The Spring Season: Lancome Voile de Rose Lipstick

Lancome Voile de Rose L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick ($29.00) is a creamy, medium pink with warmer undertones. I almost didn’t include it as part of the Spring Season, just because it’s the pink is a little more amped up than I was originally thinking, but I couldn’t resist — the color is really such a lovely shade of pink. L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks apply like a dream; soft, creamy, and moisturizing. The color is opaque and clings to lips without being drying. Lancome’s L’Absolu Rouge is definitely one of my favorite lipstick formulas to apply.

Is this medium pink the one for you? Would you wear it?

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Lancôme has the best pink shades, give a try to Color Fever Lipstick in Rose Explosion, basically it’s the same shade than this one, but slightly lighter and with a more glossy finish.

Pretty, I love pink lipsticks. This colour looks similar to one of the Guerlain Rouge G ( or at least close enough to me) and it is a better price point too! I would definitely whip out colours like these a lot for the spring.

oh no christine… you are going to KILL me with this spring season thing. i already have all 4 shades on my “must buy soon” list. LOVE this color from lancome, so glad you showcased it!

Rose Avatar

That is INSANELY pretty! I’ve been looking for a pink that isn’t too light for my fair skin. I don’t know if I’d shell out $29 for it though… Any good dupes?

Katie Avatar

I’m thinking I might have to get this one. It’s beautiful, and warm! I’m always looking for posts on warmer pinks since cool ones tend to look odd on me.

This seasonal lipcolor series is such a wonderful addition to the website! I’m ALMOST so excited for you to get to fall that I want to hibernate through the spring and summer… ALMOST!

Yeah… Probably not. LOL! But I’m excited anyway!!! 🙂

Christine Avatar

Haha!

It’s kind of funny, because for spring, everything is a little softer. Even this is a little brighter than I was thinking, but like I said, irresistible. It’s like, “How can I hold off posting about this lovely shade until summer?” (Of course, I’ll repost it come summer, too, haha!) Summer is going to be bright corals and pins… maybe some oranges, bronzes, and flashy purples thrown in. Fall, right now, I’m thinking berries and plums, maybe a few browner shades as well. I have not a clue what to do for holiday/winter. Maybe vamps, but we’ll see. Now’s the time for your input and suggestions, though 😉

Gorgeous, but likely too expensive. It’d probably be close to 35 bucks here in Canada; I’m not willing to pay that much for something like that!

Rosie Avatar

I like this one the most out of the ones featured so far because it’s the most opaque and seems to sit best on your lips. It’s really pretty too, I’m glad you did feature it :).

Ross Avatar

OMG I love this pink!!! Actually I was about to buy ming from chanel but this color is gorgeous!I hope it’s available on the Italian market.

I am officially loving this new series, it is right up my alley, as it probably is for many others.

You are killing my pocketbook Christine!

It’s pretty, but I have bought several pink shades of Guerlain’s G lipsticks, including Gentiane and Gabrielle, so I will skip this. I have just realised I don’t actually own any Lancome lipsticks – only lipglosses. Better not start collecting them as well as Guerlain though, lol.

I absolutely love this lipstick and would have purchased it a long time ago if it wasn’t for the fact that it isn’t sold in Europe. 🙁

Marta Fernandes Avatar

From what I was told some shades are exclusive to the US/Canada and others are exclusive to Europe. It seems Voile de Rose is a US exclusive.

hey Chistine, plz do me favor, can ulz look at your lancome -voile de rose lipstick and tell me its shade number??Here at my lancome counter they ask for numbers and cant find it by name

Jennifer Avatar

omg It’s like the perfect pink (for me anyways) 🙂 I can never have too many pretty pink lipsticks/glosses, so I’m loving the spring picks.

Arianne Avatar

Grrr… first the scarlet season… then spring season! I have a strong feeling that my lipstick collection will grow very quickly if I keep reading this series.

Translation: the lipsticks have been really nice so far. 😀

Alix Avatar

I didn’t know Lancome lippies had gotten so pricey. And they *used* to smell like vanilla — what do they smell like now? Lovin’ the color…

Lana Avatar

the color is so pretty!! do you put a primer or use lip balm before you put on your lipstick in these pictures? i really want to get the sara habb lip scrub. 🙂

Nora Avatar

Wow, this colour is gorgeous.
Just wondering – how does it compare to MAC’s Crosswires? The colour looks really similar – at least on my monitor – and since I already have it I want to know before I rush out and buy it. 🙂 Thanks.

Emily Avatar

I am so confused! I bought this color today after seeing it here and it looks SO different! Not just on my lips but the color itself isn’t even close to the same. It is a brownish medium to dark pink and looks nothing like these photos! Do you think I got a dud?

Christine Avatar

OK, that is really weird! Brownish medium dark pink? Hmm. Have you swatched it yet? It’s definitely brown on me… very medium pink with a little rosy kick, but not dark or brown!

I even double-checked to make sure I didn’t mislabel or anything, but it’s Voile de Rose L’Absolu Lipstick.

I just tried it on again and my last description was a bit off! It looks more like a sheer red with a hint or orange lip stain or something! I tried to take a picture but it looks pink on camera- go figure! It looks gorgeous on you though (I must have a dud!). I’m going to go check out another tomorrow and see how it is. Thanks Christine!

Lorna Avatar

i like this color because it is so warm and natural. i know lancome is still sort of high end but i never thought their l/s were more expensive than MAC’s or NARS. they are reaching up into YSL rouge volupte territory.

Samantha Avatar

This color is stunning. I might have to get it. This one, and Chanel Ming Rouge Allure Laque. I loved the Scarlet Season, and I have a feeling that I’ll love the Spring Season. My bank account is going to hate it, though.

A lot of really superb lipsticks have ‘Rouge’ in the name, I’ve noticed:
YSL Rouge Volupte
Guerlain Rouge G
Chanel Rouge Allure and Rouge Allure Laque
Lancome L’Absolu Rouge
There are probably more that I’ve either forgotten or haven’t heard of.

Hannah Avatar

I wouldnt trust any makeup of ebay.

Mac especially!!

Ive been lucky and have managed to get a few authentic bits off there.

But most of it are copies.

Extremely good copies at that!! The only way I could tell the difference was because the box opened up the wrong way!

Christine Avatar

Yeah, it has a rosy scent, though maybe not as heavy as some of the other formulas, but heavy enough. Rouge G lipsticks are fairly scented (not as much as KissKiss, though), but it’s more of sweet scent… just a heads up!

It’s similar, maybe not a perfect dupe, but definitely similar!

ChauDM Avatar

On my lips this color actually turns more coral and it looks more opaque than in the swatch – I honestly prefer what I see here than on my lips 🙁 but it’s not too bad, luckily this color on my is quite unique compare to other lipsticks in my collection, I never have any coral-ish shades
