Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool
Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? I’m not really sure – maybe just more of my regular moisturizer or a spritz with one of the hydrating sprays/essences I have and rarely use (duh!)
Most effective makeup remover? for eyes, the Clarins bi-phase eye makeup remover or Clinique TTDO liquid (works for lips too though I rarely need it for lips); for face generally, The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter – every bit as good and effective as products costing considerably more
Skincare tool you use regularly? My Foreo Luna silicone “thingy” (not even sure what to call it – “cleansing device”, maybe?)

Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name (blue-green eyes, dark hair)

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Hmm…either The Ordinary Marula Oil or Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide fits that bill. Used together? Amazing!

Most effective makeup remover? Baby oil infused with aloe vera for my heavy duty waterproof mascara, tightliner and winged liner. I know, I know. But that’s what does the job gently, thoroughly and quickly. For the rest of my makeup, FAB Pure Skin Face Cleanser is very gentle and non-drying. I use it after removing all my eye makeup, then rinse my face and eye area thoroughly.

Skincare tool you use regularly? Not that I have been remembering to use it, but will start again: the Foreo thingamajig. Cannot recall its formal name. But, I sure did enjoy the mild face massage it gave. Seemed to boost my cleansers efficacy, too.

I did grapeseed oil standalone for a period. Worked. Did not hurt my eyes when it got in them, but got cloudy vision. Probably the resveratrol washes down the sink, though.

Your skin tone/coloring: Below my name

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Hyaluronic acid serum (any brand) under a more occlusive cream.

Most effective makeup remover? An oil that emulsifies to rinse off. I am now using Iunik Complete Calendula Oil because it is relatively affordable and easy for me to buy.

Skincare tool you use regularly? I don’t know if it counts as skin care but I use a facial razor about once a month. It is the only exfoliation I do now.

Andrea Avatar

Holy moly! You’re brave, I wouldn’t dare use a razor! I had my Poirot moustache “permanently” sent into oblivion by a “professional” and 4 years later I was back to having to wax again. On top my hardly noticeable blonde facial hair’s turned really dark lately, I look like a monkey! hahah I’m finally seeing a dermatologist next week and I’m hoping there are options other than a razor. Otherwise I’ll be waxing my whole face once a week :S

Wednesday Avatar

Sephora has disposable plastic facial razors and I find them safe. I think it is all about how you angle the razor. I take off my peach fuzz and the godawful chin hairs and moustache corners and it also takes off surface dead skin cells. Shiseido also has similar style avail through Amazon. I cannot wax my ‘stache’.. I’ve tried various methods (hot wax, wax strips, cold wax, sugaring) and all leave my upper lip in really bad shape.. so shaving it is.

Andrea Avatar

I agree with you that razors are safe but I’m prone to allergies and often get a rash on my face so it’s not a good idea for me. My biggest issue though is I feel like shaving is a lifelong commitment. In summer I have to shave my legs every single day, otherwise I just hide them, but I can’t hide my face! haha! I wouldn’t want to commit my face to something so permanent and I know they say it doesn’t make hair grow darker or thicker but I’m the exception! You’re all lucky and brave to put a razor to your face!

Andrea Avatar

I see a lot of you swear by dermaplaning! Do you feel like you have to shorten the time inbetween treatments as time goes on or that you’ve gotten “hairier”? I’d read about this from a dermatologist who does it as part of her skincare but I never knew sb who actually does it.

Skin tone/coloring: under my name, sallow in winter, deeper tan in summer.

Best skincare products for quick boost of hydration: Dr. Brenner plant derived Squalane Oil – 2 drops every AM/PM, holy grail if you live in a DRY climate. Replenix Soothing Antioxidant Mist – works great for moisture and to set makeup.

Most effective eye makeup remover: Neutrogena Oil-Free, in the purple bottle. Grapeseed Oil for double cleanse first, Inkey List Oat cleansing balm mixed with Fulvic Acid brightening gel cleanser for the second cleanse (waves to Nancy haha).

Skincare tools used everyday: washcloth and tweezers.

Andrea Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: NC15 in studio fix – fair & yellow

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? 1) Hada Labo Rohto Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion used over a thermal water spray – great for face and hair. 2) Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream – I’m very dry under the eyes, this smooths the skin & makeup looks flawless. 3) Coconut oil – great for body (& to remove makeup when nothing else’s available).

Most effective makeup remover? Pharma Act Cleansing Oil For Day or Night.

Skincare tool you use regularly? I haven’t used anything regularly in ages so I’ll be looking forward to the interesting answers from others!

Maggie Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: How about my skintype? Acne-prone, sensitive, combination.

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Hmm…moisturizing on a damp/wet skin with something a bit occlusive. Right now, I use Aveeno Calm + Restore oat gel moisturizer for a lighter moisture and/or Vanicream Cream or Vanicream Ointment for more.

Most effective makeup remover? Clinique Take the Day Off collection. I’ve used the Cleansing Milk, Cleansing Oil, Makeup Remover, & Cleansing Balm. Aside from the balm, I can’t use any of this bc I personally find it stripping but I can’t deny that I find these effective.

Skincare tool you use regularly? Tweezers and Eyebrow Razor.

CeeBee Avatar

Your skin tone/colouring: Light medium, yellow tones. Dark brown hair and eyes.

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Laniege Cream Skin toner essence followed by Embryolisse Filaderme cream.

Most effective makeup remover? Good Molecules Instant Cleansing Balm, hands down. Smells delightful, also.

Skincare tool you use regularly? Just a konjac sponge.

Most effective makeup remover? Garnier Micellar Water in Waterproof

Skincare tool you use regularly? Microfiber washcloth? I don’t use any tools

Andrea Avatar

I need to mainstream my skincare routine and one of the biggest skincare expert bloggers is this lady called Caroline Hirons. I’ve been browsing her blog and she can’t stop raving about washcloths so you’re at the top of your game! hahah

Celesta Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green eyes, warm brown hair.

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? I love the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

Most effective makeup remover? Whatever inexpensive cleansing balm I have at the moment, very warm water, and a makeup eraser.

Skincare tool you use regularly? My fingers. 😂

Genevieve Avatar

Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? My favourites at the moment is Weeleda’s Skin Food and The Ordinary’s Argon Oil. Honourable mentions go to Olay’s Regenerist Day cream and A’kin’s Night cream.

Most effective makeup remover? Dr. Lewinn’s Cleansing Oil – just takes everything off easily and effortlessly. CeraVe’s Hydrating cleanser is not bad either.

Skincare tool you use regularly? I don’t really use a skincare tool at all.

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Caudalie Beauty Elixir Face Mist
Most effective makeup remover? Garnier Micellar Water
Skincare tool you use regularly? I’m a little obsessive in this department: Gua Sha Facial Lifting Tool, Jade Facial Roller, Nuface mini facial toner, Dermapore Ultrasonic Pore Extractor and Serum Infusor, Dermaflash Exfoliating device, Facial Steamer, GloPro Micro needling Facial Tool, I have a couple of Nurse Jaimie’s facial tools and Ashley Black’s Facia Blaster kit. There might be something that I’ve forgotten too.

Andrea Avatar

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I’d read about sth like this from an Asian bogger and it looked interesting but your comment makes me think they actually do work so I’ll probably consider it more seriously. I’d forgotten about my pores and all of the sudden they’ve decided to show up for the party uninvited! haha

Jo Avatar

I have light skin, pink, and it tends to be dry.
Hydration product: I think adding face oil to my routine has made a difference. I layer serum, cream, and oil.
Makeup Remover: I think pre-cleansing balms or butters are amazing at melting cosmetics off the skin.
Skincare Tool: I know people will say I shouldn’t do this at home, (sanitizing thoroughly is important), but I micro needle my face every four weeks… and I use tools with longer needles, too! I have a derma roller that is 0.75 mm, and a stamp that can be adjusted, but I use it at 1 mm. I have a high pain tolerance, but it does hurt. It’s worth it, though, because I have noticed a huge difference!

Andrea Avatar

I know sb who did micro-needling (or whatever it’s called) on their stretch marks. She said it was the most painful experience in her entire life but completely worth it! I would love to try it but the pain really puts me off :S

Jo Avatar

Most painful? No way, not even close! :). I do it on my stretch marks and scars as well, and it doesn’t bother me— and I do the 2 mm length on my body. In my opinion it is not a terribly painful experience, even on my face, and I use longer needles than most people do at home. I see a lot of people do it more frequently with 0.5 mm needles and have great results. They also sell numbing cream. I think going to a professional and having it done with numbing cream and longer needles would be worth the money, if you can afford it. I’ve only done it three times, four weeks apart, and my skin is already tighter looking, more even-toned, scars and pores are less noticeable, and the wrinkles have softened a bit. Just do your research, and learn how to take care of your skin afterwards, like what not to put on it the same day, etc.

Lori Avatar

Skin tone: fair to light with pink undertones and rosacea.
Favorite product for hydration: Thanks to Christine, I have fallen in love with the Biologique Recherche for sensitive skin. Dead flakies begone and hello soft skin! I’ve also added The Ordinary’s resveratrol with ferulic acid at night, and I top that with Olay Regenerest Collagen Peptide 24. Despite living in humid Northwest Florida, my sensitive skin has become dry and easily dehydrates. Thank you menopause! I have thoroughly enjoyed this nighttime combination for a few weeks now.
Favorite makeup remover: Colleen Rothschild’s cleansing balm is my holy grail for cleansing.
Favorite device: I love my FOREO Luna. My Clarisonic was my holy grail until rosacea entered the picture.

ShariP Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, NW10 in winter, NW13 in summer. Black hair and deep ntown-black eyes
Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Any one of the Cerave creams.
Most effective makeup remover? Lancome Biphasil for eyes. Then Clinique TTDO, I like the solid form. Sometimes I’ll use a makeup wipe, from Sam’s Club, which works really well. When traveling I hate to stain a hotel wash cloth, probably silly of me.
Skincare tool you use regularly? My Clarsonic. I stocked up on brushes so I’m good for a couple of years yet.

Cherie Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Golden Neutral – NC30
Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? face – Clarins spf face cream. Body – I love plain old oils – grape seed, camellia, shea oil, cocoa butter… or a mix of what I want. I started making my own heavy duty balms when I couldn’t find any product on the market to soothe my skin during pregnancy.
Most effective makeup remover? coconut oil
Skincare tool you use regularly? PMD device with the heating element.

Ana Maria Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium with warm yellow undertones, dark brown hair and eyes

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Paula’s Choice Peptide Booster.

Most effective makeup remover? Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm, who has recently dethroned my old favorite Clinique Take the Day Off.

Skincare tool you use regularly? I actually don’t use any tools in my skincare… maybe my old Remington IPL Hair Removal System could be consider as such…

Helene Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Above, grey-green eyes and dark brown hair.
Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Either a mist or an essence, used before serums.
Most effective makeup remover? I like Clinique Take the Day Off Balm.
Skincare tool you use regularly? I try to use the Foreo Luna thingy, but I’ve forgot to charge it. It’s collecting dust on the shelf in the bathroom. 😀 The same goes for the NuFace, except it’s in a pouch with the add-on thingies. As they aren’t cheap I must try to use them regularly.

kjh Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: lt to lt med, red u/ts.
Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? Often just a spritz, primarily centella. Cosrx snail for breathable, Cosrx ceramide or Purito dermide cica for occlusive.
Most effective makeup remover? I rather second the grapeseed oil. Balms are all horribly burning in my eyes. Tried the Purito green level, but thought it dragged too much, until I started using enough. 🤡🤡🤡 Also the Bioderma ABC…which cracks me up. It’s touted as a baby product. What baby do you know that needs makeup removal before the rest of the bath?
Skincare tool you use regularly? The nuface broke, so no devices at present. I do use Konjac sponges, but get leery of keeping it safe from bacterial build up.

Stephanie Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Pale warm, blondeish hair, blue eyes

Best skincare product for a boost of hydration? L’Occitane Shea Butter Creme in the tub. That stuff is miraculous.

Most effective makeup remover? Cleansing balm in general. My favorite is definitely Elemis, but I have tried a few others that are nice as well. I feel like they get long-wearing makeup off the best.

Skincare tool you use regularly? I don’t think there is one anymore. I have a quartz roller that is nice for soothing the surface redness, but I usually forget to use it.
