Sneak Peek Swatches! Charlotte Tilbury & Bobbi Brown Holiday 2019 Palettes

Expect to see more sneak peek swatches in the coming weeks as the holiday season has officially started (at least, for me!). I’ll be trying to get swatches up of the various holiday 2019 collections sooner rather than later and filling in with reviews as they’re ready! Today, I have swatches to share of the new, limited edition Charlotte Tilbury Starry Eyes to Hypnotise Palette and Bobbi Brown’s Luxe Gems Palette.

Charlotte Tilbury Starry Eyes to Hypnotise Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

Charlotte Tilbury Starry Eyes to Hypnotise Eyeshadow Palette ($75.00) is a new, limited edition 12-pan palette that features nine shimmery shades and three matte eyeshadows.  It’s divided into four color groupings, though any combination of the shades could be used.  The palette was available for 24 hours earlier this week, though it’s expected to restock (and my guess is that it was more like “early access” with a full release to come).

Bobbi Brown Luxe Gems Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

Bobbi Brown Luxe Gems Eyeshadow Palette Swatches ($75.00) is a new, Nordstrom-exclusive palette that features seven Luxe Eye Shadows (which is the brand’s more expensive formula). Six of the shades were new to me, while Volcanic is available as a single.

Huh! The Bobbi Brown palette is prettier on the eyes than I expected. It’s more muted than I thought it’d be based on the pans alone, but it’s pretty in a colorful yet subdued one.

CT’s palette looks like it has excellent pigmentation and quality for all but one shade. The inclusion of shades other than warm neutals has me intrigued!

BB’s just has me confused. The shimmery microglitter shades are splendid looking. However, how does one fail at making a basic dark plum-brown matte eyeshadow? For 70+ bucks and only 7 shades, I expect better performance out of it. Yet, the shimmers are out of this world; that TEAL!

I have to be honest and say that I don’t have very many Bobbi Brown e/s. They just aren’t something that has ever appealed to me so I am not familiar with this formula and how it performs. I will be watching closely for a review of this palette. I am frequently blown away by looks that you create, Christine, and have purchased every product for a particular look, based solely on that look. At least two previous looks come to mind. This is another. I am so in love with this look so I am hoping that this reviews well and that it will be my first major shadow purchase from Bobbi Brown.

Thank you for posting the ingredient lists on boxes! I so appreciate it.

The BB ones are shaped/formed so that they remind me of Linda Hallberg’s metallic mysteries palette.

I like the 1-2-3 group organization of the CT one — it looks simple to use. Eyeshadow training wheels. I don’t think I need this one though (and it doesn’t look that unique).

Packaging on the CT palette is stunning… I just wish the inside was a bit more inspiring. I think I have dupes for almost every shade and the palette to me is just not cohesive enough to be useful. The Bobbi Brown one however has me intrigued… I love her textured glittery shades.

Both palettes look pretty good me, a dud or two in each, but lots to love.
I think the CT one is a tad better, more wearable shades and it does seem more cohesive that BB’s.
The reviews will tell the story.
Stunning eye looks Christine.

In the past month or so I have been having difficulty viewing the swatches in the Gallery area. For instance with this CT eyeshadow palette, when I click on the Swatches button (the one under Products) the first 2 or 3 rows will show swatches and the rest stay on Product view. Sometimes they will all go to swatches but will change back to the pan view as quickly as I can scroll down. I suspect the problem may be with my phone, I have used both Samsung and Chrome and it happens with both. I figured I’d give it a shot and ask here, maybe someone else has run into, then solved this problem.

Hi Karen, I’ve experience the same thing from time to time using the swatch tab like the one in this posting, from my phone and a laptop. Usually loading the swatches a second time has pulled them all in. I had no problem with that today.

Yes, there are times when it does work the first or second time I press the swatch button. I would say in about 75% of cases I cannot look at the swatches for a complete palette or collection on the initial page. Of course if I have enough curiosity I can bring up a swatch in other ways, so I do have a work around. I was just hoping I had something set wrong that conflicted with an update tied to my general computer illiteracy and it could be a simple fix 😉
Thanks for your response!

Thank you for the swatches, Christine!! I’ll be waiting for your reviews but really appreciate the early access to some dependable swatches.
I like the CT palette, especially the Dream Glow trio. I didn’t purchase last year’s offering, so don’t have concerns about it being too similar, but wish there was a matte or satin shade for each of the trios.
The Bobbi Brown swatches look nice, and the eye look you did is gorgeous. My favorite color is Black Pearl; I wish it was available as a single. That said, I’ve been disappointed with the last 3-4 BB palettes I’ve purchased (poor pigmentation, dry and patchy application) and promised myself I’d steer clear.

Pretty eye looks but neither will be getting my coin. I have similar colors to the Charolette Tilbury palette. In the Bobbi Brown palette the two mattes look weak.

I’m so happy you’ve gotten quite a lot of the holiday palettes in for swatches!! A great deal of them have caught my eye this year and it’s nice to get a good look at them here. It’s always more accurate than brand photos or youtube videos.

I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Starry Eyes to Hypnotise and I am in love so far. I’ve used the first and third trios, and the looks are just effortless for me and my hooded eyes.

I’m fond of Bobbi Brown’s Luxe eyeshadow singles, and plan to buy the Luxe Gems palette. Descriptions of this palette refer to two previously released shades – one is Volcanic and the other is Incandescent. Incandescent was one of two multi-chrome Luxe shadow singles released in last year’s Camo collection; Jungle (a stunning green/pink) was the other. I’m excited that the vibrant blue looks to be a Luxe Metal shadow, and curious how the Luxe Matte shadows do as this looks to be a new formula. I’ll also be looking at how Volcanic grades as it rated poorly when first reviewed.

Christine! I need the review for the BB palette! I want it sooo bad but I’m afraid to drop so much money without knowing it’s worth it. I need that trusted Temptalia grade, girl. I know it’ll come, I’m just getting trigger happy with this checkout button over here lol

The look you did with the BB palette is absolutely stunning! I could buy the palette just for that look. However it being Nordstrom exclusive makes it a no for me. It would be far too expensive in the end.
The CT palette seems very dupeable, pretty but nothing that gives me a want-feeling.

Bobbi’s second palette to intrigue me, but because I have one from the past that just did do it for me pigment wise, I’m thinking not. And it shows faintly on your eyes compared to ND’s or PMG’s, so at that price, nope.
