What are your travel must-haves?

What are your travel must-haves?

I cycle between taking my custom Make Up For Ever XL palette (lots of bronzes, taupes, a few pops of color), Viseart Paris Nudes, and last time I traveled, I took a custom 8-pan Anastasia palette. My must-haves are lip balm, a good lipstick or gloss, my go-to makeup brushes (I’ll put them in the...

What order do you apply your makeup in?

What order do you apply your makeup in?

I try to do eyes first, in case there’s serious fall out, then it’s easy to remove. In general, if I use primers, then I’d put those down first (for all areas!). I start with lightest to dark shades on the eye, then brow bone, eyeliner, and lower eyeshadow (if I use it), followed by mascara...

How do you figure out what colors are flattering on you?

How do you figure out what colors are flattering on you?

A repeat from yesterday, but trial and error will go a long way! The skin can be so nuanced in tone, clarity, and color, so there are always things like warmer tones tend to work better on warmer skin tones that can work as a guideline, but you might find that true yellow undertones make you sallow...

How do you decide what colors go well together?

How do you decide what colors go well together?

I think trial and error is the biggest one for me. It’s just trying things out and over time, learning what works better/worse to my eye/preferences. You can also look at other people’s looks for inspiration and see what combinations seem to pair well, and once you try them, you’ll have a...

What is the worst makeup advice you’ve been given?

I think the worst is when people tell you, without you asking, that something doesn’t look good on you – it’s one thing when I ask or if it’s coming from my BFF of all time (maybe), but sometimes I’ll like the way something looks on me, even when others don’t, and it always makes me feel...

Which products(s) do you have a love/hate relationship with and why?

Which products(s) do you have a love/hate relationship with and why?

Foundation — I love the way my skin looks more even with foundation, but getting a good formula and a good shade match is so, so frustrating sometimes.

How do you keep your lipstick and/or from feathering?

How do you keep your lipstick and/or from feathering?

For me, lip liner is usually all that is necessary! There are also some lip primers on the market that may help! Reverse lip liner can be useful (clear lip liner placed outside the actual lip line). 🙂

Does anybody ever feel overwhelmed by their collection?

Does anybody ever feel overwhelmed by their collection?

Not often, but I’m not usually faced with it on a day-to-day basis in the sense of having to use it, since I am usually testing something new. I think the key is good organization in a system that works for you, because this makes it easy for me to know where things are and can easily grab what...
