I actually like every single one of those colors, and I think they’d all look good on me. I hope the texture on them is good. Thanks so much for the swatches!

Elisa Avatar

Out of all of the colourful ud palettes released since I got into makeup 2 years ago, newbie I know, this one has tempted me the most. However, with 5 shades I would not touch I will pass. The swatches are beautiful though, with only 2 or 3 being less pigmented IMO.

Mariella Avatar

In spite of initially thinking I’d pass on this because of one entire row (2nd from right), I’m now eyeing this differently and even loving the look of Bondage so I may well cave on this one since some of the colours are super-appealing. I’ll be interested in seeing your review and how the colours perform.

Zainab Avatar

Yay it’s here! I love a lot of these (especially Sonic and Angel), but there are a few that seem like repeats from last year. Still, I’m kidding myself if I try and say I won’t get this…

Andie Avatar

I know some people don’t like the funny names, but I chuckle a little every time I see “DTF.” I really like the way this palette looks and could see myself wearing almost every color. I am definitely ordering this. I have Vice 1 and Vice 2, but Vice 3 is already in the running for my favorite.

Brunwen Avatar

Wow, this might the perfect UD palette for me! Because I don’t own any yet. I love bold colours, but not neon bright (so Electric palette is not for me), yet I also need a proper neutral palette and I like Naked 3 (or Naked Basics 2 for the mattes) the best. This one looks to be in perfect balance, with neutrals in a colour range similar to Naked 3 and a lot of pinkish/purplish ones. Only two blues, which is good, cause I don’t wear blue on my eyes too much. Surprisingly, I really like both of them on the swatch photos… so I might buy this one, despite not being a fan of the packaging (I don’t like the acid green).

I really hope I would be able to get my hands on it in my part of the world. Does Urban Decay sell their limited edition palettes through sites like Feelunique as well?

Juju Avatar

WOW these look amazing. I am so excited for this, much more so than the previous vice palettes.

Sonic and Alchemy are beautiful unique shades that I can’t wait to use. I really hope the review on this is at least an A-!

Becca Avatar

Yes, but they are owned by L’oreal, who does test on animals. I’m not very comfortable purchasing from Urban Decay, because ultimately, my money would go towards a company who does test. Plus I really don’t wanna spend 60 dollars on this palette, when I’m really only interested in the one shadow. 🙂

sam0318 Avatar

I believe Fyrinnae is vegan and cruelty free and Alien reminds me of their eyeshadows Love Potion and Rapunzel Had Extensions, the only difference being that the former has silver-green micro shimmer and the latter has golden shimmer but it appears more prominent in swatches (it could be the camera flash though).

Christina D. Avatar

This is just gorgeous. I cannot wait to get my hands on it (and the Lorac Mega Pro). Even after all these years, Urban Decay remains my favorite brand.

Carrie Avatar

My first thought was OOOH, pretty!

Then my next thought was ‘man, a lot of these colors look similar to existing colors.’ This will probably be a pass for me, I’ll be interested in seeing dupes on Truth, I’m always looking for a good matte highlighter shade that works for me.

Alana Avatar

OMG!!! You just made my day posting this with the swatches..lol..Thank you! I have the 2nd vice that came out last year {I missed the 1st one..Bummer 🙁 }..But this one is so different from the last one..in a good way of course! I’m really feeling the burgundies and the neutral tones in this..as well as that light blue..it’s BEAUTIFUL!!! I have no business buying this but that’s not gonna stop me lol..I’ve fallen in love. There was and still is so much hype about this, and I’m hoping this lives up to it. But Urban Decay never disappoints.. The dilemma I’m faced with now is if I should just wait til Saturday the 13th to impulse buy it..wait for your full review on it or wait till they have their friends and family sale…Ugh decisions..decisions..decisons lol. Thanks for this sneak peak Christine..You never disappoint! 😉 xoxo

Alana Avatar

Yea that’s right! I’m in need of a new Naked 1 and Naked 2. So if I could get the Vice 3 palette and both naked palettes for..what is friends & family..I forget but I think it’s like 40% off..it may be worth waiting for the sale. My brain is trying to talk me out of waiting b/c I feel like this palette is gonna sell out fast..but my wallet is like slow down girl…you don’t got it like that..lol!!! Ughh..what to do..what to do?! :\

Alana Avatar

Ok..I just checked..I was wrong..The friends and family sale takes 20% off..I don’t know what I was thinking with 40%..yea in my dreams..lol! But last year..it was around early/mid October that they did it..so I’m hoping this year is around the same time. *fingers crossed* 🙂

Carrie Avatar

I forgot to add – that packaging! It looks like there is so much wasted space! UD 15 was plenty easy to work with, I don’t know why they think we need all these separation between colors (especially when there’s little vertically).

I feel like UD doesn’t realize that not everyone has infinite space to store their make up!

Brenda Avatar

I’m surprised, there are actually quite a few colours I’d wear in this! Usually don’t buy the UD palettes because I don’t really wear that much bright eyeshadow.

Veronica Avatar

DTF as a name? Really? It would be funnier if it wasn’t for the color they chose to attach it to.

This palette is a pass for me. Vice 1 is still the best of the three, IMO.

Chloe Avatar

I was thinking the same thing! Like…THAT color? Did they already name all the other ones and this was what was left and they just HAD to use at least one sex acronym so…?

Violet Avatar

I am SO excited for all the red-like colors in this palette! I look forward to UD’s holiday collections every year. Will need the set of 10 eyeliners as well!

xamyx Avatar

I need this. I actually really like every shade in the palette, and would wear them, with the exception of Lucky. Why is this type of shade always included in every palette, by every brand…

Kelsey Avatar

The packaging is calling my name, but that’s about it. I’d be tempted to just turf the shadows and keep the tin they’re housed in. Nothing I’m seeing is terribly unique or original. It’s nice they’ve included nudes this time around and some nice satins and mattes, but I have all 3 naked palettes. The last thing I need is another round of nudes and overdone colours.

Wenz Avatar

At first glance I thought this was just mmeeehhh… but these swatches are giving it a new life!!!!!
Cant wait for the review! My christmas list seems to have started 🙂

BOTTÂNICA BOTTANIQUE Avatar

Oh my, such a pleasant surprise!
Such a rich pop shades!
Love the balance between neutrals and pop tones, and also adore the nice variety of finishes.
I”m not used to enjoying big palettes, but this is a lovely exception.
I look forward very much to your full review and eager that this pallete should receive your highest commendation.

Dminique Avatar

Does Urban Decay have a specific time of day that they usually launch their products? (i.e. midnight, early morning) Or do you know what time the Vice3 will pop up on the website?

beka Avatar

well darn it! i love the looks of this…such a nice mix. i have vice 2 and really like it-this looks just as lovely, but totally different. too bad i just got in-person access to tom ford and dropped a ton of $$$! maybe i can keep my spending down and be able to justify this when it comes out…it better be as nice as it looks though.

in the brand promo you posted earlier, every shade was described as having a metallic finish. however (thankfully), that does not seem to be the case from the shade descriptions or your swatches.

Zia Avatar

I’m torn! When I was scrolling through, I honestly felt like I already had such similar dupes in my makeup collection (a few even from Urban Decay)! At the same time, I regret not getting the Vice palette before, so I think that’s playing into me wanting this one. I’ll have to wait to see reviews and the dupe list.

xamyx Avatar

I’m a bit of the opposite! While I can definitely dupe many of the shades (at least the ones I know will get the most love), I need this one because I have the other 2. It was the same with Naked 3; I don’t really like it as a whole, but because I had the other 2, and Basics, I had to have it-and although it’s permanent, I needed it right away, LOL!

beck Avatar

dtf? hmmm i could do with out the crude abbreviations
but i guess thats UD for you…
all ways a sexual/narcotics theme.
any ways despite that i have to have this
as my bday gift to myself haha!
If it comes out at Sephora on Oct 5
I will be pleasantly surprised.
a few of the colors will go untouched…
alien for sure is of no use to me

Tugce Avatar

This is so disappointing for me. I really liked the first 2 vice palettes, yet could not afford it. Now I have money to spare, yet there are only four colors which I imagine I would wear from this palette: Bondage, sonic, revolver and heroine.

I love purples, greens and colorful shadow in general, but something about the tone of these shadows make them unattractive to me…even the neutrals seem off… sad 🙁

Danielle Avatar

Okay. Tacky packaging aside (I find it ugly, personally, after V2 being so pretty with the orchids and Vice being so simple), I love the colors. Goodbye Shadow Box, I’ll see you never. I can use these shades. I hope the lid is stronger than it looks, I’ve dropped my Vice palette before (it’s taken many tumbles off bathroom counters) 🙁 Nothing has broken inside, but this lid looks so… Flimsy. Is it flimsy in your opinion, Christine? I haven’t handled one of the newer UD palettes, where they have this pencil case-style packaging, so I wouldn’t know. Not that I make a habit of dropping palettes!

Denise Avatar

What am I going to do if you give top marks in your reviews for this?? I’d already promised myself that I wouldn’t get anymore eyeshadows but now that I’ve seen this…AARGH!!
(quietly chants to self “Please let the reviews be low scoring, please let the reviews be low scoring….)!!

April Avatar

Not a huge fan of the front packaging. I loved Vice 2’s beautiful packaging, but this almost looks tacky to me. It looks like a racecar, not makeup. BUT this looks so gorgeous, I already know I’m going to have to get it, hahaha. The colors look really nice. I hope they perform that way too.
Oh, and what kind of name is DTF for an eyeshadow XD Geez, UD.

Tatiana Avatar

Really pretty colors but I have a feeling that I wont use most of these eyeshadows in this palette. it would just be waste of my $60.00 that could be spent on more important things like food, chothes, bills, etc. So not worth it for me!

Cami Avatar

Oh my Urban Decay.. you’ve done it again. You always suck us back in with all your amazing palettes. I’m gonna say that I’m not going to give in and get this one because I have SO MANY UD palettes.. but no promises on that. But nonetheless, a beautiful palette! Thanks for the swatches, Christine!

3YVW Avatar

doubt i will even wait for your review. kidding myself, if i pretend to myself i won’t get it. (did that last year w/V2 + caved.) UD F+F yet again. {The pencils don’t big thrill me: too many near dupes, even just from UD. Hope a bunch go permanent, though. Perversion: UD : Orgasm: Nars. You can’t avoid it. Already gave away 2. Seems that if you wait, you can get a deal on pencils. Not so much with shadows.}

To pick semantic nits, rows are horizontal, and columns are vertical. There’s no such thing as a vertical row. FYI.

Cat Avatar

Sonic is a bit more orange than I’d hoped for. =( But, WOW! Alchemy is gorgeous! Also, some of those neutrals (especially DTF and Defy) are very, very nice! Thanks for the great swatches, Christine!

Kaitlin k. Avatar

Christine, when I see your swatches this looks really appealing–but other swatches I’ve seen look way more powdery, chunky, and glittery. So I’m on the fence, I definitely want to read your review and see possible dupes for the purples. Vice 2 was even a bit glitter-bomb for me and I’m really disappointed they put glitter in the neutral mattes!! Even if it doesn’t show up, it still gets in my brushes and ends up on my face, where no glitter ever dare tread!

Ali Avatar

I grabbed this at Ulta and I am very had I did. A lot of thought and consideration went into putting this palette together and it shows. I haven’t had any texture issues other than with the two lightest shades. The top left.. that pinky one, truth? is a little powdery but first look that way at all on the eye. Same goes for the one under it. Other than those two the colors ate vertu soft and creamy. I forgive the texture on those couple because they don’t look chalky on the eye at all.

Lulle Avatar

Only a few shades look appealing to me, and even less seem unique or rarely seen. Besides, there’s basically a whole row that I wouldn’t be able to use, the second from right – not that these color are not nice but reddish shades and plums tend to make me look like I have an eye infection… Easy pass for me.

Quinctia Avatar

Love this. Not entirely thrilled with the outside (why no central ud with that green crystal lettering like the other two?), but I otherwise really like the design of the Vice palettes. Especially compared to the bulkier Book of Shadows designs.

And the colors look pretty great. I’ll happily add this to the hoard. 😀

Maggie Avatar

I was excited for this originally bc of the packaging–I thought there would be more green shadows. This is still pretty cool though–I might just get this depending on the texture.

Rachel Avatar

the arrangement of the complementary colors next to each other caught my eye.nice colors,.but I still got vice 2 here and don’t use it very.much. this package would be fun to.own. I love the golden shades..I think the way the colors are arranged in a pallette are key since at first I.was like.I.want it..then.I.realize I.own many similar shades =p

Chelsea Avatar

I’m disappointed by the shades in this one, I like the look of Alien, Angel & DTF and I’d probably get a lot of use out of the lighter neutrals… But there’s nothing I haven’t seen before. I’ll still get the palette, I love the packaging!

At first glance Bondage reminds me a bit of MAC’s Rich Core ED Shadow… I like that one a lot, guess it’d be handy to have a similar shade in a palette.

Amara Avatar

i dunno, i just am a little underwhelmed by this one.. dragon is the only shadow that i would be excited to use. oh well, my wallet won’t be mad at me for skipping this! haha

RedHeadTea Avatar

I love all of the colors with the exception of Freeze and Dragon. I will most definitelly be getting this one. That is, if I manage to somehow get my hands on it, which is always tricky with UD LE stuff as they do not ship to my country nor are they available here so I have to rely on few online stores. But after shipping and customs fees, the price can even be double of retail price. And that is just too much, no matter how gorgeous the palette is.

Lotus Avatar

These shades are basically new together and a much better purchase than vice LTD which I’ve found are many shades from a long time ago, not new, changed names.. Yet I’m stunned because I’m a VIB ROUGE who was up all night sick, and I didn’t get ANY email! WHAT!? Did you, Christine? About the Vice LTD? Seems odd because I’m sure you would have posted.. Smh.. I pour money to them, yet they miss one email.. Possibly they are building up hype to get it sold when it is available? I think this because it’s not that great when you compare vice 2&3 & others we have.. Overlaps and some colors brought back.. What are your thoughts, please?

Lotus Avatar

Wow, I’m sure you feel important. How shameful they forget you when, if not for you, they’d not have such sales sucess.. I’m disgusted. Want a Roadstripe? 🙂

Tami Avatar

This is honestly my favorite Vice palette…The color combination is just amazing and reaches out to a wide range of audiences – I am also liking it that there’s none that seem to have chunk glitter. It’s always high on shimmer and as I get older, I find I need to use a lighter hand but that’s ok. I love love love the colors and have been using this palette more than the tons of others I have. There are so many great combos in this one palette. It’s my favorite palette besides “it cosmetics” (all mattes) this year. I missed out on the Lorac mega pro but no love lost. I have the lorac pro 2 and i’ve never been crazy about it anyway. I love mattes yet their mattes seem a bit powdery and don’t adhere to my lids very well, no matter what kind of primer I use. I never have that issue with any of the urban decay shadows. I was sold since the Naked series.
