Best brand for lipstick? YSL, hands down!
Best brand for eyeshadow? Urban Decay. The Naked 3 palette is perfection for my coloring.
Best brand for foundation? Rimmel. Their Stay Matte foundation is the best mattifying foundation there is.

This is a tough one to answer because I don’t have an across the board favourite for any of those items; so much depends on selection available (some great companies have a very limited selection of shades) and can vary from lipstick to lipstick within the same brand (same for eyeshadow, etc.). And my answers would probably change from week to week. But I’ll give it a whirl

Best brand for lipstick? Bite Beauty
Best brand for eyeshadow? Toss up between Inglot and Urban Decay
Best brand for foundation? toss up between Guerlain, Shiseido and Clarins

I thought this one was hard for the same reasons. For most surveys I can relatively quickly pick an answer but for this one I really had to think about it…and I ended going with what I own the most of and actually use rather than favorites because I have none haha

Your skin tone/coloring: Fair (NC15/ Nars Mont Blanc) and neutral-cool, Black hair, Blue/ Grey eyes
Best brand for lipstick? Guerlain, although Armani is a close second, I find Guerlain colours more unique
Best brand for eyeshadow? Rouge Bunny Rouge. Mostly neutrals, but I have to remind myself not to reach for them every day.
Best brand for foundation? I’m still looking for my holy grail of foundation, but I have to say that I really love Urban Decay Naked Skin. I find it’s as good as formulas that cost 50% more.

Best brand for foundation? I’ve only used drugstore foundations, so it’s a tie between L’oreal and Covergirl.

Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; dark-featured.

Lipstick: Revlon; no “offensive” scents, non-irritating/drying, massive range of shades/formulas/finishes, inexpensive, and easily obtainable.

Eyeshadow: NARS or Kat von D; interesting, yet wearable shades, variety of finishes, very pigmented.

Foundation: I don’t think anyone can really answer this one… Everyone has different needs when it comes to foundation. Sometimes we find the perfect shade, but the formula isn’t right, or we find something that has the perfect finish, but sacrifice longevity.

If I were pressed to choose one, I’d go with Ardency Inn, as they have the Americana Custom Color Concentrate, and it can be customized with any skincare product. The biggest downside is the shade range; it spans light to dark well, but lacks variety in undertones-I have to go a bit darker in order to not go too pink or yellow…

Skintone: I run light/ medium (depending on the season) and neutral/ warm
Best Brand for Lipstick: oh, lord… Chanel!
Best Brand for Eyeshadow: Very tough question (I have a serious addiction here). I like UD’s mattes & neutrals for versatility, especially since their reformulations. But Kat Von D has some seriously impressive Mac dupes… *sigh*
Best Foundation: Lately, I’ve been more of a BB (Boscia and Stila) + Hourglass lighting veil kinda girl… but when I do use actual foundation, it’s Clinique (Superbalanced is lovely).

Best brand for foundation? Urban Decay for high-end and Cover Girl for drugstore 🙂

Skin tone: Snow White
Lipstick: My largest collection is MAC
Eye shadow: Hard choice. Tarte palettes have a lot of soft colors that aren’t harsh on fair skin.
Foundation: It is truly difficult to find a foundation light enough for me. Laura Mercier Mineral powder or Revlon color stay.

Your skin tone/coloring: — NC15/ NARS Gobi

Best brand for lipstick? — Well, MAC has a great color selection at an affordable price. Bite beauty has a fantastic, moisturizing, long-wearing formula. YSL has incredibly luxe, gorgeous packaging. I love em all.

Best brand for eyeshadow? — MAC wins again in terms of variety, but their formula is not my favorite. The best from the drugstore has to be L’Oreal; their Infallible eyeshadows are amazing. Best of high end IMO is Laura Mercier; buttery and pigmented and easy to blend without a ton of fallout.

Best brand for foundation? — Hourglass makes a mean foundation. I wear their Veil Foundation during the cooler months and Immaculate Foundation in the hot hot summer.

Best brand for foundation? Armani again! I am a sucker for Armani and I am currently using my 3rd bottle of Luminous Silk foundation…best foundation ever for me!

I do not have access to Tom Ford, Urban Decay, Illamasqua and Hourglass unfortunately..I am sure they have amazing products as well!

This one is hard! I don’t really have like all-time favorites and not sure if my choices are “the best” BUT they are what I’d recommend based on what I have tried and own and use the most of.

Best brand for lipstick? Revlon and MAC. I love the variety of finishes that both brands offer and the range of colors. Revlon is my go-to lip brand at the drugstore and if I want a little splurge I buy MAC.

Best brand for eyeshadow? I really love Urban Decay and theBalm, I feel like they make really smooth and pigmented eyehsadows.

Best brand for foundation? I don’t really have a best brand for foundation because I think I like something from a lot of different brands, but my HG is Estee Lauder Double Wear. It works so well on my oily skin.

Skin tone: light medium olive
Best brand of lipstick?: I want to say Urban Decay because they’re my favorite lipstick formula, but they don’t offer any matte shades. I’m going to have to say Mac because they offer a variety of finishes and colours, and are reasonably priced.

Best brand of eyeshadow?: Inglot for a variety of finishes, e.g. mattes, satins, frosts, and a myriad of colours. Plus, they’re pretty cheap and you can customize your own palettes.

Best brand of foundation?: This one’s tough because I’m not too familiar with many foundations. I tend to find something I like and stick to it forever because I’m so picky. Maybe NARS since they have quite a few different shades and undertones as well as offering different formulas like Sheer Glow, the matte one, and a TM.

Best brand for lipstick? MAC has a very wide selection of colors and formulas, so I would have to choose them. The amplified and retro mattes are well worth it! The prices are spectacular for the product. Dior is amazing, but I would not have nearly as many colors given the prices.
Best brand for eyeshadow? It depends, really. Urban Decay is great for neutrals (and I love the Electric pressed pigment palette for bold color). I like MUFE for seasonal color palettes, but they are not always dependable (eg. Technicolor palette which was bloody awful).
Best brand for foundation? MAC. I have been using one formula or another since I was 16. It is almost impossible to find my shade (I mix NW10 Studio Fix with white Face and Body). Sculpt is my favorite, but NW15 is too pink for me and NC15 is too yellow. Thinking about various brands, I remember when I was younger and I went to makeup counters I always got matched to the brands’ lightest shade which was 2-3 shades too dark for me (with lots of MUA quips about my fair complexion). I hated the orangey oxidized face next to my fair body! I did find an Illamasqua shade that was the right color, but the formula was terrible (Rich Liquid in 115). I will stiple a little on again when the weather is not so humid (I only wore 3-4 times). I am the princess and the pea with foundation. I ordered Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in porcelain today, so I will see. But for the past 10 years, MAC has been my go-to foundation.

■Best brand for eyeshadow? They’re not all without flaw, but I love me my UD.
■Best brand for foundation? Well, my closest thing to HG is Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H in 210N, so I’ll go with that.

Your skin tone/coloring: NW 20/23 (fair, neutral/cool)
Best brand for lipstick? I enjoy MAC’s and Urban Decay’s new revolution formula
Best brand for eyeshadow? I’d say urban decay has the most consistently awesome eyeshadows. Their formulas are super smooth and buttery, and the pigmentation is almost always rich.
Best brand for foundation? Make Up Forever. I LOVE their HD Invisible cover foundation. Nicely buildable coverage that really makes your skin look flawless.

Best brand for lipstick? Oof, that’s a hard one! I tend to think, though, that if you average across all factors (price, shade range, textures, hydration, availability, etc etc), Revlon stacks up pretty highly! Lots of other brands win in individual categories for me, though.

Best brand for eyeshadow? Well, I have limited brand experience for eyeshadow, but in the experience I *do* have, Urban Decay is the best!

Best brand for foundation? I *love* both the powder foundation and the BB cream I have from YSL, so I’ll go with them! (Also an area that I’ve tried maybe three or four brands only in though). 😛

I would have answered Max Factor for lipstick, but we haven’t had it in the US for about 6 years… My HG foundation is actually PanStick, and I’m sooo glad I grabbed 2 on clearance before they were DC’d!

Rachel R. Avatar

I’m in the US, too, so I’ve only been able to get it online. I got some MF lipsticks and a lipgloss recently from Overstock.com. They had some shades of PanStick, as well.

I never used the PanStick, but it’s legendary. So awful for all the regular users. Glad you were able to snag a couple of your shade.

Best brand for lipstick? It’s really a toss up between MAC and Urban Decay. I love the formula of Urban Decay but love the range of colors from MAC.
Best brand for eyeshadow? Urban Decay is my first choice with MAC being a very close second. Both have an amazing color range and both formulas last a very long time on me personally.
Best brand for foundation? For me personally, I love MAC’s pro longwear liquid. I know not everyone is going to say they love it bc everyone has their own preference but for me it’s just hands down the best. It’s a perfect match for my skintone and is just what I look for in a foundation. I’ve tried others but always come back to this one.
