-Your skin tone/coloring: Neutral leaning cool
-Last fragrance worn? A blend of Tom Ford lost cherry and noir pour femme. I really want to try Rose Prick, but TF perfume samples are a rare offering and in general ‘mysteriously’ arrive without the mini tube intact.
-Last face mask used? I have a few stylish options on order, however, sadly, the last one I wore was just a standard white builder’s mask which I had hanging around the house. Absolutely zero style points.
-Last primer worn? Tatcha liquid silk canvas (I wrangled a deluxe sample in a recent Sephora order)
Wednesday, you read the face mask question the same way I did! ?
And we even replied in the same manner ?
Great minds think alike! ?
Lost Cherry is one of the next fragrances I want to try in stores once this whole quarantine is over (which is no time soon, so the list grows longer). I know I love cherry and bitters… but it’s the rose that I’m concerned I won’t like.
Your skin tone/coloring: light to light medium, warm undertone
Last fragrance worn? The only one I wear is Bulgari Omnia Crystalline. It’s the only one I’ve found that I love and doesn’t give me headaches.
Last face mask used? I use one from Caudalie but I want to get into sheet masks. I need a hydrating one. Suggestions?
Last primer worn? A hydrating one from Catrice. It’s fine, I guess.
If you’re looking for a good sheet mask, I highly suggest getting the “Dermal Korea Collagen Essence Full Face Facial Mask Sheet, 16 Combo Pack” on Amazon. It is SUPER inexpensive, but SUPER effective. They are SO soothing and my skin feels lovely afterwards! I really think you will like them! 🙂
Awesome. Thanks so much!
I’ve tried a couple of different Dr. Jart masks they’ve all been really good, with improvements I can see for a couple of days (especially if you use more than one a week). They’re pricey, but there’s extra goo that you can save for a second application….and then there’s the result!
Hope they work for you, too.
Thanks! It looks like Korean skincare is the way to go. Gonna look into it more.
Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Last fragrance worn? Lancome La Vie Est Belle, its becoming one of my most favorite fragrances.
Last face mask used? I used First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask. I purchased it when my skin was having a flair up of eczema on my forehead, but I like to use it still from time to time while I’m in the shower; my skin feel sooo soft afterward!
Last primer worn? Smashbox Primerizer and First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie Priming Moisturizer. Great combo!
Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, natural s&p hair
Last fragrance worn? D&G Light Blue. I bought it in mid-March on a whim, and it is now my official fragrance of the pandemic. It goes well with my makeup-free face and pjs.
Last face mask used? A paper one left over from when I had bronchitis in January. I bought them so I could visit my father and not get him sick. Or is that not the kind of mask you meant? ?
Last primer worn? NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer
LOL, you interpreted the mask in the same fashion I did. I’m killing myself laughing.
In these days, we all would need to start thinking of both sets of masks. 😀
I personally purchased a set of cotton masks from a local clothing company, to have a more sustainable option and to support local business. It’s that well made, I have troubles with the bridge of the nose fitting. They are all black, definitely my style, but once it gets hotter in California I’m probably regret it.
Stores in nearby towns started not allowing people without masks… it might come to a point we will be all wearing masks outside.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium with warm yellow undertone, dark brown eyes and hair
Last fragrance worn? Versace Crystal Noir
I just remember that I haven’t wore fragrance in weeks… and I realized I own this fragrance from before moving to US… and it still smells amazing.
Last face mask used? Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Oil-Absorbing Mask
I’m not a fan of masking, you won’t see me with a sheet mask on my face; but I use a mud and/or charcoal based mask twice a week.
Last primer worn? Paula’s Choice Smoothing Primer Serum SPF 30
Because I love a good silicone based primer and I can never layer too much SPF.
Paula’s Choice products are AMAZING. I have been using her line for years and my skin has never looked better!
I recently read somewhere that “layering” sunscreens may actually be counterproductive, as mixing some sunscreens with others makes them lose efficacy. I don’t know how true that is, as I haven’t been inspired to do more research (yet), given the state of lockdown & gloomy weather, but it’s definitely something I want to look further into.
I setup my work at home area near my balcony and I do try to exercise outdoors when I can, so SPF is a must for me even now. 🙂
Layering sunscreen is fine (e.g. using a sunscreen, a SPF primer, a foundation or powder with SPF), as long as you let each layer set and dry. Sunscreen doesn’t add up (you’re still getting the SPF of the highest rated product), but applying different products makes sure than you covered all the exposed areas with the appropriate amount of SPF.
Also, layering is a method of re-application, although and SPF powder re-applied is not full-proof.
It’s mixing the sunscreen (especially different formulas) that can be counter-productive. That’s why I always wait 5-10 minutes between SPF moisturizer and everything else. I even let my primer SPF to set 3-5 minutes before foundation and anything else.
Paula’s Choice website has great content on layering SPF: https://www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/sun-care/can-you-layer-sunscreen.html
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name (blue-green eyes)
Last fragrance worn? Tom Ford Black Orchid.
Last face mask used? Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment.
Last primer worn? FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer.
I LOVE the FAB coconut primer! It always gives me such a luminous glow without making me look greasy or shimmery. 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Last fragrance worn? My workplace of the last 5 weeks was fragrance free, so it’s been that long since I’ve worn a fragrance. I think it was Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black.
Last face mask used? No idea. Probably a hydrating sheet mask GWP.
Last primer worn? EYES — Too Faced Shadow Insurance; FACE — Boots No 7 Airbrush Away Primer.
Wow – Rachel, did you get the job? How is it going?
I did, and finished training last Friday. However, I ended up resigning this week. I did not know this when I was hired, but part of the job was tech support (TS) for phones and other equipment, and tech support for service. I thought it would be just be ordering, billing, and that type of thing. I’d worked phones and customer service quite a bit in the past, but never at the volume, pacing, variety, and with such free-form or even non-existent scripting.
However, we only had one day of training on tech support. Because their was another training group behind ours not trained on TS, we’d get forwarded their TS calls. So non-stop, almost all TS calls for 8 hours a day (which messes up your calls per hour metric, because they usually take much longer). We had to notate accounts, write up escalations, etc. while the customer waited on the phone. After training, there was not as much help available outside of the data base scripting. On the floor, our specialists and supervisors would be returning and making their own calls, off on break, etc. that would not necessarily line up with my calls, and I’d have to watch my emails for so I didn’t bother them at the wrong time. This sounds hard, but people there who’d worked at other cell phone companies said it was worse at those places.
All the multi-tasking, trying to keep up metrics (new hires did have a 90-day grace period, but I still), and frustration with getting help was just the end for me. I used to think I was great at multi-tasking, but no more. I’m sad, because I liked working there. The company really is excellent (one of the top 100 to work for in Oregon), and I liked everyone I met there very much. The job was just not a good match for me. I felt like I needed remedial classes! In reality, I was average for how long I’d been there, but I hated the actual work. Sorry this was long and boring.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool yellow
Last fragrance worn? House of Sillage Cherry Blossom. I bought the samplers from HoS during their 25% off sale. This is one of my favorites.
Last face mask used? Don’t use them
Last primer worn? e.l.f Poreless Putty Primer. I love this primer. It doesn’t make my pores go away, but it does not feel drying or make me oiler. I think my BB/tinted moisturizer lasts longer with it on.
Cameron the House of Sillage is having a Mother’s Day sale on the Cherry Blossom cupcake bottle and bow lipstick. I’m thinking about getting the set because I like the fragrance too.
Have you ever tried their lipsticks?
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/light skin with dark brown hair w/grey eyes
Last fragrance worn? Christian Dior J’adore Absolu (I got a sample that I really like)
Last face mask used? Onekind Pore-fectionist Refining Facial Mask (got it in my Birch Box and I really like it!)
Last primer worn? I don’t use primer. I just have an EXCELLENT skincare routine and my makeup adheres beautifully!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool, pasty and mole-rat looking!
Last fragrance worn? Believe it or not, with my Sephora order which came yesterday was a sample of Florence by Tocca. I’m not crazy for it but I think it might grow on me. Sort of “old lady-ish” (I’m an old lady so I can say this) but in a nice, nostalgic way
Last face mask used? the Youth to the People sleeping mask (I can’t recall the name – it’s yellow)
Last primer worn? gosh – I can’t recall, unless you count Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre, which I use as a moisturizer but which also claims to be a primer. Oh, no – wait – I did use Becca Backlight Priming Filter about a week or so back, though I don’t usually put anything on top of it.
Mariella, you crack me up with your description of your complexion! I bet it really isn’t pasty and mole rat looking at all….
I LOVE naked mole rats! At least you don’t have NMR teeth…
Your skin tone/coloring: By my name
Last fragrance worn? Juliet Has A Gun in Sunny Side Up
Last face mask used? It was more than two years ago. Something from Dr. Jart.
Last primer worn? e.l.f. Prep & Blur Stick
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/neutral
Last fragrance worn? LaVanila Coconut Vanilla. I wanna find one that basically smells like almond extract but sticks around, ha.
Last face mask used? Peach & Lily’s clay mask. I love it. Once in a while I throw in a sheet mask.
Last primer worn? CoverFX gripping primer but I’ll be making a change once it runs out. I may get the Wander Beauty primer during the Sephora sale.
Vanilla and bitter almond extracts seems like something I would definitely want to smell of. 😀 I love the 7 Virtues and the Atelier Cologne takes on fragrances with vanilla as main note.
Thanks for the recs! I have a mandarin travel size from Atelier that I quite like so I will have to explore their vanilla options—and 7 Virtues.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair-neutral; low-contrast (copper hair, green eyes, light skin).
Last fragrance worn? Atelier Cologne Oud Saphir–I can’t get enough of it! I want to wear it every day for the rest of the forseeable future.
Last face mask used? Technically the Glow Recipe Avocado Mask, which I use as a nighttime moisturizer. But if we’re talking a masking “experience”–apply, wait, wash off–then one of the Origins Rituali-Tea masks. I’m not convinced that it’s more effective than any regular ol’ clay mask, but it’s a pleasant experience!
Last primer worn? I’m wearing the Becca First Light Priming Filter today. I’m not enamored of it but it’s better than nothing, and I figured I may as well work through my less-beloved primers while working from home. (I can save my favorites for days when people might actually see me!)
Your skin tone/coloring: Light
Last fragrance worn? Cocoa Pink Fluffy Green Tea
Last face mask used? Sephora Avocado Sheet Mask
Last primer worn? Korres Mattifying Pomegranate Primer (so sad it’s discontinued!!)
Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; Mediterranean-featured.
Fragrance: Lou Lou by Cacharel; I typically save it for “special occasions”, but given the current situation, I considered Target to be one, LOL!
Mask: Garnier Skinactive Moisture Bomb; I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t find it made any real difference… Then again, it could be that my overall skincare routine, lack of a full face of makeup every day, and not spending alot of time outdoors may be contributing to the state my skin is in…
Primer: I haven’t worn primer for awhile, even prior to the lockdown, since the combination of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid & Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer had been working well given the cooler weather. Before that, it was Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Water Drop Primer in Coconut, as it layers so well with the Biore UV Essence SPF 50, and I really enjoy the combo. That said, since the LR-P sunscreen is the oldest in my collection, I’m putting in the effort to finish it up.

For eyelids, I’ve been using BareMinerals Prime Time Eyelid primer for above the lids and for actual lids, either NYX or Too Faced glitter primers.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair neutral

Last face mask used? Innisfree volcanic pore…the original. The new one with ‘clusters‘ sounds interesting. And a spot on my nose, now.
Last primer worn? Not really into them. Think it was Hourglass Ambient in Mood. People say it’s pretty and perfecting, but too light. Another thing to play with during indoor hours.
