Your go-to sunscreen for face? Josie Maran SPF 47
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Anything in a spray can
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Believe it or not I’ve only gotten sunburned once. I used Advil, regular body lotion, and cool showers.
Hey Diana, The Josie Maran Sunscreen- do you wear that under makeup like as a daily SPF ,out at the pool/beach or both. I am trying to figure out a good sunscreen routine (still) and that one came in the Sephora Suncare kit I got. I noticed it seemed a bit shiny. But, I haven’t tried it out for a full day yet. I wasn’t sure which one it was supposed to be? or both? Thanks! 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: Fairest cool/green/Aqua/grey eyes Dark blonde both cool & warm
Your go-to sunscreen for face? RADICAL Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30!
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer SPF 30!
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Korean tubs of Aloe! And if I get burned really badly on the muscles where the shoulder runs into the neck, I use a spray aloe with a numbing agent because it usually hurts so bad! 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: light to medium warm
Your go-to sunscreen for face? Glo-Therapeuticals SPF 40+
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Banana Boat for kids
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Anything with aloe vera
My skin tone is light olive. I don’t sunburn so I can’t answer to that although I do windburn. For that I use a seaweed mask or cold tea bags…green or black…to take down the inflammation. On my face I use either COOLA moisturizing face sunscreen, unscented, in spf 30 (great under makeup) or, for more heavy duty wear I use Coppertone’s sensitive skin in sf 50. This one is not so good under makeup but it is great for hiking in the hot sun, on the boat or at the beach. On the rest of me, I reach for Banana Boat BABY in sf 50 or I continue to use up my big backup supply of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch sunblock in sf 70. I seem to have developed a sensitivity to the Neutrogena sunscreens when applied to my face which is a shame as they are really good ones. I use this up on my hands or arms. My husband likes the light one in the little shake it up container. Living in Southern California makes sunscreen a way of life for us each and every day….even today in the drizzle!
Your skin tone/coloring: NC 15-20 fair with neutral undertone
Your go-to sunscreen for face? Algenist anti-aging sunscreen. (whatever the name is, the only sunscreen they have, that one). $28 for 1 oz. Efficient, didn’t break me out, breathable when wearing it even under the southern humidity. Hands down my favorite for this summer and I’ll keep buying it.
Your go-to sunscreen for body? L’oread Sublime Sun, the one with foam formula. Really light weight and efficient. Protected me well from Colorado mountainous spf! That’s really SOMETHING!
Best product for dealing with sunburn? maybe aloe vera gel? I don’t have much experience with that since I’m always fully prepared with sunscreen on my skin and wearing long-sleeves and so.
Your skin tone/coloring: light and warm
Your go-to sunscreen for face? Right now my Paula’s Choice Hydralight moisturizer with spf 30
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Hawaiian Tropic or Banana Boat sunscreens
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Pure aloe gel
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair redhead
Your go-to sunscreen for face? combination of these: Coppertone SPF 50 for face, Laura Mercier SPF protect primer, Dr Jart BB cream (premium or waterfuse) with SPF
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Waterproof/sweatproof sprays, I’m liking Hawaiian tropic right now. I like sprays better because they absorb readily and can be used in places like my scalp that are hard to cover with lotions.
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Heavy duty moisturizers, re-applied frequently. Refrigerated aloe vera gel helps with the pain, but it doesn’t provide the moisture my skin needs after a burn. I actually am using a First Aid Beauty oatmeal mask right now to help with sunburn recovery…. good timing, ha.
Skin tone: cool-toned fair/light, NWT 18
Sunscreen for face: Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 50+; I mix a dime-size amount of this on the back of my hand with one pump of Guerlain Tenue de Perfection (because really Guerlain, spf 20?) and get perfect tinted moisturizer.
Sunscreen for body: Coppertone Sport Continuous spray spf 50. Spray is so much easier than lotion!
Sunburn cure: Fresh aloe vera (remove a whole stalk from the plant; apply as much as you need; keep the rest in the fridge indefinitely or add it to iced tea/smoothies/whatever), homemade vitamin E massage oil (I like 1 tsp vitamin E in a 500ml bottle of grapeseed oil from the grocery store, shake to combine; 1% is all you need according to Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling!) for minor burns. Solarcaine lidocaine spray to take the edge off more serious burns, while the aloe and E fix it up.
That’s natural vitamin E; synthetic is, while often fabulous, not as good here.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool
Your go-to sunscreen for face? Several – La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF60, CoverFX SPF30 primer, a Clarins one with SPF 40
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Ombrelle SPF60 or Neutrogena SPF100
Best product for dealing with sunburn? I have not had a sunburn in decades and decades but if I did, I’d probably treat it with cool milk (the lactic acid is supposed to be good, as is the coolness of it)
Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; dark-featured.
Face: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70. I bought it for my trip to Disneyland, and I actually really like it! It wears very well under foundation or BB Cream, and I will likely repurchase, or the physical one, which is SPF 50.
Body: I stay covered, so I don’t typically use one. If I do, I just ise whatever I find on sale… For my Disneyland trip this past weekend, I used a Kroger (store-brand) spray in SPF 30, and I didn’t get the slightest tan line, so apparently it works pretty well!
Sumburn: It’s not something I have to deal with, so… Prevention is the best way, IMO; be generous with the SPF, wear hat/glasses, and only spend the necessary amount of time in the sun!
Your skin tone/coloring: Very light neutral; magenta-red hair, hazel/green eyes
Your go-to sunscreen for face? If my foundation’s SPF isn’t enough, I use whatever I’m using on my body. I need to find a good facial sunscreen for my ever-changing skin that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Usually the highest SPF No-Ad I can find.
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Generic aloe vera gel and drinking lots of water.
Most of my foundations have 20-30 SPF.
I’d give the Neutrogena one (mentioned below) a shot. I’ve been very happy with it, and I’ve tried a lot of formulations, being so pale (I’m 43). You can find it at Walgreens, and one tube will last you a long time – it doesn’t take that much as it spreads and absorbs very well. My skin doesn’t react to it in some weird way either. If you’ll forgive me mentioning it, I also sweat like a horse in summer, yet I don’t break out under the Neutrogena, which is a small miracle.
Thanks, Janie. I’ll check it out. There’s a Walgreen’s about two blocks from me.
I agree with the Neutrogena! There’s also a new, physical one, as well, which I’ll probably try next. I just spent a day at Disneyland, and the Neutrgena held up well, even under a mineral powder foundation, and was comfortable to wear.
Thanks, Amy. I got it on sale at my local Target yesterday. I’ll be using it today, as it will be in the 90s F. A good day to test it out.
Somehow I knew this would be a B-. That seems to be the trend in their last few palettes, like you mentioned above.
That was totally meant for the Naked Smokey comment section lol
Skin tone/coloring: Scots-Irish pale with freckles
Go-to sunscreen for face: Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry-Touch Sunblock, 85+ SPF – lasts, doesn’t break me out or irritate my skin; very light! Really works, too. I freckle and then burn. My skin: “Tan? I am unfamiliar with this concept.” For daily wear under makeup, I use either Aveeno moisturizer (SPF 15) or CeraVe AM moisturizer (SPF 30), which is a little thicker – good for winter. Eucerin also has a good 30+ SPF lotion for chapped skin.
Go-to sunscreen for body: usually the Neutrogena, just two layers.
Best way to deal with sunburn: Don’t let it happen. 😀 Reapply sunscreen every time you get out of the water and every two hours when outside. Doesn’t matter if it says it’s waterproof! But if I miss a spot somewhere… Tylenol is the best thing to reduce inflammation, and for topical, either straight aloe vera or Ocean Potion’s ICE, which has aloe and lidocaine. ICE has been around forever. Aveeno has an oatmeal bath that helps soothe feet or legs without dehydrating your skin, once it’s started to heal. Baking soda is also good for drawing out inflammation – just make a paste with water and pat it on. Also, give your skin as much air as you can, and don’t wear synthetic fabrics while it’s healing – they don’t breathe as well and will hold the heat in.
On a related note… If you don’t do it already, get your moles checked once a year by your dermatologist, and learn what to watch for regarding mole changes. When in doubt, make an appointment. Better safe then sorry.
Your skin tone/coloring: light with yellow undertones
Your go-to sunscreen for face? I’m using the Neutrogena ‘Ultra Sheer Water-Light Daily Facial’ sunscreen. Long name, but I like it!
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Doesn’t matter, Coppertone, Ombrelle. I’d like to try Clarins.
Best product for dealing with sunburn? All I’ve tried is aloe. I never used to burn even visiting several hot/ sunny places like Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Hawai’i. Then in 2013 my husband’s sister got married in DR and I had my first and worst sunburn of life on my whole front of my body. It was awful, I had cold shivers that night, and I’ll refrain from skin details… I’ll never go without sunscreen again even at home! And I live in the Canadian arctic!
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium Dark (NC44)
Your go-to sunscreen for face? Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Body Cream
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Body Cream
Best product for dealing with sunburn? I haven’t been burned too badly but usually cool/cold water and additional protection from the sun, usually gets better by itself within a couple of days.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/light warm, hazel eyes and auburn hair
Your go-to sunscreen for face? the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch lotion in SPF 70
Your go-to sunscreen for body? the NO-AD sunblock in SPF 50
Best product for dealing with sunburn? I’ve never had a real sunburn, only ever a little pinkness around my cheeks/shoulders that fades to a tan within a few hours/overnight (lucky me, I’m fair but tan quite easily!)
Your skin tone/coloring: Very pale natural redhead
Your go-to sunscreen for face? Elta MD UV Clear 46 – recommended by my dermatologist, it goes on great under make-up so I wear it everyday and it doesn’t break me out
Your go-to sunscreen for body? For everyday, Eucerin has a moisturizer with a 15 spf that doesn’t feel sticky. For outdoor events, usually a high SPF Neutrogena.
Best product for dealing with sunburn? I’m a redhead from Florida and, sadly, I have so much experience with sunburn (I love the beach but it don’t love me). I’ve actually had blisters the size of quarters. But for sun burns that aren’t blistering, Solarcaine can help with the pain along with painkillers like Aleve and drinking lots and lots of water.
The best is to not get sunburned at all, it’s so damaging. The skin on my arms looks so much older than my face and stomach. Now when I’m at the beach, I try to avoid midday sun. If I do go out in the afternoon, I wear lots of sunscreen, a big brimmed hat and a long sleeved rashguard, sometimes boardshorts as well. Save the bikini for the mornings and the evenings.
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium deep withwith yelundertones loyellow
Your go-to sunscreen for face?: Paula’s Choice Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30. It’s my moisturizer and SPF in one, and has some nice anti-aging ingredients to boot. Also nice it has a flesh tone colour to helphavoid a white cast. Also PC Extra Care Non-Greasy SPF 50 for touch ups later in the day.
Your go-to sunscreen for body?: The PC Non-Greasy is also great for body, but I need to find something at the drugstore price point that is non-irritating and fragrance free as well…
Best product for dealing with sunburn?: I’ve never had sunburn in my life. I just get very dark! Turn from a milky latte to a straight up espresso, lol
Wow, I really love the sound of your PC sunscreen! No whitish flashback in photos would sure be great. My FB pic has that so badly, to the point that I don’t look like “me”. Now that’s something I really want to try!
Your skin tone/coloring: light med/yellow
Your go-to sunscreen for face?: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch! although I love another sunscreens from Ultra Sheer line too
Your go-to sunscreen for body?: Banana Boat Sport spray sunscreen
Best product for dealing with sunburn?: Aloe Vera gel,I always have one in my bag! currently I used Banana Boat Aloe Vera gel after sun and it really good. 😉
â—¾Your skin tone/coloring: Fair to light, neutral.
â—¾Your go-to sunscreen for face? Whatever is in my foundation, tinted moisturizer or CC Cream 😉 If it’s not there, so be it. I live in Siberia, work in an office, don’t drive, plus I do not like tanning/going to the beach, so I do not get exposed to the sun long enough to be worried about the consequences.
◾Your go-to sunscreen for body? None 🙂
â—¾Best product for dealing with sunburn? This is why I actually decided to comment in this topic. Its Lush Dream Cream. A miracle worker for that IMHO.
Your skin tone/coloring: Porcelain, and I burn in minutes.
Your go-to sunscreen for face? I use Target up&up moisturizer spf 15 plus Mary Kay cc cream spf 15. If I’m going to be getting hardcore sun I just use whatever spf 50 I’ve bought for my body and wear a brimmed hat.
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Whatever spf 50 I can get for cheap in bulk.
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Straight up aloe, or calamine lotion. Also milk & oatmeal baths.
Skin tone : brown or Nw43
Go to sunscreen for face: any brand at spf 30.
During the hottest part of summer (August) I might use 45 or 50.
Go to sunscree for body: same as above. Any brand at spf 30.
Best product for dealing with sunburn: I never get sunburns, as long as I’m wearing sunscreen, UT sometimes I can go without sunscreen also. It just depends on the time of the year and how long I am there. But I use extra moisturising lotion like cocoa or shea butter to keep it moisturized from the sun and beach. Salty water is drying to my skin. I’ve heard that aloe vera works though.
Skintone/coloring: medium-with neutral to yellow undertone
go-to facial sunscreen: I am struggling with finding a favorite. I was using Spergoop! city serum spf30 and really liking it. But, I was having to mix it with my moisturizer to get it not to pill under my foundation. the Sephora SA told me to do this. I was ok doing this in the colder months. but, I just don’t feel like this is enough protection for the warmer months(mixing the sunscreen) .If anyone knows anything about mixing ,lmk please! So, I am currently hunting for a good daily sunscreen. I have the Sephora suncare kit and honestly I am a sunscreen junkie. I have a few that I just don’t like.Mostly, I find they dry my skin even over moisturizers, etc. I have been liking the Amorepacific one from the sun kit. I am probably going to break down and get that one in full size. I have briefly tested the others in the kit. I think the AP is going to be the one and the ingredients are good( broad sprectrum). I do use a titanium and Zinc based one for pool, long sun exposure times (but I can tolerate them under makeup)..I have a few on hand now-Etage 100% physical sheer sunblock; MD solar sciencies Mineral sunblock tinted, and Banana Boat kids is pretty good too for a water proof option(and cheap)-but it’s greasy.
Body sunblock-I really like the sunblock oils-Supergop oil; Vita liberate (came in the Seohora kit)- I have both of those in small sizes. They are pricey so I reserve them for when I will be outside doing things with like grown-ups and not getting sweaty while my kid makes me chill at the pool, lol. Then I do the cheap drugstore spray stuff.Usually Coppertone sheer or banana boat kids spray.
Sunburn: Best thing to do is avoid it. Next thing is Noxzema. I got very bad sun poisoning from a medicine a couple of years ago on my hands and feet! So painful! Noxzema helped heal that..so for sunburn, I’m sure it would help. But, I generally don’t burn.My skin is med and it just goes brown. I really don’t like it. I get brown spots very easily (hence the zinc/titanium). I am always reapplying sunblock and wearing hats. trying to be in the shade. Still, I am brown within 1 week after school is out. So, all you fair-skinned gals don’t complain too much. 🙂
Your skintone/coloring: Medium w/ olive undertones MAC C4.5 Studio Fix Liquid foundation, deep brunette, teal-green w/gold flecked eyes.
Go-to sunscreen for your face: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Pure Mineral Sunscreen Moisturizer spf 40, this must seem ridiculously high spf considering my coloring, but a dear friend of mine who has deep brown skin got MELANOMA and I’ve already had a precancerous mole removed from in between my toes 20 yrs. ago! Scary!!! Plus, I don’t want to look like a prune either!
Go-to sunscreen for your body: Lubriderm with 15 spf, unless I go swimming, then it’s something w.p.and spf 25.
Best product for dealing with sunburn: I don’t burn easily at all, but on those rare occasions where I have, pure simple ALOE VERA.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/Light (and I lived near the equator for a while so got mild burns occasionally and one REALLY bad one at a concert one summer)
Your go-to sunscreen for face? La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 60
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance Lotion Sunscreen SPF 50
Best product for dealing with sunburn? Aloe, particularly Solarcaine’s Cool Aloe Burn Relief Formula Pain Relieving Gel with Lidocaine HCI because the lidocaine basically numbs the pain and it has a small amount of isopropyl alcohol in it which prevents any infection from getting into the sunburn.
Fair
I just bought Japanese Biore Kao Awua RichSarasara SPF 50+ from Amazon, and it’s some sort of sorsery. My entire life I thought that anything over SPF30 had to be greasy and white. This stuff feels like a serum and sisappears almost immediately after I apply it! What the heck!!!
And I use aloe whenever there is a sunburn (which hasn’t happened in probably a decade).
Aqua Rich**
Disappears**
Your skin tone/coloring: Light warm-neutral. Leaning warmer.
Your go-to sunscreen for face? I hate that it might be this Shiseido Urban Environment one I picked up. It is ridiculously expensive but so far it’s the only chemical sunscreen that doesn’t seem to break me out. Why must it be so much money?!
Your go-to sunscreen for body?: All the bajillion sunscreens I tested before it that broke me out.
Best product for dealing with sunburn?:
Once upon a time when I was in high school I fell asleep face down on my backyard’s cement patio with my back fully exposed to the warm June sun (I wasn’t trying to tan, actually I wanted to be as pale as humanly possible because I was Very Goth at the time – I was just a weird kid). I woke up several hours later with a HORRIBLE sunburn, as you can imagine. All we had to slather on it was bag balm, that stuff in the green tin. It was completely healed almost within the day, and I didn’t even have noticeable peeling. I have never gotten a sunburn since though so I can’t tell you if it’s REALLY the best for it, but it sure as hell worked a miracle on me back then.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC05
Your go-to sunscreen for face: Aveeno Bady Sensitive skin FACE
Your go-to sunscreen for body: Aveeno Bady Sensitive skin (no film and dries down matte!!!)
Best product for dealing with sunburn : Aloe and Zinc cream.
My choices are because I’m allergic to most chemical sun blocks. >_<
Your skin tone/coloring: Pale/Fair
Your go-to sunscreen for face? Purlisse SPF 50, such a good moisturizer too!
Your go-to sunscreen for body? Any cheap (at least SPF 30 if I’m out all day) brand. I’m interested in finding an SPF shimmer lotion for the summer, if anyone has good recommendations!
Best product for dealing with sunburn? slather on the aloe vera and sit in front of a fan! (but everyone here is so good about applying/reapplying sunscreen that no one gets sun burn, right? 😉
Warm, Medium Olive – tan easily
