Surratt Beauty Soie Artistique Eyeshadow
Surratt Beauty Artistique Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “wet or dry” powder formula that can “bring sheer washes of color and rich, vivid hues to lids.” The texture of the formula is very silky and finely-milled–these did kick up some excess powder when putting a brush to them–that seems to melt on the skin. The ones I bought were all shimmery, though the brand has some matte options in the range. They wear for seven to eight hours with semi-opaque to opaque coverage, depending on application method. The formula is blendable on the skin and fairly easy to use.
As a FYI, these are designed to be placed into the brand’s compacts, so the packaging they come with isn’t the sturdiest you’ll find. My experience shows that the packaging is sufficient for being kept in a vanity, but I wouldn’t travel with them. The plastic slides off, and it does tend to slide on its own, if tossed in a makeup bag. I keep mine in a Z Palette with magnets attached to them.
Surratt Beauty Soie Artistique Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “silky nude.” It’s a light, golden beige with a frosted finish and warm undertones. Applied dry, it was semi-opaque, and applied damp, it was fully opaque and brighter–it can be easily sheered out when you work with it dry. It lasted for seven hours on me before creasing. Surratt Beauty Ingenue Artistique Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “glowing pink.” It’s a soft, light-medium rosy pink with warm, yellow undertones and a frosted sheen and a smattering of silver sparkle. It goes on sheer if you apply it dry and was buildable to semi-opaque coverage dry, while damp application yields more pigmentation. The texture is very smooth, but it is a bit softer and prone to powderiness than other shades in this review. It wore well for seven nours before creasing. Surratt Beauty Cuivre Artistique Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “copper.” It’s a slightly muted, medium brown with warm, reddish-orange tones and golden shimmer that gives it a pearly sheen. Applied dry, it had semi-opaque pigmentation that looked softer and less intense compared to the damp application, and the texture was less smooth. Applied damp, it was intensely pigmented and very easy to work with. This shade wore well for eight hours. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Surratt Beauty Patine Artistique Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “patinated silver.” It’s a cool-toned, dark taupe brown with a soft frost finish and golden sparkle. It had sheer color payoff applied try, which I was able to build up to semi-opaque coverage. It tends to blend out and look more sparkly if you use it dry. When applied damp, it was mostly opaque and applied more evenly. It lasted for eight hours but has a bit of fall out over time. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Love Cuivre et Patine! How predictable am I?
Haha! So am I. I had to get the taupe!
Patine is lovely!
It is a nice color!
Petroleum as an ingredient, quality ingredients….
Sounds like an easy skip if that’s not an ingredient you want in your makeup! 🙂
These are quite pretty. I’m surprising myself by liking the Taupe best. It’s so cool toned and sparkly.
Taupe always catches the eye!
Patine! So lovely. 🙂
It’s a great color! I wish it was a bit better, though!
Cuivre and Patine: loving both. Your eye look is gorgeous
Thank you, Wendy! 😀
I thought the shadows would wow me like the swatches of the blushes though I doubt we can get them in Europe anyway.
I really loved the blushes, but the eyeshadows weren’t as impressive. They’re sparkly and pretty, but none of them are perfect.
I like Cuivre and love Patine! I’m really sad that PATINE didn’t performed well.
Surratt’s blushes are fantastic. Unexpectedly, I cannot say the same with regard to their eyeshadows.
Here we have four shades, and only one A (not whole). Taking into account this fragile packaging and the high price point, I expected much more. So, for me is an easy pass. Notwithstanding my considerations, thank you for your excellent job, Christine!
*didn’t perform*
Patine is so pretty, but it could definitely be better!
YASSSS. I was just hunting yesterday for good Surratt swatches because of their availability on Sephora and didn’t like anything I found! Thanks for your hard work!
Yay!
I’m super realized that these shadows are only $2 more Canadian. They shade looks very standard, but I’m interested in Dore Rose.
Dore Rose looks pretty! I can’t remember if all of these shades were available when I was at Barney’s or not. I know I tried to pick ones that would go well together, LOL.
The pans look so tiny in your hand lol. I really like these colors though. Even though they’re kinda pricey for eyeshadows.
Haha! They are small, though they contain a little more product than your MAC eyeshadow pan!
Patine is gorgeous. I can’t seem to find a nice satin or semi-satin grey and the MUFE ones are always sold out ( and they are not as pretty as this even). The fall out and a B at that price though. I’ll wait for the MUFE to restock. Gosh, they are gorgeous swatches. They are so pricey though and I can probably dupe the others with MUFE artist shadows. If you had both in front of you, which formula would you choose?
Artist Shadows, all day, everyday.
On Sephora’s website it says they are 0.005 oz which shocked me, good to see that isn’t true! Can you imagine, $20 for 0.15 grams. Patine looks beautiful, like the gold and purple sparkles are neutralizing each other to make gray.
I noticed, and I’m like, “Whaaa?!” but the backs of all of mine say 0.06 oz. so I figured Sephora was wrong there!
I like Cuivre and Patine, still not sure what to buy from this line- but I want a more interesting color.
Also, I would think for this brand, the pans would be of good quality so you wouldn’t need to stick magnets on them, like urban decay or even the mini/travel blushes from benefit stick really well on their
Own in zpalettes.
They’re meant to fit in the Surratt palette, which I think might be more where they click into it? as it is not a metal pan.
Ahh… okay thank you for that. That makes more sense.
Are the shadows good or nah? The look you created doesn’t look like anything.
Hey Krystle!
The review for each one is above, along with all of the ratings! 🙂 I’m not sure what you mean about the look, though – are the photos not loading for you? LOL, I double checked and saw them, and I definitely see eyeshadow all over my eyelid!
Christine, I like how you handled this comment. Also, thanks for getting these swatches up so quickly!
These are pretty, but I think the inconvenience of depotting them would put me off. Also the colours are not really original or unique. But at least the formula is pretty good for those wanting to buy this product.
They’re SUPER easy to depot since they’re designed to be put into a palette, so the plastic slides off and that’s it. You’d have to attach a magnet if you put it in a freestyle palette, but we’re talking peel off a sticker and put it on the bottom, lol!
Thanks for all of the photographs of the packaging and advice on storage with these, Christine! It’s really helpful to know when making a decision about whether or not to buy!
My pleasure, Katie! 😀
Cuivre looks great!
Yay!
pretty colors but worried about fragile packaging . How much is their compact?
The larger case is $22 and the small one is $17!
