This may be mermaid, but it can also be seen simply as a sea motif, and totally appropriate for summer. If you are a coastal dweller (like those of us who will be massively flooded tomorrow, lol) this fits right in with the scallop/clam/ starfish/sailorβs knot/lighthouse themes that everyone wears all summer. The case, layout, and shade selections are adult, not preteen. Some jewel tones as well as warm, all finishes. This is on trend without pandering. Personally, I probably have no interest, but fully approve!
Very well said.
I also think it’s an interesting offering, but as I look at it, it seems like about one third of the shades have a too-close alternative in the palette. I’m curious how they swatch.
Hmm, I felt the opposite. It seems really sparkly. Maybe it’s more pulled back in store? Also would have liked to seen more turquoises and blues. Those warm colors just refuse to take a break. I agree the case is cute, but that isn’t something I consider in my purchase.
There really aren’t any shades in this palette that I need or want. But the clamshell case…I totally LOVE it!!!!
Need to talk myself out of buying it or I’ll wind up with yet another palette that looks pretty on my makeup table, but just gathers dust.
Too bad no one sells empty magnetic palettes that are this cute. No one that I know of anyway…
If it was a double mirror compact (regular and 5x) I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it for my purse!
They could make a lot of money if they did!!
Don’t do it!! Lol, talking to myself too!
These pan shapes are terrible, but the overall palette design is a cute idea.
ooo! Love the packaging on this!
I’m pretty sure I will order this before the day is over. They have some looks on the Sephora page that look really gorgeous. I generally like Tarte’s eyeshadows. The case is really pretty. I bought the creamy metallic one and have used it once even though it is sitting right in plain view. Now that one has a case that is to die for! The shadows are really pretty too.
OMG I want it but I’m waiting for your review first in case it’s like the Buried Treasure palette lol
I am awaiting the review too! lol. i didn’t like the buried treasure one either
Tarte did quite a nice job with this packaging. Very creative and clever. Nice useable shades, too. Unfortunately, however, I’m still very upset with the brand as a whole due to their Shape Tape Foundation shade selection that showed an unbelievable lack of dark and deep shades. This is still quite a sore spot.
I wonder if this palette shares any similarities with the Make Believe in Yourself palette? Because if the shades are just close enough I could pass, but I don’t want to.
Tarte has really disappointed me lately as a brand and I don’t want to give them any more of my money (in fact, my Shape Tape ran out and I went back to my NARS RCC) but oh man, this is just so pretty and I want it so badly. If my convictions give out on me I might just get it…after Tarte inevitably puts it on sale.
Now here’s a version of the mermaid trend I can get behind! I love a good pun for a shade name, and I like the colour choices – I hope they perform well.
I LOVE mermaids (and collect them) but I have yet to see anything mermaid-inspired in makeup that has attracted me. This could easily just be called a Seashell palette lol
Dang you, Tarte, for making me want this. I want to see swatches first, and see whether the formula is good.
With Too Faced’s Unicorn palette and now Tarte with their mermaid one, there seems to be some competition here with the themes.
Interesting shades, but I am not a fan of the shape of the pans.
Not into these colors but I love anything ocean/beach themed – cute!
I keep coming back to the idea that those pan shapes are going to be a problem at some point. I just returned a palette, in part, because the design shape turned out to be annoying to use and work a brush into.
This looks as good as last years unicorn collection. Iβll have to swatch and see reviews but this has potential.
I just decluttered two Tarte palettes yesterday, I do not need this. But I LOVE the packaging! And it looks like its similar to the Tartlette and In Bloom formulas, vs the Rainforest of the Sea shadows? If so, this will be hard to resist.
Cute! I don’t buy palettes but this really catches my eye!
Will mermaids replace unicorns??? This looks so pretty that I’m totally willing to overlook the wasted space, some colours that are too unflattering on me and the fact that I absolutely do not need or even want this palette. It sure looks NICE! I’d be a really happy camper if, in keeping with this “mermaid” idea, they would re-release the Aqualillies for Tarte palette from quite a few years ago now. I love some of the shadows in that palette and despair of finishing them up.
Never tried Tarte eye shadows so very interested in this but will wait for swatches and possibly the review. Itβs adorable!
It’s cute. I might be into it.
Definitely not interested as I’m boycotting anything related to mermaids, unicorns, and fairies, but visuals aside (it’s actually very aesthetically pleasing) I think this would have been a better palette with just the bottom six color plus Sandbar and maaaaayyybe Frose.
Can someone please find dupes for the individual shades? I like these colours yet the pan shape is terrible π
I purchased this palette having fallen in love with the packaging and rose gold colors (which is the majority of the palette), the only pops of color being the bottom three shades. I am super disappointed in the performance of this product. While the colors are gorgeous, they fade really easily, even with a primer. Having never used Tarte on my eyes before, I had no idea what I was getting into. Needless to say, I wonβt be purchasing Tarte again. I hope this review helps someone.
