Skincare product that saved your skin?
Retinol
The one beauty product that never fails you?
Two things – eye cream, and Guerlain meteorites. Not together, but the eye cream because my eyes can get really dry and water and for some reason eye cream underneath my eye helps, plus it helps with concealer. And Guerlain Meteorites because I could have a really severe looking face and applied too much blush or contour or what not, but a few brushes of Meteorites over everything makes it all blend together and look flawless.
The brand you’re most thankful for?
I have 3 in mind, but I would have to say Giorgio Armani. I finally found my HG (Lasting Silk) foundation and just love the Eye Tints. GA was my new brand discovery this year and I’m really thankful for that!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/neutral
Skincare product that saved your skin? Trish McEvoy Vitamin C Cream tied with Trish McEvoy Retinol Eye Cream
The one beauty product that never fails you? Lipstick. It can change your “look”. It brightens your face when you’re tired. It can make you flirty, vampy, sweet, bold, daring, natural, or anything you chose to imagine. Pretty darn amazing.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Laura Geller. I’m new to this brand and have expanded my stash to include a Geller product for each step. I have not found a single product I am not in love with and, given how picky I am, that’s VERY unusual!
Your skin tone/coloring: Med/dark with yellow undertones.
Skincare product that saved your skin? RETINOL. Trying Peter Thomas Roth’s 1.5% retinol night serum was a breakthrough moment for my skin, and I have since found a couple other retinol formulas that I also really like. I’d also have to say mineral-based sunscreen was the other critical element that turned things around for me.
The one beauty product that never fails you? I think I’m going to have to go with lipstick. More than any other single item, I think it has the ability to make me look so much more put together.
The brand you’re most thankful for? This is tough. There isn’t any one brand that I obsess over, so I guess I’m going to go with Lisa Eldridge and Christine/Temptalia, haha. The skin care and makeup advice that Eldridge gives on her blog and on YouTube really help me, and I love this blog for the thorough reviews and swatch comparisons. Between Eldridge and Temptalia, I’m much better at doing my makeup and caring for my skin, and I’m a much more educated consumer!
I SO agree with your comments about the wonderful Lisa and Christine. Bless them (and you!).
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/ Light with pinkish undertones
Skincare product that saved your skin? Nip + Fab Bee Sting Fix Lifting Mask – Perfect refreshment for my sometimes dull, dry skin. It tenses, lifts, and hydrates, but does not dry my skin out and it’s such a good price that I keep buying it. Actually, anything from Nip + Fab is great.
The one beauty product that never fails you? For cosmetics: My Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in Light 1. I use it everyday and it gives me the most perfect, natural look, even in the most intense, unflattering light. I always get compliments on my skin because of it.
For skincare: Stila One Step Correct. I keep repurchasing it and I can really see I difference in the way that it corrects and hydrates my skin. I use it every morning before makeup.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Probably Nip + Fab once again. They have never let me down with their skincare products.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light/warm
Skincare product that saved your skin? Paula’s Choice Resist BHA 9. It’s super-concentrated salicylic acid and my skin is so clear, it’s unreal. Better than prescriptions. Runner-up would be the Clarisonic; they’re a mighty team together.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Cover Girl Clump Crusher mascara.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Urban Decay. No other eyeshadow wears as well on me, and I love their lipsticks/foundation/eyeliner too. I’m a Naked palette stalwart and proud of it.
Your skin tone/coloring: light to medium warm
Skincare product that saved your skin? Grape seed oil! Saved me today from the harsh wintry chill.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Labello lip balm. An oldie but a goodie.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Clinique
Your skin tone/coloring: NW5
Skincare product that saved your skin? Ugh, still working on it. As of now I’d say the Fresh Rose Face Mask. I started using it every morning instead of washing my face, because it was so dry. Definitely less dry now.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Clinique Take the Day Off oil, Mac Face and Body.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Hmm, I don’t know. My “go-to” products are all over the place brand-wise. Maybe Colourpop for being so good and so affordable.
Coloring: fair/cool–MAC NW10-13. Brown hair/green-grey eyes
Skin saving product: alpha hydrox AHA soufflé. I have kp, so my skin doesn’t exfoliate at all…this is cheap, and does a great job at significantly reducing my clogged pores without over-drying!
Never fail beauty product: Buxom lip polish…never met one I didn’t like!!
Brand most thankful for: loreal for having great quality products at an affordable price, and tarte for having a variety of cool-leaning neutrals in both eyeshadow and blush!!
♥ Your skin tone/coloring:
• Dark to Medium-Deep
• Warm undertone, with a touch of Neutral
• NC44.5 to NC45
♥ Skincare product that saved your skin?
❝For my oily skin, there are two products in particular. One, I’ve used for a couple years now, and the other is new and it’s going to become a permanent staple in my skincare routine.❞
• Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
✶ Yes, oil to control an oily skin. It’s a fabulous substitute moisturizer!!
• Secret Key Snail + EGF Repairing Cream
✶ My new love! This Korean cream hydrates and plumps my skin like no other!
♥ The one beauty product that never fails you?
• Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24Hr Foundation
❝I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This foundation is flawlessness in a bottle!❞
♥ The brand you’re most thankful for?
• MAC
❝Despite how much I harp about their current marketing practice and some questionable, under-performing, over-priced products, I must say that I’m most thankful for MAC. I have extremely sensitive lips. They become severely chapped, irritated, and inflated if certain solutions touch them (such as anything citric or alcohol-based); and it usually takes weeks to fully heal my lips. For many, many years I endured wearing various brands’ lip products, and each time, my lips would react either mildly or drastically to these items. It wasn’t until I bought my very first MAC lipstick, that I found a savior. It was the first lip product that didn’t agitate my lips AT ALL! I was beyond elated! To this very day, if I wear a lipstick, it will 95% of the time be from MAC.
The remaining 5% belongs mostly to YSL, Vaseline, and ChapStick. :)❞
Your skin tone/coloring: Porcelain, cool toned, some pinkness.
Skincare product that saved your skin? Hm. There isn’t a whole lot that my skin needs saving from. Mostly it’s just dry. Literally any moisturizer will do, from Lancôme to St. Ives body lotion to olive oil. But I can say that I have really bad under eye circles, and Kiehl’s creamy eye treatment with avocado helps a decent amount. Not enough that I go “wow!”, but enough that I notice. My under eye circles don’t seem less dark, but much more condensed in how much space they take up. I like it, but if anyone has experience with eye creams that make dark circles smaller AND brighter, I’d so appreciate hearing about it.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Kevyn Aucoin’s the Volume Mascara. It’s my mascara BFF. For a not makeup beauty product, maybe Wen. I have wavy/curly/frizzy dry hair and I’ve tried to use just conditioner as shampoo before in an attempt to not pay as much, but I have yet to find a conditioner that makes my hair as soft and non-frizzy as Wen. I recently went through a phase where I colored my hair three times and used color oops twice in about two months and my hair was dry and gross. I bought some Wen during the Sephora 20% off sale to see if it would help and it already has. My hair is nice and soft again.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Well, aside from Wen and Kevyn Aucoin, I don’t know if I’m so dedicated to any one brand…I typically use five different brands just for my face makeup alone (different brands of skin primer, foundation, blush, highlight/bronze, setting powder or spray), seven if you count skin care along with it. And that’s the minimum. But I have been enjoying Kat Von D’s makeup line a lot lately, and there so many things that I love about Ciate London’s Olivia Palermo line. It’d probably be one of those.
1) Sunscreen & Paula’s Choice retinols
2) Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade
3) Paula’s Choice – her products have erased years off my face and eyes
Your skin tone/coloring: NC15
Skincare product that saved your skin?: Depends. It was the La Roche-Posay Hydraphase serum, but I can’t find that in the US. Nowadays it’s probably the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream- Intense Hydration for Dry Skin.
The one beauty product that never fails you?: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation
The brand you’re most thankful for?: Hard to say in terms of “thankful” as I have to spend my money in order to get it. Maybe ColourPop, because it’s affordable but stellar quality, and is making some of the overpriced brands reconsider their business practices that they’ve had since the McCarthy era and are still using in 2015.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC-35, medium with olive undertones. I might be a 30 now that my tan is starting to wear off though
Skincare product that saved your skin? Proactiv zit zapper, works like a charm! The moisturizer is doing good things for my skin too.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Anastasia brow powder, I do my eyebrows daily with it and it’s always done its job very well. The light powder is like 80% pan right now though, so looks like I’ll have to stretch it until I can replace it with Christmas money!
The brand you’re most thankful for? Colourpop, they’ve saved me a ton of money with their cheek products and now their eyeliner. And the eyeshadow formula is heaven in a little white jar!
Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; auburn hair; hazel/green eyes.
Skincare product that saved your skin? NuSkin products. Their facial products have been great for my aging skin. Their Epoch Sole Solution is the only product that works on the eczema patches I get by my elbows.
The one beauty product that never fails you? BareMinerals Original Foundation SPF 15 and Mineral Veil. I know that’s two, but I always use them together. It’s the team that never fails me. I have to say Too Faced Shadow Insurance has never failed me, either.
The brand you’re most thankful for? High end: BareMinerals, because I can always use them, even when my skin is super-super-oily and my eye allergies are out of control. Drug store: E.l.f., because they have a huge range of products, the quality is mostly great, and they’re super-affordable. Plus, they make one of the only two concealers that stick to my oily skin and are a good shade match.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light with yellow/green undertones NC 20-25
Skincare product that saved your skin? A one two punch with Obagi Zo Brightenex (.5% retinol) and IS Clinical serum. But I also cannot live without Skinceuticals Vit C, E, Ferulic Acid serum. It makes a big difference.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Tom Ford cream eye shadows
The brand you’re most thankful for? I would have to say Giorgio Armani. Tom Ford. Tough call.
Your skin tone/coloring:
Fair to Light/Cool
Skincare product that saved your skin?
I can’t say just one, but Paula’s Choice products and others that she recommends has helped me screen out irritants that affect my rosacea.
The one beauty product that never fails you?
Dr Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm, never irritates, spreads on like a dream and hides any redness. I could say this saved my skin too!
The brand you’re most thankful for?
Overall, Paula’s Choice.
Your skin tone/coloring: Dark warm
Skincare product that saved your skin? Korres wild rose sleeping facial mask. This helps my dry patches and helps with dullness, but doesn’t leave my pores clogged and it’s not oily. After using Retin-a micro which is harsh on my skin sometimes, this mask is so good.
Sunscreen, too!
The one beauty product that never fails you? Nars radiant creamy concealer!
The brand you’re most thankful for? Nars currently and Fashion Fair for introducing me to makeup. I can still remember the smell of my mom’s FF lipstick and the gifts with purchase that she would let me have as a teen:-)
Your skin tone/coloring: Neutral-Warm, Fair/light. Around NC15-20, I think. I’m not really a Mac foundation fan–I use Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Gobi and Nars Radiant Cream Compact Foundation in Deauville.
Skincare product that saved your skin? ARGAN OIL!
The one beauty product that never fails you? Tom Ford Lips & Boys “Henry.” Beyond ecstatic that these are permanent. Henry always looks good, even if that’s all the makeup I’m wearing.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Z-palette 😉
Skin tone/coloring: Light with pink undertones
Skincare product that saved your skin? Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum. This serum has turned out to be the magic bullet for my oily yet flaky skin.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Chanel lipstick in Confidentialle. It’s the most perfect pink, and the lipstick I wear when I don’t know what lipstick to wear!
The brand you’re most thankful for? Drunk Elephant. At last a brand that offers thoughtfully crafted skin care in packaging that keeps the ingredients stable.
Chelsea, I have never heard of Drunk Elephant before I read your comment above and I am SO impressed with this company. Their products look to be of excellent quality and ethically created. I am going to check out whether they ship to Australia. I think I need their serums and moisturizing creams. Thank you so much.
Hi Genevieve, you can find Drunk Elephant at Sephora. They have brick and mortar stores somewhere in Australia, so I hope this helps you!
Skincare product that saved your skin? Boscia Makeup breakup cool cleansing oil, Mac Studio moisture cream & Keihls avocado eye cream
The one beauty product that never fails you? Bronzer & Lipstick
The brand you’re most thankful for? MAC 🙂
My skin undertone is yellow.
Skin care product that saved my skin: Olay exfoliator brush.
One beauty product that never fails me: Clarins Beauty Flash
Brand I”m most thankful for: Clarins.
Here I am replying to my own post !!
Another product that never fails me: Guerlain Teint Soleil in Naturel. Eliminates fine lines, pores and gives a flawless glow. No need for powdering either!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/light with pink undertones
Skincare product that saved your skin? L’Occitane Hand Cream-I am never without it in my purse, at work or at home and have given the small tubes as gifts and everyone loves it
The one beauty product that never fails you? Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector- I use it every single time I wear makeup and it really helps to cover up the dark circles, brighten and allows me to wear less concealer
The brand you’re most thankful for? Charlotte Tilbury- every product I have of hers works great for my skintone/hair color, is easy to work with and lasts
Your skin tone/coloring: NC 15-20
Skincare product that saved your skin? Estee Lauder ANR! That serum basically “adds 5 more hours of sleep” to my skin. No matter how sleep-deprived I am, ANR always gives my skin a softened, smoothened feeling in the morning.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Giorgio Armani Maestro primer. The subtle brightener in this primer makes my foundation stay on for the whole day. And it never breaks me out.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Giorgio Armani. Their foundation and pressed powder never oxidize! I believed their claim and decided to give it a try, tho it sounded like an insane claim. But they delivered! I’ve lived in three different cities in the past 11 months, with completely different geographical features and weather conditions. Giorgio Armani’s products never fail me. Their lip products are my holiday splurges and eye tints, man, they do last 16 hours!
Skin tone: very fair, porcelain
Skincare product that saved your skin: serums. I have tried a few – some of them irritate my skin and I am not sure why. But the Natio Serum for Mature Skins is working really well at the moment and I am onto my second bottle.
Beauty Product that never fails: Maybelline Colour Sensational lipsticks – I have a few of them: Divine Wine, Untainted Spice, In Style Sienna, Red Revival etc. They are all fantastic quality at a most affordable price. Better than lots of HE lipsticks in terms of ratings.
Brand I am thankful for: Urban Decay and a very close second is bareMinerals.
Skintone: fair neutral.
The rest, I’ll lump together: Clinique, for the Mild Clarifying Lotion (the green “delicate” formula). It’s a brilliant acidic toner that exfoliates and helps with both fine lines and breakouts, yet it’s gentle enough that it’s one of the only products my sensitive face actually finds soothing when applied. It’s the one exact skincare item that I am never without – I’ll rotate serums, moisturisers, etc., but I can not do without my green stuff. Been using it since university and I’m over 40 now!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/Pale/Ghostly
Skincare product that saved your skin? I don’t use lotions and oils etc – so, none.
The one beauty product that never fails you? MAC blush
The brand you’re most thankful for? MAC
Your skin tone/coloring: light medium/warm
Skincare product that saved your skin?: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate.
The one beauty product that never fails you?: YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick!
The brand you’re most thankful for?: I don’t know, maybe if not MAC,the first brand that help me learn about makeup,it gonna be MUFE because they have everything I ever need and many things of my fav products come from MUFE brand
Your skin tone/coloring: between fair and light; cool undertones with warm features
Skincare product that saved your skin? consistent daily use of sunscreen/TMs/BB/CC creams with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide sunscreen of SPF 20 or greater has calmed down my rosacea enormously! I’ve happily used Tarte, Too Faced, Paula’s Choice and IT Cosmetics products in this category (gradually moving toward a higher SPF and a more radiant finish).
The one beauty product that never fails you? in addition to zinc oxide/titanium dioxide, salicylic acid (BHA) has done wonders for my rosacea. Paula’s Choice makes some great alcohol-free options.
The brand you’re most thankful for? Use of Paula’s Choice (skin care), IT Cosmetics (base and concealers), and Hourglass (priming and finishing) products together get me loads of compliments on my nearly 60-year-old skin 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: MUFE LL #7 Pink
Skincare product that saved your skin? A combination of Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream and three other products in the Caudalie line. I don’t know why it works magic for me, but any time my skin decides it doesn’t want to cooperate, the Premier Cru comes to the rescue and gets my face back to normal in one or two days. I’ve tried to find a less expensive alternative but nothing has worked as quickly and performed as well (for me) as the Caudalie line.
The one beauty product that never fails you? Guerlain’s Precious Light
The brand you’re most thankful for? Again, it would have to be Caudalie. My face had SO much redness and was so dry (to the point of flaking and peeling in a few areas) before I started using it. My husband even commented on how much happier my skin looked.
Your skintone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones MAC Pro Longwear NC40, deep brunette, teal-green w/ gold flecks eyes.
Skincare product that saved your skin: the concoction of Retinol, Vit. C and Hyaluronic acid does wonders, so I’m not 100% sure which one is the ONE doing the most! But, I do believe that something I do during daytime might be doing even more than all those: Sunscreen! And especially FAB mineral based sunscreen!
The one beauty product that never fails you: Because I have an uneven skintone with some reddish areas near my nose, foundation! Especially one with decent coverage and a satin-matte finish.
The brand you are most thankful for: The permanent range of MAC. Just their foundation shade range alone is fabulous, and even better, they continually are expanding that range! Add to that , an enormous selection of lip products, eyeshadow, blushes, etc. That place is my candy-store, I’m tellin ya!
Your skin tone/coloring: NARS Sheer Glow in Gobi, MAC NW15
Skincare product that saved your skin? I’d say it would be The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil and Mizon Collagen Power Firming Enriched Cream
The one beauty product that never fails you? Hmm. No clear winner here, lots of them actually don’t. But if I was forced to choose, currently I’d go for MUFE Pro Bronze Fusion bronzer. It just works. Cannot overdo it, looks natural, 15i Amber is a good match, what else can I ask for?
The brand you’re most thankful for? Veeeery original, but MAC. This is what started my little obsession with makeup, cause whatever I buy there, I always enjoy using. The fact that all the girls there are makeup artists and know their stuff helps as well, cause they will help you with the choice, tell you how to use a product correctly. The only minor issue I have with the brand is their foundations, although for professional, not “wear-all-day-everyday” (which is what I want from my foundation 🙂 ) purposes they are excellent.
Your skin tone/coloring: Cool-toned and pale, but not quite “fair.”
Skincare product that saved your skin? Accutane.
The one beauty product that never fails you? My Revlon balm stains. I love how the color stays put without drying out my lips.
The brand you’re most thankful for? CeraVe. The Accutane fixed the big issues, but I still had minor things going on until I started using CeraVe’s foaming cleanser.
Your skin tone/coloring:
NC 15 most of the year. I can also be as dark as NC20.
Skincare product that saved your skin?
Not a product per se, but BHA!!!
Going to try the Cosrx BHA Liquid.
The one beauty product that never fails you?
BHA again.
The brand you’re most thankful for?
MUFE!
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium Warm Neutral MAC NC 35ish
Skincare product that saved your skin? Josie Maran Argan Oul
The one beauty product that never fails you? Mascara. I prefer lengthening and thickening formulas that don’t flake!
The brand you’re most thankful for? Tarte although I don’t use the brand exclusively I’ve enjoyed all the products I have tried and always have something of theirs in my rotation
Your skin tone/coloring: NC50
Skincare product that saved your skin? Acne.org Treatment Gel
The one beauty product that never fails you? Rock & Republic Blush in Shameless
The brand you’re most thankful for? MUFE
