How do you feel about mini sets/kits?
I like them! I think that it takes a long time to finish most products, so being able to try more shades at a lower cost makes more sense to me, but I think this approach makes sense to someone who has a decent collection of products. If you’re more someone who wears one lipstick every day, then full-size/value-sized makes more sense. I prefer trios over a vault as it’s easier to use a grouping of shades (say pinks) than all shades in the range for one person.
I LOVE mini sets. The products still last a really long time and they’re usually a fantastic value, especially if you can find them on sale. It also gives the opportunity to try more products.
I love them!! They allow me to have a better chance of finishing lipstick, blush, mascara, and even eyeshadow before they need to be thrown away. I like mini highlighters and don’t even finish them. They also allow me to try colors/products I normally wouldn’t try guilt free.
I like them if the products are a usable size. I noticed when things are just in sample size (e.g. flimsy plastic for powder face products the size of eyeshadow) then I don’t use them at all.
I also feel like mini lipsticks are prone to breaking and feel really stubby—even in my small hands!
I mostly love mini sets. They give me a chance to try different products/shades without making a huge commitment. What I don’t like are mini sets that have products that don’t exist in full-size. MAC’s 2017 holiday mini lipstick set had matte versions of Flat Out Fabulous and Ruby Woo. I would have bought full size versions of these shades in a heartbeat, but they’re only available in Retro Matte, which I dislike, so the minis are all I have.
Love them, because I almost never use up full sizes, but I wish the price would be smaller too (I realize the packaging is a big part of the cost).
I really like them but more for skin care than makeup since makeup kits usually (though not always) contain a few products I wouldn’t use/don’t like. With skincare, though, it’s a great way to sample a few products from a new-to-me line, often at a value price AND the sizes are travel friendly (I’m packing now for 2 weeks away and using some Laniege minis I got in a skin care set; I keep the bottles and refill them from my full sizes)
I’m the opposite: I’m a lot more likely to get a skincare I can’t use in a set than makeup I can’t use.
I actually love them for skincare and hair care, because it takes me a while to go through those products and I can really see if those products are right for me without spending so much. For color cosmetics, I typically pass because i Usually only like 1-2 of the shades included, so I’d rather just buy the 1 or 2 then have a lot more that wouldn’t work for me.
I rarely purchase mini lipsticks. I usually come close to finishing the lipsticks I purchase. But, I love mini palettes. There are certain brands I gravitate toward due to the colors and quality. Plus, they are easier to bring while traveling. I never buy and usually give away, mini mascara, liners, blush and powder.
Minis are everything.
And sets are cool.
I really like them. They’re less expensive, and I rarely use up a full-sized product makeup product. They’re nice for hair and skin care products, too.
With me, it all depends. I appreciate minis of skincare products, as this is part of how I have found some truly excellent HG products that don’t irritate or break my skin out. Eyeshadow mini palettes are not only fun to try out something I might not want a full-size of, but also very portable for t/ups! Same goes for a decent size cheek or lip gloss mini.
BUT; Not many mini lipsticks are easy for me to use, as my lips are on the fuller side. Not a fan of many mascara minis either.
Depends on how big the mini set is. If it’s one or two items I like it bc makeup is so difficult to use up and when I go through a few mascaras I have now, I plan on buying just one or two minis. It’s also nice when you want to try out a brand and you don’t want to commit to the full price on brand your unfamiliar with. For ex I have a mini Cover FX setting powder.
I don’t like huge mini sets that they often roll out during the holidays. Even though mini, it still adds clutter to my collection and I find I only gravitate to one or two things in those massive sets so it’s still a waste for me. So I guess it depends?
I love minis generally but I don’t like makeup sets because it is rare that I want to use everything included, either because it is not a product or color I want or the mini size isn’t workable for me (mascara yes, pencil no). I find skincare sets really useful.
Mini’s are wonderful: providing they are still big enough to use and the same wonderful quality as the full size product. I have a ton of allergies and reactive skin so a smaller size is good for truly testing out products. There are some products that I have no hope of ever finishing before it expires so I like mini versions of those as well! I like to travel too so having mini’s of my favorites is great for easily packing away!
I love mini sets because it is an ideal way to try out a new product or range from a brand that you haven’t used before. Quite often they are less expensive and the mini size allows you to actually finish the products too. The only issue I have with them is that they often contain lipsticks in shades I wouldn’t wear, eg pink. And sometimes brands use this to get rid of products that haven’t sold because they aren’t actually that good.
I really like them in general. I go through makeup products relatively slowly, so the smaller sizes usually work well for me.
The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes the mini sets that come out for the holidays seem to be of lower quality.
I really dislike mini lipsticks mostly because I just can’t keep up with them and always loose them. With shadows and face products I don’t mind as long as I can get my brushes in them easily.
