Swatches: MAC Oh, Sweetie Lipcolours
MAC Oh, Sweetie Lipcolour ($17.50 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition liquid lipstick formula that is available in 15 shades. They are supposed to have a “mousse-like texture” that has “frosted opaque” that is “long-lasting [for] eight hours” while also being hydrated. Each shade is scented based on its name–not MAC’s typical vanilla. They aren’t the traditional type of liquid lipstick that dries down to a matte finish, and they have quite a bit of glossiness and shine until it wears down (from an hour to a few, depending on whether you’ve done anything, e.g. talking or drinking). Here are swatches…
It’s a fun looking collection! I’ve been eyeing a couple, mainly for the packaging, but decided to hold off, as the scent/taste might be too strong, will probably need to check them out in store
Well, Coconut Macaroon, Strawberry Mousse, and Gumdrop are calling me but I need more details on the formula for sure before splurging on one of these.
Me too! Hope these get a review!
Those are my thoughts and stand out colours too!
OK, some of these definitely have my attention!
Sounds like a strange formula. Funfetti Cake reminds me of (but is not duped by) NYX’s Duochromatic gloss in Foam Party… I’d say the NYX is glossier, less white-based, more obviously green-shimmered. And it doesn’t smell like anything, ha ha
I just got Caramel Sugar in the mail today – at first impression I like it a lot. It smells so good (and i’m not going to try to eat it but it also tastes like raw sugar), is totally opaque, looks great on my light-medium neutral-olive skin, feels hydrating and not sticky. Even though I already have some similar bronze lipsticks this one is nice because it’s very shiny and glittery and wet-looking, comparatively. But a lot of the other shades look bad or might only look good on fair skin. I was very tempted by Death by Chocolate but a lot of other reviewers seem to think it smells like a awful fake chocolate. I might try Strawberry Torte later.
Also got the MAC mystery package. Sigh, I really knew I shouldn’t have went for it. While it does have a really high price value, the items are all pretty old and I bet a lot might be discontinued soon. A medium shade BB cream which I bet will piss off light and dark skinned buyers. One lip pencil (Soar) that will look best on white people. 5 matte lipsticks, 2 which are the same color (Mehr), mostly will look good on white people or cool toned dark skin. Or medium tone that like light nudes, which I don’t. Oh well, I guess I can gift or sell them. If you like Mehr, Kinda Sexy, Breathing Fire, Punk Couture, check eBay – it’s probably about to be flooded with them.
These are definitely not for me!
I can see the aesthetic they were going for and I’m sure some people will enjoy it but nope, not even remotely appealing.
I like Death By Chocolate but it’s probably too dark for me – still just might try it!
Some of these look downright delectable! Coconut Macaroni, Purple Panna Cotta, Death By Chocolate, Strawberry Torte and Gumdrop look like some I’m thinking of. But only after reading your reviews for them, that is.
*Macaron. This keyboard gonna drive me bananas!
I love purple lipstick, and I have two that are roughly the same type of shade as Purple Panna Cotta, but they’re both matte, so I love having a shinier version of this shade. I was also tempted by Gumdrop when I saw it here, but it looked way too bright for me in person.
I bought Purple Panna Cotta today on a whim. It’s an interesting formula. The shade is somewhat similar to Men Love Mystery, but with a very fine pearl. It doesn’t dry down, but is not sticky or glossy. It feels closer to MAC’s Cremesheen or Amplified formula than to a lipgloss, which is nice. The scent is sweet and pretty, and although I definitely smell it while I’m wearing it, I don’t taste it, thank goodness, or I’d be eating it off my lips!
Actually, I was just swatching it next to other lipsticks I own, and Purple Panna Cotta is closer in color to ColourPop Ultra Satin Lipstick Molly.
I really wanted the majority of these but I watched a you tube a few days ago and the young woman was tan which in the summer I usually am anyway they just didn’t look great. She felt the same. I kno they said it’s not a gloss but for some reason I keep thinking they will be. Maybe in person they r better.
Check them out! I’m pretty tan and I love these. They aren’t exactly glossy, more pearly. I have 4 of them, Purple Panna Cotta; Strawberry Mousse; Sugar Cookies; and Funfetti Cake, which may not be for everyone as it’s pinkish white. I love them with my tan. I don’t think I would like them as much if I wasn’t tan. I want a few more.
These look pretty interesting. I like how intense the color looks in most of these (other than the green/blues)
Some of these are very pretty, especially Strawberry Torte and Death by Chocolate (which looks kind of similar to my beloved Black Metal Dahlia.)
Speaking of which, the texture sounds similar to Lip Tar (RIP). Are they similar?
They are not like Lip Tars.
I am not sure about these. I have been really loving my L’Oreal Colour Riche Shines and have all but the super pale shades. These appear to pull into lip lines and so I wouldn’t want to wear them without using a pencil or lipstick underneath. Having said that, Death by Chocolate is a beautiful color. Reminds me of the Map To Nirvana shade in the L’Oreal Shines.
I have my eyes on Creamy Peach Pie and Strawberry Torte!
I am so mesmerized by the black background in your photos! I am curious to see if you might share what sorts of equipment you used for photographing these swatches? It really made the clear and white colors pop!
I love these, but is there any difference between Raspberry Pavlova and Raspberry Cream? I clicked on both on the Mac Website and it looked like the picture didn’t even change.
They are different shades.
I’m looking at the Ulta website for these and they seem to have different shade names than what is swatched here. I’m specifically looking for purple panna cotta and they don’t have it but do have a shade named berry cobbler. Are these different shades entirely or is there some naming confusion? I prefer to buy most high end products from Ulta because of the rewards program.
Think Ulta has made an error, as these are the names per MAC, and they’re on MAC’s website and Nordstrom!
Right? And Macy’s too. I’m not chancing anything. I’ll buy them from Nordstrom and/or Macys.
Do they go bad IF left somewhat open? I feel like they have a spoil fruit scent to them, Ulta send them all slightly open, I’m wondering why, and jus the Mac “Oh Sweeties” were all slightly open lid un-tight lose.
I really don’t know – I don’t leave mine open. I doubt that they would be going bad being opened for a short while.
