- Best brand for splurging?
- Best brand for cheap but great products?
- Best brand for pigmented eyeshadow?
P.S. — Thanks to Leigh for this week’s survey idea!
Skin tone: Very pale with cool undertones.
Best brand for splurging: It kind of depends on product as I would go with Viseart for e/s, Guerlain for finishing powder and Givenchy for lipstick.
Best brand for cheap but great products: Overall, ColourPop and NYX. NYX has a huge range of products and most of them are pretty good. I use their eye liners, white foundation mixer, lippies, primer and eye shadows.
Best brand for pigmented eye shadows: Aforementioned Viseart and Coloured Raine.
I said Givenchy lipstick too. It’s ridiculous. The Rouge Interdit Vinyl formula kills me especially. I only have one, but it has me loving colors I hate on myself in any other finish.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light/ neutral olive
Best brand for splurging? Armani! If I could only use one brand from now on they would have me.
Best brand for cheap but great products? I’m not sure about for makeup, but for cheap but awesome skin products you can’t go wrong with South Korean brands – Missha, My Beauty Diary (I think they are a Vietnamese company though), TonyMoly, Mizon, Skinfood, and COSRX are all great places to start because they have well made products and are very reasonably priced.
Best brand for pigmented eyeshadow? Eh…overly pigmented shadow isn’t great for me so I try to avoid…I guess Urban Decay?
I’m just learning to love Armani!
In my most recent order from Sephora I got a sample size of Armani Lip Maestro in #400. It’s absolutely beautiful and the texture is so velvety. It is on my future splurge list for when my tiny sample runs out. Fortunately, I don’t wear bright red very often, so this might last awhile. Also on my future splurge list is Armani Sí perfume, which was another sample I received from Sephora in the same shipment., and I’m using it up fast!
Your skin tone/coloring: Porcelain
Best brand for splurging? BITE, Illamasqua, Farmacy.

Best brand for cheap but great products? I always end up going for Loreal but ELF and WNW are great too
Best brand for pigmented eyeshadow? Lorac, hands down
Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral, MAC NC20
Best brand for splurging? This is a really difficult question. Right now there are three products by three different brands that I really, really want to splurge on, but I’m controlling myself (Pat McGrath LuxeTrance lipstick, Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick, and KVD Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette). But if I had to pick an overall brand to splurge on, I think it would be Urban Decay because they make so many different products that I love. I might change my mind in five minutes, but as of this moment, that’s my answer.
Best brand for cheap but great products? Colourpop
Best brand for pigmented eyeshadow? I haven’t tried many of the high-end brands that are mentioned so often on Temptalia, such as Viseart and Huda, so I can only judge the ones I’ve used. I would have to go with Kat Von D, because the Shade & Light palette is so wonderful to work with, and also because the Saint & Sinner palette seems so amazing (I swatched it in the store this weekend. I would have given in to temptation, but it was sold out).
Your skin tone/coloring: fair warm ~NC10, blue eyes, light brown hair w/copper highlights
Best brand for splurging? Viseart as a whole brand. By product type — SK-II for select skincare items; Cle de Peau for concealer; Chanel for lips; NARS for blush.

Best brand for splurging? Givenchy, but I’ve only ever tried the lip products. Maybe NARS for all around.
Best brand for cheap but great products? I don’t know any DS brands well enough to recommend a whole line. Revlon makes killer lipsticks, but I don’t think $8 or whatever is all that cheap considering you can’t try it on first. I swore by Wet n Wild liquid liner (non-waterproof, brush applicator) until developing watery eyes.
Best brand for pigmented eyeshadow? Sugarpill for matte brights. MAC for all around-they’ve got their misses for sure but the range is so vast they probably have whatever you need and some of their shadows are absolutely perfect IMHO. I keep thinking about UD, but they seem to have shifted mostly to palettes and the quality can be really hit and miss. Honorable mention to Nakeds 1-3 for metallic browns.
Coolish lt to med, prob red undertones. KGD013. Most foundations are overtly yellow, even on the ‘cool’ side. Splurge: Viseart, but on sale, it’s not way bad. Will splurge on a Pat l/s, but again, on sale. Cheap, but great: CP, to a lesser extent, Nyx. Pigmented e/s: Viseart and old MUFE.

Best brand for splurging? Dior, Chanel and Nars
Best brand for cheap but great products? Inglot, Maybelline and Sephora’s own house brand
Best brand for pigmented eyeshadow? they all have winners and stinkers but I’d have to say Inglot, UD and some of the old Ready shadows from Bare Minerals (I pulled out the Star Treatment palette 2 days ago and have been using it – what fabulously rich pigmentation and texture). Also Lorac, though it’s no longer available in Canada.
NW20 dark blonde with green eyes.
Favorite current splurges: YSL foundation (All Nighter!!) & lips – Tint in Oil & new one that stays on all day (but gloss on top is a must to keep from dry feeling.). Oh – for brushes…WAYNE GOSS – love, love, love!

Cheap but great products: Colourpop for sure. I’ve also bee super impressed with Loreal and Milani lately. Flower beauty is also great.
Best brand for pigmented shadows: MELT hands down. Runner ups are Natasha and Viseart. I need my pigment to blend effortlessly so normally super pigmented shadows are not my friend (ahem, subculture), but these brands get it perfectly perfect.
