too bright for me:) I would be too self conscious wearing it out in public.LOL
great color, so pigmented!
This kind of color look great on you… i mean..c’mon, why do they look ‘strange’ to say the least on me? it’s not fair 😛
If this style Milani formula did not make me want to hurl, I would grab it up in a minute. I have a few of those gold cap colors (which are TOTALLY gorgeous) and no matter how hard I try, I can not make myself endure them- they make me start to hurl, and I have to take them off. 🙁
Aww! I didn’t find the scent too bad — didn’t notice it at all once it was *on* my lips. Wish it didn’t bother you so!
I probably would never wear this color BUT it looks amazing on you and the formula seems great. I might have to check other colors from Milani.
That lipstick looks ahmaziiing on you!!! I want to try it 🙂
This shade is gorgeous!!!!So true, opaque and bright!!!! It SAYS TROPICAL SUMMER allover!!! I’m really attracted to this shade even though I am not used to wearing them… The price for this shade is a bargain!!!!
Is a must, must, must….
Thanx Christine!!!
That color is too orange for me maybe if it was a pumpkin shade or a burnt orange something like that I might.
This is truly a lovely orange colour for your lips!
Christine have you tried Milani’s (Grape Tini) lipstick ? I love wearing that shade.
Nope!
*picks up jaw of floor* That is a beautiful color!!!!!!!!! Five bucks even better!
I love that color and it looks great on you. I think it really brings out your glow. I’ll have to try out some of Milani’s lippies.
Thanks, Kelly!
Meh. Normally I marvel at how white your teeth are and this makes them look way more yellow then they seem in all the other pictures.
I agree. They look really bad.
Love, love oranges, corals colors and this one is not bad, specially because is not expensive maybe I’ll but it.
what goes good with this neutral eyes?
thanks, Christine awesome as always!!
Neutral eyes or golds 😀
This color is amazing. Im so going out to get this!
I LOVE THIS COLOUR!!! I THINK IT WOULD LOOK STRANGE ON ME, BUT YOU REALLY ROCK IT!! YOU MAKE ME THINK OF A FLAMINCO DANCER WITH THAT COLOUR. UBER SEXY. 🙂
Voted love it cause I loved it on you..
But I’m not sure it would fit on me… So yeah I’m not really sure I could wear it.
What a bright, pigmented lipstick! And it’s cheap! I don’t know if cheap brands are good though >.>
Thanks for choosing a lower end product! I am so intimidated by all of these Chanel and Guerlain picks, which I really cannot afford. Does Milani have any great soft natural pink lippies?
No clue, this is my first one!
Im really diggn this color alot..you think it would look good on big lips??
Yes!
Do you think that this color is comparable to Morange from MAC? It seems more tangerine and less orange ( I don’t know why I think in food)
I’d say it’s lighter – I don’t own M’Orange (I wanted to buy it recently but they were sold out!) – but it doesn’t seem quite as dark/deep.
I just bought this recently because of your post… And I love it!! Thanks for sharing!
YAY! So happy you are loving it!!
u made me do it ! i actually wore this outside my house and i have never gotten more compliments in my life ! i absolutely love this color !
lol!
wow, pretty cool 🙂 next to your swatch of MAC Morange it looks soo close!
Woah! That looks awesome and for sucha low price! Thanks this really helped I’m going out to buy this
I’m getting this tomorrow. I’m saving for IMATS in NY next year and want Neon Orange from MAC Pro, but this will hold me over until I go there!
Would this look good on someone with warm undertones??
Yes! 🙂
I’m not one for drugstore makeup, but I just recently decided I want to rock the orange lip look next week, and since I don’t live close to a Sephora or MAC, I’m going to go buy this for the time being! It looks very pigmented and I’m going to give it a try!
I just purchased this lipstick because I was looking for a super bright orange lipstick and this is it! Being an African-American woman with golden undertones makes it easy to pull off wearing a color like this. I absolutely love it! It did not last very Lon on me when worn alone (close to 2 hours) but for the $5 I paid for it, I’m ok with re-applying.
