What popular perfume didn't live up to the hype for you?

I’m not sure that there really is one. I don’t know that I’ve come across a perfume that feels like it’s just a really poor quality scent so much as I didn’t love the notes. I’m too much of a perfume novice to weigh in here, I think.

What fragrances lived up to their hype?

I ended up loving Maison Margiela Replica By the Fireplace (though I haven’t enjoyed any other scents I’ve tried from the brand) and Le Labo Santal 33, both of which are very, very popular mainstream scents.

What was the last perfume you didn't like?

What was the last perfume you didn't like?

Fresh Rose Morning Eau de Parfum, which I only bought because I love the scent of Fresh’s rose skincare, and this is so “perfumey” to me… not like fresh roses at all.

Pierre Guillaume Paris Coze 02. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH but it is only an eau de toilette, so I feel like I’ll go through the whole bottle in a few months because I end up using five or six sprays, lol! I love spraying it on my sheets, too.

How important is the packaging for a perfume?

How important is the packaging for a perfume?

I just prefer a perfume I can spray on, rather than roll or dab, so that’s my only requirement. I find I don’t like most perfume bottles anyway, so packaging has become a nonfactor outside of functionality.

How or where do you apply fragrance?

How or where do you apply fragrance?

I typically apply the most to my neck/chest area, getting some on my clothes as well. I’ve been trying to spray more on my arm/wrist area after moisturizing.

How do you test a perfume to decide if you like it?

How do you test a perfume to decide if you like it?

If the composition is really not up my alley, I tend to know within three to four hours from the first wear, which I normally spray on my left arm/wrist (I tend to go topside because I spend a lot of my day typing, so the underside of my wrist rubs against my wrist pad). If I like it but am not sure...

Do you change your fragrance by the season (or temperature)?

Do you change your fragrance by the season (or temperature)?

There are definitely some scents that feel heavy for a really, really hot day if I was going to be outdoors, but since I live my life primarily indoors, I don’t find I limit by season so much in practice.
