Summer Makeup: Molten Lava Goes To the Beach, v. 2

Summer Makeup: Molten Lava Goes To the Beach, v. 2

I had a few tutorial requests for a coppery look I did last week, so I decided to modify it a bit so it used only permanent products on the eyes rather than limited edition ones.ย  This is the modified version, and the tutorial should be up on YouTube shortly ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I layered Free to Be and Coppering to get pretty close to Firecracker–though you could certainly use one or the other and still get something quite pretty out of it!ย  I was also all out of the NARS base I had used in the original look, so I used UDPP instead.

By the by, theBalm will be featured on MTV’s Hired tomorrow at 6:30pm!ย  I’m kind of excited, because it would be fun to see the inner-workings of a beauty brand.ย  theBalm will be looking at three final applicants to fill the role of their office assistant.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Primer Potion as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Free Love eyeshadow on the inner half of the lid and blend upwards into the tearduct. Lightly blend Free to Be eyeshadow on the middle of the lid with the 239, then layer Coppering eyeshadow on top to darken. With the 239, apply Amber Lights eyeshadow into the lower crease and then blended towards the outer corner and lid.Next, apply Bronze eyeshadow into the crease with the 226, lightly blending outwards and upwards to fade to the brow bone.ย  Blend Nylon eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lucky eyeliner on the lower lash line and Black Black pencil on the lower waterline. Line the upper lash line with Rich Ground fluidline applied with the 208; then pat Goldmine eyeshadow on top to lighten. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Get-Away Bronze blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Thrills lipstick first, and then layer Flurry of Fun lipglass for a complementing lip.

First post ever. Been following your blog for six months. LOVE this look. Wish we can buy MAC products online, and have them delivered to INDONESIA. Haha. I want Thrills!!

wow, you look gorgeous in this look. I think this might be my favorite so far. thanks for the ideas, you are the one of the best makeup guru – eVer.

Love it! Thanks for the tip. I’m just wearing peach eyeshadow for work and was thinking what to pair it with for the night. Fabulous!

love love LOVE this look! i ususally wear gold but never tought to team it with copper and coral/peach. looks so great, i’m trying it tonight! ๐Ÿ˜€

By far, my fave look that you’ve done this summer season! Great job, Christine!

Btw, I bought Thrills, and I’m thinking of grabbing Funbathing. Do you think these colors would compliment Flurry of Fun? Is there a ‘color difference’ when the lipglass is added?

Thanks, Sarah! ๐Ÿ™‚ Flurry of Fun looks nice on both – it lightens them both just a smidgen, but the color really doesn’t change much.

Beautiful as always. I love that it looks so neutral and natural in that second to last photo, and then you close your eyes and its BAM. =) Surprise! haha

I actually wore this (well, the original) look today! Used completely different products, but all the same shades. Only difference being I made my liner darker.

Such a pretty look, and very simple!

My upper lash line pretty much swells up, waters, and burns whenever I do anything with it – so instead of ruining a look, because my eyes water and then my lid gets swollen and itchy, I don’t wear it. Like in this look, I wore it, but I removed it as soon as the video & photos were done. I try to do it from time to time to show it on the blog, but I just can’t do it on a regular basis!

This is amazingly gorgeous!
I get more of an autumn (or fall I guess!) vibe from this (or maybe it’s just my state of mine since it’s winter here, LOL!) and I think it would look utterly fabulous with a bright blue or teal liner on the lower lashline as well.
Loving Thrills! Heading up to Auckland in about 3 weeks so hopefully To The Beach is in store by then!!!

You must be like the only woman ever who looks great without that top eyeliner. I don’t know how you’re still getting definition without! I really like coral/peachy shadows on you.

Oh! ..and I kept looking at your lower shadow lined eyes and it looks so glam and pretty. I’ve never considered shades of peach for eyeshadows, but that photo is inspiring me to obtain some shimmery peach shade stat!

So going home and trying out this look with colors I have. Looks great with your skin.

I am a year late for the 226 brush. =*-( I am learning about the wonderfulness of crease brushes now that I know how to use them and the 222 and the 224 aren’t exactly what I want which is the 226 with it’s pointy and firmishness. Any other suggestions on replacements?

This is beautiful on you. I think you ‘glow’ more when you wear warmer shades.
I love seeing all the looks you put together – they give me tons of ideas and push me to play with my shadows more than I would otherwise.

i like this version beter than the other one ๐Ÿ™‚
did you get your haircut?
ahah oh yeah, this look is amazing on you (:

Looks great! I’m not sure if it’s just my computer but Nylon looks much brighter/whiter in this look when compared to the original… weird.

I loved it. I’m searching the site and getting ideas to use Saturday (in Brazil, Valentine’s Day – actually, Lover’s Day – it’s on June 12th)
