The Scarlet Season: Urban Decay Gravity Lipstick
The Scarlet Season: Urban Decay Gravity Lipstick
Urban Decay Gravity Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a rich, ruby-esque shade of red with maybe a little tinge of raspberry in it. It has a very soft microsparkle of red, but overall, it has a creamy, glossy finish. All of Urban Decay’s lipsticks have a faint sweetened caramel brulee kind of scent, though I don’t find much taste in the lipsticks from my experience. Gravity applies easily and leaves lips hydrated, with the color wearing four to six hours easy. I’d say this is definitely one of my favorite shades I’ve discovered so far during the series.
What about you? Would you wear this red?
The Scarlet Season is a series of posts showcasing and featuring my favorite shades of red lips–from glosses to lipsticks that runs through December 2009. You can sure expect to see a lot of red this holiday season!

Look muy pretty. I little too orange for me but gorgeous
Too bad it’s too orange for you!
wow. This is my favorite so far. The other lipsticks were beautiful as well, but this one is gorgeous!
Glad you liked it, Eden! Are you going to check it out?
this lipstick was one of the many i ordered during the urban decay friends and family sale. i can’t wait to get it and try it out! it looks so pretty!
Yayy!! Hope you love it 🙂
This is so beautiful, I love this kind of red, I have to try this when I next go shopping. 🙂
Ohh, do try! Let me know if it works out!
Great color! I may have to get this tomorrow or sometime later on. Glad it’s not limited edition =)
🙂 Definitely trying to do both LEs and permanents — whatever I can get my hands on, LOL!
i love urban decay lipsticks i have midnight cowboy and use timothy pocket over it and it gives a nice beigy brown shade! do you have any more urban deacy reviews in the pipeline ?? Binnie X
I haven’t see Midnight Cowboy yet! I do have a few–not too many yet. I expect more in the spring 🙂
This color looks really good on you. I think i’ll give it a try too…hopefully i can rock it just as well :)!!!
Thanks, Roxy! I hope you like it!
This red is pretty too, I like the slight sheerness to it, but at the same time it has decent pigmentation.
Agreed!
Why do all of the Urban Decay lipsticks have to be so pretty? Lol, I have a sample of Gash (which I love) but I don’t know if I want to shell out $22 a lipstick. Plus, I dont like the little dagger at the bottom of the tube. But this color, Revolution, Sellout, and Jilted are sooo pretty that I would never be able to choose just one!
LOL! Maybe because they totally reformulated and went back to the drawing board–at least in a sense–a few years ago!
I think the dagger is fun at first, but it’s impractical. You can’t stand it up so you can see the name (which is on the “top” of the lipstick–the flat side), and you can’t stand it up on the dagger… eh it’s pretty or creative but not so functional!
hi christine! i am now a temptalia junkie and you’ve also gotten me obsessed with glitter nailpolish… i literally just walked by a nail salon and swooned over the opi holiday collection. there are some BEAUTIFUL reds and very unique purples and browns. would love to see your reviews. i bought four!
Aww! Happy to have you here, Yvette 🙂
I’ll have to see if I can check ’em out, thanks for the heads up!
Oooh, I’ll have to check this out! It looked like it would be sheer, but it’s perfect coverage!
I hope you like it when you see it, Maria!
Very Pretty! It reminds me of a nail polish color i used to have….
Ohh, any idea what polish?
very nice in the tube but it looks fairly sheer on the skin. does that make it more wearable and buildable?
though this was going to look better, but too light, not my favorite of the bunch.
Aww 🙁
Okay, so I’ve seen two reviews of this color on youtube now, I wasn’t able to swatch it at my Sephora since it was out for the tester and they didn’t have it in stock. But, people complained about Gravity having a weird, bitter taste, did you notice that at all?
I didn’t notice any particularly off taste, to be honest, but I don’t really lick my lips a lot either, you know? I generally don’t even know what a lipstick/gloss tastes like… unless I review it, because then I try to make sure I “taste” it at least once.
Okay so I’ve read you’re warmer toned. I’m cooler toned, do you think this would still work or Revolution?
Yes, I do 🙂
I was hoping it’d be more opaque =/
Aw, seems pretty opaque to me–maybe it’s just the glossiness?
Oooh, that looks so pretty in the tube… that it’s a little disappointing on the lips, actually!
LOL! Aww!
Uhh I really like it. Are you going to feature “MAC Red” in your “scarlet season”?
Yes, I will be! Well, I think — I bought several permanent red lipsticks last week, but I can’t remember if they were sold out of MAC Red or not… or if I have it, lol.
awww i’m excited 🙂 you rock!
I bought it but unfortunately what looked like a beautiful red on my computer turned out to be more burgundy when I received it. I can still make it work though by layering a lighter gloss over it. The shade it ok if you are into the dark shades but it’s not what I consider “red.” If you are looking for Christmas/Santa Claus red I’d take a pass on this one.
I didn’t notice any strange taste like someone mentioned.
Oh no! I’m really sorry it wasn’t as red as you thought 🙁
I totally ordered this from my F&F sale at UD. can’t wait to get it! 😀
Christine is always making me spend money. lol. -_-‘
