That’s my first question too — their concealer looked really tempting, but it’s chock full o’ cyclopentasiloxane, which is a huuuuuge acne-trigger for me. I’m betting this foundation formula is as well. 🙁

Maggie Avatar

That is my EXACT concern. Cyclopentasiloxane and other volatile silicones are skin irritants for me. Out of curiosity, what kind of base products do you use then?

kjh Avatar

Ok, you guys. Where does CP list the ingredients, anyway? Concealer was a bust for me, as well. Very drying, kind of patchy, some darkening, and uncomfortable. I don’t trust the absence of allergens, either, without thorough reading.

I am SO excited to try this foundation! Using the Foundation Matrix, I need to grab the Fair 20 and/or Fair 30. I’m actually surprised I’m not the lightest shade in this range, considering I have ALWAYS been the lightest shade offered in any foundation ever, (even Fenty!). Also the packaging is beautiful too! Thank you for this post, it has been very helpful and I’m looking forward to the release!

Lea Avatar

I’ve got very fair skin with yellow undertones and that lightest shade looks freaking perfect!! I’m loving the range of undertones here, I reeaaalllllyyyyyy hope the formula lives up to the hype! On one hand I know I should wait for reviews to come out before ordering, on the other hand I’m certain the lightest and darkest shades will sell out very soon after release.

Christine Avatar

From swatching all the shades (and I wait about five minutes before photographing liquid foundations), the foundation doesn’t seem to dry down as matte or shift as much between the freshly-swatched vs. “dry down” shade compared to the concealer, but like most liquid products, they do dry down a bit darker, which is why I wait five minutes before photographing.

That being said, I didn’t personally experience the concealer oxidizing during wear, but it was consistent with liquid concealers/foundations that are quite matte – most tend to darken a few shades once they actually dry (compared to how they appear wet). Hope that helps!

I’m also waiting on more reviews to find out if this oxidizes, I’ve seen a fair lot of newly released foundations that oxidize 1-2 shades darker (especially medium-full coverage one). And that happens with foundations that have half the shade range 😆 With such an extensive shade range there’s a huge chance to both be matching multiple shades or to end-up 3-4 numbers off just because there’s so many.
I sometimes think it’s my `fault`, but my tried and true MAC and Estee Lauder shades don’t oxidize on me.

Renée Avatar

Thanks for your feedback, I definitely have the Estée Lauder foundation on my wish list! Bronzers and foundation are my favorite makeup products so I always get so curious when anything new comes out 🙂

Indya Avatar

I suppose this would be a good time to try out their concealers also. I’ll probably end up picking more than one of these. Is it me or do all the “deep dark” 185-200 shades look… the same? Like with a red undertone? I don’t see any of their influencers spamming my insta feed either. Purrhaps I just wait!

Robin Avatar

Ellarie on YouTube did swatches of the darker shades and some were red toned. By the time she finished her makeup, I she looked great. Other products she used evened the redness out. Hope this helps.

Hoping a pale person reviews I’m likeAlana … fair 20 or 30.

MichelleChefNYC Avatar

I was just commenting the same thing, after you get past the medium shades they all look so red… I can see this not working out for women of color who have more golden undertones. I have more olive skin but I’m in that light/medium range and none of these look like they will work for me based on the swatches, but I will wait for more full face reviews to make a call if I want to try it.

Lea Avatar

I just wanted to leave a comment so that everyone sees, Colourpop does NOT accept returns on their products ???
I’m hoping that Ulta will stock these or else I can see many potential customers frightened by the difficulty in finding their correct shade!!

I too hope this lives up to the hype. I haven’t tried the ColourPop concealer so can’t speak to it oxidizing but with so many colors to choose from I am hoping that there will be one that works for my daughter. She just went to Sephora and they color matched her with their foundation matching gun and gave her samples of the Fenty and the Cover FX. She told the SA to not make her orange!! We got home and she has worn both of them and they are both orange on her. So disappointing for her. She likes full coverage or at the least buildable coverage and a matte dry down. Keeping my fingers crossed that one of these will work for her.

Alison Avatar

Thank you for this, Christine! I’m looking forward to trying this foundation. Apologies if I missed it, but which shade is your best match?

Cg Avatar

Although I appreciate the photographs and swatches I wish there was a review of the foundation. Wear time. Coverage. Finish. Oxidation. The good the bad and recommendations. It’s one thing to claim something and another to prove it. Anyhow, knowing your normal process guessing it might be coming up. Thanks again.

Christine Avatar

Hi Cg,

I don’t do sponsored reviews, so there would never, ever be a review portion along with something that is sponsored! This is a partnership to showcase swatches of all the shades and utilize the Foundation Matrix to make it easier for readers to find their shade matches! 🙂

Tiffany Avatar

the concealer oxidized on me so i think i need to shade up. Christine, i am waiting for them to see the error of their ways and collaborate on a palette with you.

Huma Avatar

Thanks for these! Have you decided which one is your best match in colourpop? I’m asking because your tarte rainforest of the sea shade is also my best match.

Christine Avatar

Hm, not sure what you’re using as your existing shades, but when I use Tarte Light-Medium Neutral, I’m getting what I’d expect – light-medium shades! https://www.temptalia.com/foundation-matrix/results/tarte-rainforest-of-the-sea-water-foundation-broad-spectrum-spf-15/light-medium-neutral/?formula=344370

Here’s also just light-medium/neutral undertones: https://www.temptalia.com/foundation-matrix/results/?skintone=Light-Medium&undertone=Neutral&formula=344370

(There’s no neutral undertone shade in light-medium, so it’ll show you the closest matches.)

Huma Tariq Avatar

Thanks for the links, much appreciated! I think I added Urban Decay all-nighter and Mac foundations so that’s why it was leaning towards medium. All-nighter oxidizes on me, so still haven’t found the perfect shade in it yet.

Risa Avatar

I’m really glad that companies are getting better about being inclusive with their shade ranges. I still hold out hope that one day people with olive undertones (of all skin tones, dark or fair) will get more love. There is still not a foundation on this planet that I don’t have to mix tons of blue into in order to get my shade of green.

Christine Avatar

Hi!

Please click “find your match” to enter in your existing foundations to get a match. NC20/NC25 is a large gap and the depth and tone depends on the formula from MAC 🙂

Here’s NC25 in Studio Fix Fluid: https://www.temptalia.com/foundation-matrix/results/mac-cosmetics-studio-fix-fluid-spf-15/nc25/?formula=344370

i spy light 55 being your shade it really does disappear into your skin but the tone might be off….which shade do you think matches you best?

Elle Avatar

These swatches are really helpful! I thought I could grab Fair 05 but now I realise Fair 15 would probably work better – it has nice yellow undertones and isn’t too light.

MichelleChefNYC Avatar

It’s nice to see them come out with such a large range of shades, but it seems like after you hit the medium mark so many of them are SO rosy and red in their undertone… all the deeper shades seem so very red, I feel like this isn’t going to work for a lot of women of color who have golden undertones. As usual my olive undertoned light/medium skin doesn’t have a match lol… would like to see some more neutral shades, these all seem to lean so heavily golden or pink in undertone… I’m going to have to wait for more full face reviews before I decide to take the plunge or not.

I ordered a Light 70 and it was a tad too dark and should have gone with Light 50 probably. Unfortunately, they don’t accept returns or exchanges so I will have to leave this one for when I’m a little darker in the summer. Other than that, the consistency is the same as the Jouer foundation, a little runny which a little goes a long way. I use the 3-in-1 setting/primer spray from Too Faced along with my moisturizer and sunscreen and it lasts almost a full work day. When I get home, I can tell that the areas around my nose and forehead (t-zone areas) are the areas where the foundation breaks down the most.

For color reference, I use the following shades: Bobbi Brown Skin Weightless Powder Foundation in Beige 3, Laura Mercier pressed mineral powder in Real Sand, Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in 18 Golden Linen, Jouer liquid foundation in Fawn (but that was a tad too dark, should have picked Sand or Linen).

Hey Christine I know your foundation finder is great but since these oxidise what shade did you finally choose for yourself?
i am NW 20 in mac studio fix fluid spf 15. and NC 25 in MAC studio waterweight spf 30 , MAC studio sculpt spf 15 and MAC studio fix powder plus.
