The Best & Worst of Huda Beauty Lip Strobes

Huda Beauty Lip Strobe
Huda Beauty Lip Strobe

Huda Beauty Lip Strobe ($18.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is supposed to be “sheer to full coverage” depending on the shade and can be worn “alone or layered.” Per the brand, the semi-sheer shades are: Posh, Enchanting, Ritzy, Snobby, Shameless (sheer base), Mystical, and the full-coverage shades are: Boujee, Saucey, Foxy, Fearless, Moody (Angelic’s coverage was not described). The formula has a lightweight feel, lightly creamy as it goes on initially but has a lightly tacky texture overall. The gloss spread well across the lips and had fairly even coverage with minimal settling. The wear ranged from four to five hours with a lightly moisturizing feel. There was a faint, sweet vanilla scent but tasted a bit soapy to me.

I really enjoyed the way these looked on the lips, but the taste is a deal-breaker for me, personally. Fearless and Angelic are the two I’d consider wearing again but only if I wasn’t expecting to eat/drink much.

Thank you so much for this review! I have quite a few of these on my wish list, and I’m glad they perform well. Shameless and Boujee are my favorite! I’m glad there’s a good holo gloss after how disappointing the Becca ones turned out!

Super helpful round-up, Christine! I have been wondering if you would think about doing a comparison post of all of these strobe/glitter/top coat products that have come out lately. I’m thinking of these, the Kevin Aucoin, the UD, the Bite, and maybe the Becca? I could be missing something. It just seems like SO MANY of these types of lip products have hit the market this year and I’m really struggling to figure out the best place to spend my money.

Other than UD’s Vice Top Coats (which I did not like, so obviously I would not recommend them!), the rest are just lipgloss by another name, so they’re nothing new! If you already have sparkly/shimmery gloss, you’re partaking in the “topper” trend. 🙂 It will ultimately come down to color/texture/opacity preferences, IMO!

These took me by storm! So many wound up on my WL: Foxy, Moody, Saucy, Shameless, Angelic, Boujee, Mystical, and Fearless. 8 in all!

Then I noticed the part where you mentioned the “soapy” taste. I’ve had some lipglosses in the past, even one or two now, that have that taste. Not a 100% deal breaker for me, but I will go in slower. Will try 2 shades to begin with and see if it’s too bothersome before going full hog on these.
