How do you decide when it's time to let a product go?

How do you decide when it's time to let a product go?

If I don’t like it or find it frustrating to use, I don’t bother at all. There are too many great products in my stash to deal with products that perform poorly! Otherwise, if it smells different, looks off, etc. then I’ll toss.

Do you keep a wish list? How do you use your wish list?

Do you keep a wish list? How do you use your wish list?

I don’t keep a written down wish list; I have a running list in my brain of what products are releasing and an idea of which ones I’ll be purchasing in advance.

Do you keep track of what you own?

Do you keep track of what you own?

To a degree, yes, since I have a digital record of everything I review and so I do periodic inventory to have a general idea of the total value.

What are the best ways of cutting through hype on new releases?

What are the best ways of cutting through hype on new releases?

I tend to ignore all fanciful claims, and I’ve see so much that at this point it’s very hard to convince me that what you’re offering is really new and exciting… sometimes, I get more excited about value sets or mini sets. I do enjoy new formulas from brands that have been hitting it out of...

What makes a new release standout for you?

What makes a new release standout for you?

I like seeing a good mix of promotional images, live models/applications, swatches, and a good color story or theme (names and the like). I want to see the product performing well and see shades/finishes that aren’t overdone.

When was the last time you shopped your stash? What did you find?

I recently revisited some Natasha Denona palettes, which I enjoyed reusing! I also recently added back in Hourglass’ Diffused Light.

Have you ever repurchased a palette? If not, is there one you'd repurchase?

Have you ever repurchased a palette? If not, is there one you'd repurchase?

I don’t think so! I could see myself repurchasing Tom Ford’s Nude Dip someday, but I don’t even see dips (ha, ha) in it yet.

Does your makeup routine change from summer to autumn?

Does your makeup routine change from summer to autumn?

Not really! I would say that what products/shades I use varies seasonally based on what brands release and what trends take hold but not so much because I’ve made a choice to embrace certain products/shades/themes personally.

How do you feel about mini sets/kits?

How do you feel about mini sets/kits?

I like them! I think that it takes a long time to finish most products, so being able to try more shades at a lower cost makes more sense to me, but I think this approach makes sense to someone who has a decent collection of products. If you’re more someone who wears one lipstick every day, then...

How do you incorporate cream and liquid eyeshadows into your looks?

How do you incorporate cream and liquid eyeshadows into your looks?

They’re easiest as lid colors or as eyeliner/layering shades over eyeliner. I also like taking more glittery formulas (with less base color) and patting on top of the center of the lid or using as an inner tearduct highlighter.
